Chapter 506: Chapter 346: Identity tamorphosis

Within the grand hall, a montary silence fell.

Song Lingxue massaged her forehead, pushing aside the fragnted mories she couldn’t clarify, and looked at Ji Zhouyin, who seed sowhat worried, hesitating:

“What does the Hall Master need to do?”

Even with her confidence in Chu Zheng, the role she could play in all this was hard to guess.

“You needn’t do anything.”

After pondering for a mont, Ji Zhouyin spoke slowly:

“From today on, I will elevate your status to that of a direct disciple of the Hall Master, and all cultivation resources will be made available to you.”

Upon hearing these words, Song Lingxue felt a tremor in her heart. Being a direct disciple of the Hall Master, this status was far superior to that of the common True Inheritors of Martial Hall.

There are one hundred and eight True Inheritors of the Martial Hall, yet the direct disciples of the Hall Master, as far as Song Lingxue knew, were very few, and are at least Great Saints of the Martial Path or have even stepped into the Martial Emperor Realm.

The youngest Martial Emperor of Martial Hall, the Heavenly Punishnt Martial Emperor, held the status of a direct disciple. However, his master was a Vice Hall Master, not Ji Zhouyin.

As the Hall Master of Martial Hall, Ji Zhouyin had no direct disciples. It was said his wife had passed away early, and he had a son and a daughter within the Martial Hall, who fostered a lineage, yet their status was unannounced and they acted very low-profile.

After reflecting, Song Lingxue couldn’t help but feel puzzled:

“I’m not quite clear about the purpose of the Hall Master’s actions. Why don’t you recruit Chu Zheng directly?”

“If you want to be the thunderstorm, I can help you with that, but while you believe Chu Zheng might beco the Master of Heavenly Fortune, I do not entirely share that belief. Granting you status and resources is but to switch to another possibility.”

Ji Zhouyin shook his head: “Moreover, the Martial Hall of today is no longer solely dictated by my word. Many matters require to compromise.”

Given the connection between Song Lingxue and Chu Zheng, if Chu Zheng truly rose to power one day, wielding control over all daos, then as long as it’s not an irretrievable situation, there is a chance to turn the tables, at least to preserve Martial Hall.

It remains unconfird which Taoist Orthodoxy the fullness of Heavenly Fortune will fall to, one thing is certain, it would not be the Martial Path.

This was the conclusion drawn by Martial Ancestor when deducing the future, and it wouldn’t be wrong.

Martial Hall is faced with rely two choices: either total destruction or to strategize early and leave so leeway for the future generations.

Acting too ruthlessly invites retribution, and for years, Martial Hall has also upheld a policy of not causing unnecessary trouble.

Although Martial Hall was the most formidable in terms of combat among the various paths, the majority of its conflicts were with Otherkind, and its grievances with the Myriad Realms were not significant. Before the fallout with the Immortal Alliance, its relationship with the Immortal Path was also passable.

When the Superior Immortal Bone erged within the realm, the majority were sent to the Immortal Alliance, in exchange for fresh talents with outstanding martial talents.

As Ji Zhouyin elaborated with a few simple explanations, Song Lingxue gradually began to understand that, although the surface of Martial Hall appeared calm, underneath, turbulent undercurrents were raging.

The Martial Path is, after all, a road where one proves one’s dao through bloodshed and killing. This thod of handling affairs is no doubt awkward and frustrating for many martial cultivators.

Moreover, many of the middle-aged and younger generations within the Martial Hall are unaware of the details regarding the ultimate destiny. Even if they are aware, they refuse to accept their fate, preferring to fight to the death.

For Martial Cultivators, it is far better to drain their War Blood than to bow their heads in submission, to swallow their anger in silence. Hence, cries for battle grow louder within the Martial Hall, and the proportion of cultivators yearning for the Dao War rises year by year.

With the passage of ti, there have erged two factions within the Martial Hall.

One is the conservative faction, headed by Ji Zhouyin and another Vice Hall Master, mostly composed of the Martial Hall’s power holders; they are of high rank and weighty authority, profound in cultivation, the backbone of the Martial Hall, but most of them do not have much of their lifespan left.

The other faction is the aggressive faction, led by Fu Pinglan, the Heavenly Punishnt Martial Emperor who is about to ascend to the Ancestral Realm and currently their leading figure.

The conservative faction’s idea is still to delay the outbreak of the Dao War, to observe as much as possible among the various paths for soone who could beco the Master of Heavenly Fortune and then show goodwill in order to preserve the continuation of the Martial Path.

The Martial Path does not belong to them; it is the way left by their predecessors. It cannot be disposed of at will, nor can it block the path of those who co after.

The aggressive faction believes that it is better to initiate the Dao War directly and eradicate all Taoist Orthodoxies outside the Martial Path, thereby inaugurating a new Martial Epoch.

If not successful, then beco a martyr.

The contradictions between these two factions are quite acute and fundantally irreconcilable, with conflict inevitable sooner or later.

If not for the Martial Ancestor suppressing them from above, the Martial Hall would have probably descended into chaos long ago. This is also the most troubling issue for Ji Zhouyin nowadays.

In fact, for Martial Cultivators, the Martial Ancestor is already long-lived.

After the end of the Ancient Battle, the Martial Ancestor rose, fighting bloody battles along the way, expanding the frontiers for the Martial Path and struggling against gods for destiny.

Much of the Heavenly Fortune that the Martial Hall now holds, a great part of it, was fought for by the Martial Ancestor, one punch and one kick at a ti.

The Martial Ancestor’s life of bloodshed allowed him to live from the Late Ancient Tis to the present day, and it is inseparable from the blessing of Martial Arts Heavenly Fortune.

But the blessing of Heavenly Fortune is also limited, the end is inevitable, and even with all sorts of life-prolonging thods, it is difficult to revive the Martial Ancestor’s waning vitality.

“I originally thought that Ancestral Dao might be the one to ultimately beco the Master of Heavenly Fortune, but unexpectedly, he passed away suddenly, with not only an unknown cause of death but also the ownership of Heavenly Fortune untraceable.”

With a light tug at the corner of his mouth, Ji Zhouyin inadvertently revealed a hint of bitterness; he had searched for Ancestral Dao for a long ti but never had a chance to speak with him.

The traces left by Ancestral Dao in the Great Universe are only found at Cangyun Realm, but that was also decades ago; it is very difficult to infer his specific trajectory.

Moreover, since a Daluo Golden Immortal is close to transcending the world, unaffected by karma, it is impossible to look into further.

“You are not unaware of the mission given to by Martial Ancestor; I have no hope for the Ancestral Realm, the help I can offer you may be very limited.”

After listening to Ji Zhouyin’s words, Song Lingxue hesitated for a mont. The waters within the Martial Hall were deeper than she had imagined; stepping in might allow the developnt of many things to gradually spiral out of control.

“The Martial Hall is not determined by alone; the advancent of the Heavenly Punishnt to Martial Emperor is already a certainty. He was brought up by Fu Pinglan himself, shares the sa heart with him, and the order to pursue and kill Chu Zheng was also Fu Pinglan’s idea.”

Ji Zhouyin chuckled lightly: “For now, Fu Pinglan is tied up with matters and won’t act. But from what I know of him, once he is available, he will surely eliminate Chu Zheng and might even take action in person.”

Speaking up to this point, the smile on Ji Zhouyin’s face gradually faded, and a sense of solemn intent erged from his otherwise ordinary-looking face:

“Now that you have heard all this, if you don’t agree, I might choose to help Fu Pinglan get rid of the hidden danger of Chu Zheng in advance. Even if this decision is wrong and may trigger so uncontrollable huge changes, I would still go ahead with it.”

The struggle for Dao is like a chess ga, with each move irrevocable. To secure every move’s accuracy, so pieces, if no longer useful, must be sacrificed.
