Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Provoke the Fire, Bear the Consequences Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Provoke the Fire, Bear the Consequences Tang Yu rembered the side of her face that had been hit, having forgotten about it in her constant state of tension.

“Maybe she doesn’t want to see ,” she said.

After all, she had been with Ye Yuli.

She had not ntioned a word about her mother.

What was there to say? Ye Sihan wasn’t the type to confide in.

Just as she thought that, a strange cry ca from behind her, scaring Tang Yu so much that she scread ‘Ah,’ stumbling forward, instinctively clutching onto Ye Sihan, “There are wolves! The wolves are coming!”

Ye Sihan’s dark eyes narrowed slightly, staring at the woman who had thrown herself into his arms in shock and alarm.

“Just now… there was a cry too, that’s why I hid, what do we do? Will it eat both of us?”

“There are no wolves,” Ye Sihan said sternly.

“Wasn’t that the howl of a wolf?” Tang Yu pondered, not loosening her grip on Ye Sihan.

“Provoke the fire, and you bear the consequences.” As the body in his arms pressed closer, Ye Sihan’s warning voice ca crashing down.

Tang Yu’s body stiffened, realizing what she had done, she hastily let go, “Sorry, I didn’t an to…” she finished and ran to the car.

As the car drove away, her face still looked uncomfortable.

Back at the Ye Mansion, Lin Shuhuan was still there, giving her a look that could flay a layer of skin off her.

Ye Sihan had a maid treat the swelling on her face, the dicine worked well, and it soon subsided.

When Tang Yu was about to go upstairs, she passed by the side hall and heard what Lin Shuhuan was saying, “Sihan, do you know who she is? She once dated Ye Yuli, you can’t keep her by your side.”

“She’s just a staff mber of KING Group.”

“Even so, why did you make her your personal assistant? Weren’t you with Luo Bingbing before? Isn’t it better to have her take care of you?” Lin Shuhuan concluded.

Ye Sihan didn’t speak, but the atmosphere around him was tense, his profound features shrouded in darkness, his silent presence was sowhat intimidating.

Despite Lin Shuhuan’s close relationship with Ye Sihan, she couldn’t help feeling intimidated.

So she changed her approach, “I just heard about such a female star. Really, keeping Tang Yu around is too dangerous. Obviously, she isn’t any good girl, after being dumped by the younger brother, she tries hard to get close to the older one. That scheming isn’t ordinary.”

Tang Yu, listening at the doorway, found it unspeakable.

When had she ever tried to get close to Ye Sihan? Wasn’t it him who had made it impossible for her to leave? This was slander!

“How dare you eavesdrop on our conversation?” Lin Shuhuan discovered the person standing at the door and stood up in anger.

“No, I… I just happened to walk by,” Tang Yu explained nervously.

Lin Shuhuan took several deep breaths to calm herself down and then said to Ye Sihan, “I’m leaving, and Miss Tang Yu can just take my car, since the mansion is quite big, to avoid getting ‘lost’ again.”

The word ‘lost’ seed laden with implication.

As if Tang Yu had deliberately gotten lost, then sought out Ye Sihan for help, and to seduce him.

Tang Yu, hearing these words, couldn’t have wished for more.

Fortunately, Ye Sihan said nothing, which amounted to permission.

Sitting in Lin Shuhuan’s car on the way back, Tang Yu couldn’t help but speak up, “I’ve broken up with Ye Yuli, there’s no need to target at every turn, is there? Is it fun?”

“Even if you’ve broken up, you could still seduce other n of the Ye Family!”

“Then tell Ye Sihan to fire ! I’ll leave imdiately!”

“I heard a trendy term recently, ‘green tea.’ It describes your type, doesn’t it?” Lin Shuhuan asked sarcastically. “Want to say it, so you look innocent?”

Tang Yu frowned slightly.

“One despicable woman entering the Ye Family is enough; we don’t need another. Like I said, don’t even think about it.”

Tang Yu had not expected this, but since Lin Shuhuan didn’t believe her, she didn’t bother explaining.

She was certain though, not only did Lin Shuhuan know her mother, but they also had a terrible relationship.

However, she didn’t ask Lin Shuhuan about her mother again, to avoid escalating the conflict.

Lin Shuhuan couldn’t possibly drop her ho, and Tang Yu didn’t need it either; she asked to get off as soon as they reached the main street.

As soon as Tang Yu got out of the car, before she could steady herself, the car drove away as if Lin Shuhuan found the re sight of her nauseating.

Pulling out her phone to look for the subway entrance nearby, she noticed a ssage she had received ten minutes before.

It was a bank text—the amount credited… Tang Yu suddenly widened her eyes, her face almost pressed against the screen.

How many zeros?

123456… 7 zeros?

Oh my god!

Tang Yu was stunned!

Without asking, she knew it was the compensation from Ye Sihan.

But she didn’t expect it to be this much!!

It was more money than Tang Yu could ever earn in her lifeti! Could this be considered a “blessing in disguise”?

It would make raising children much easier in the future.

But that didn’t an she could just stay at ho and not work; once things had stabilized, she still planned to find a job.

Three sons and a daughter would constitute a substantial expense through to university, not to ntion the costs when they eventually marry and have children.

By that calculation, a million wouldn’t be enough.

However, she could now afford to be much more comfortable and decided to buy so chocolate cake for her four children first.

Upon entering the cake shop, she saw that a small piece of cake cost more than a hundred yuan. She used to buy less and every ti it hurt, but now she bought six all at once.

After paying, she turned around with the four small cakes and bumped into soone.

Tang Yu apologized instinctively, “I’m sorry…” When she looked up, she first froze, as mories from the nursing ho beca clear in her mind, and she turned rigid, dropping the cakes in her hands to the ground.

“Xiaoyu?”

Tang Yu wanted to say sothing, but in the end, her lips only trembled slightly, and no sound ca out.

“Xiaoyu, is it really you?” Yu Zhaohui looked at her daughter, who she had been separated from for many years, with excitent.

Tang Yu had wanted to see her mother after she left, even if it ant just watching her from a distance without acknowledging her.

But she never expected to encounter her like this, unexpectedly, in a dessert shop.

Her emotions were a tumult.

After over a decade, the most familiar stranger was just like this.

Sitting near the window on the second floor of the restaurant, Yu Zhaohui looked at Tang Yu with a face full of affection, “Mom really missed you so much, where did you go?”

Tang Yu, with her mind in chaos, looked at her estrangedly, seemingly not fully understanding, and counter-asked, “Are you asking ?”

“I know that you would resent because I didn’t take you with when I divorced your father,” Yu Zhaohui said helplessly. “Sotis n fight for custody of the children not because they love them more but to make the children’s mother suffer. If the marriage hadn’t been so painful, I wouldn’t have wanted to divorce.”

Tang Yu didn’t quite understand.

But indeed, when she was young, her parents were constantly at odds.

Her father also had a gambling problem, which only worsened their already poor family’s situation.

Yet, Tang Yu didn’t feel any warmth from what Yu Zhaohui was saying, and she withdrew her hand that had been held, her expression turning cold, “That’s just your excuse! Have you ever thought about how miserable my life would be? As a girl, it’s inconvenient to be with dad; I didn’t even know what to do when I got my period for the first ti. I cried from the pain in my stomach and was ridiculed for having blood on my pants. If you cared about , why didn’t you co to see even once?”
