The hospital director brought Madam Ji to the ward when she ca over.
Pei Ge heeded Ji Ziming’s advice and wrapped her left leg with a thick bandage. The blood on it was evident, making her injury seem quite serious.
“How did you end up like this? Why did you get knocked down so badly? It’s so heartbreaking.” The man’s mother placed the soup container on the side table. The look of concern on her face and the warmth from her hands were all genuine.
“I intended to bring Jingwan here, but she happened to be outside. Do you know why she returned ho ahead of you guys?” Although the older woman appeared not to be saying this on purpose, she was actually testing her.
She glanced at the man sitting at one side, and this action was captured by the older woman.
“Why, don’t tell that you did it for my son?” She sounded displeased.
“It wasn’t like that, mom.” Her son was the first to speak.

“Aren’t you here to visit Ge Ge? Don’t tell you’re here to make a punitive expedition for that woman?” The man’s eyes turned slightly colder as he shot his mother a glance. “If you’re here for her, then you can leave now; I don’t want to talk about her at the mont.”
“What’s wrong with the young lady, such that you dislike her this much? She is the Qu family’s big mistress.”
“Mom, let tell you the truth; that woman went ho earlier because—”
“Ziming!” Pei Ge interrupted him, not wanting Qu Jingwan to lose face completely.

“Alright. I’ll go; I’ll go.” His mother turned to speak to Pei Ge. “I made this soup myself, so drink it up. Whatever it is, we’ll talk once you are okay and are back ho.”
“Alright.” The other woman nodded.
When his mother left the ward, the man’s phone rang. Pei Ge beca anxious when she heard his phone ringing. She almost forgot about that call while basking in his sweet talk.
He shot a look at her and picked up the call in the corridor outside.
“How’s the investigation going?”
“Boss, I only managed to find out about that person’s daughter. All other leads are broken.”
“Daughter?” Ji Ziming frowned as he did not rember hearing about that.
“Right. She’s in your hospital, having just had a heart bypass surgery. Oh, right. The last ti I called, it was madam who picked up.”
“When was that?”
“The day before.”
“Alright. I got it. Continue with your investigation and update if there’s anything.”
“Yes, boss.”
He hung up. Only then did he understand that his woman wanted to ask him questions the other day and they were probably related to this.

“The fingerprints are his. The CCTV only captured the car and not the person.”

She took over the spoon and bowl as she continued speaking. “Where is his daughter?”
“Right in this hospital.”

“Why are we visiting her?”
She lowered her head and finished her soup. “The chicken soup isn’t bad, and this is the first ti your mom made one.”
“If you like it, I’ll get her to make it for you every day.”
“That won’t work. Have you forgotten how she looked when she inquired about that matter involving Qu Jingwan?”
“Why didn’t you let say it, then?” Ji Ziming lifted his head and looked at the woman drinking soup. His eyes darkened as he could not fathom what she wanted to do by stopping him earlier.
