Tang Xiaoyu scoffed at her.
Her face looked so pale that it was as if she were a terrifying monster which had crawled out of hell.
“...I want to let you know that, no matter what, you’re my best friend. It has always been like this and will always be. Don’t be so sarcastic toward ; that’ll only make feel very sad.”
Pei Ge walked over, sat on the stool by the bed, and looked at her best friend gently yet miserably.
She really did not like her current attitude toward her.
“Best friend...”
The other curled her lips at the corner as she shot her a glance.
This woman, who had just patched things up with her the other day, was like a different person today, and this made her uncomfortable.
“Xiaoyu, what are you going on about?”
She pursed her lips, feeling very upset.
She truly did not expect that the two of them, who were like blood-related sisters, would end up like this all because of a man.
“Do you know how I lost my child?”
The other did not reply to her question, though, but rely smiled at her.
Nevertheless, she could sense the chilliness in her smile.
“My child... died when I fell from a car on a street.”
“...”
Pei Ge’s hands balled into fists upon hearing that, and she looked at her best friend with watery eyes.
“...That must’ve been very painful.”
She sounded so hoarse and heartbroken when she stated, but the other woman seed oblivious to it as she rely continued speaking while smiling.
“Do you know why I t such an accident, though?”
She automatically shook her head at that.
“Don’t know...”
“Ha ha! Don’t know; don’t know... You don’t know, of course.”
Tang Xiaoyu laughed out loud as tears stread down her face.
It was a heartbreaking sight.
At least, her heart hurt so much that she felt constricted inside.
“Stop laughing. If you don’t feel like laughing, then don’t laugh...” She held her best friend’s hand tightly as she said this in a choked voice.
“No, I must laugh. That’s because it’s really too funny—really too funny...”
There was an unspeakable sense of hurt in the other’s laughter. Her voice even trembled when she spoke about why she had had that accident.
That tremble was one marked with... helplessness and grievances.
“My best friend. My best friend in this life. How hilarious that you’re my child’s indirect murderer...”
Tears fell like raindrops from her best friend’s eyes, which reflected her crippling pain and despair.
Pei Ge was filled with so much despair and remorse she could not help thinking that she was already in hell.
“Xiaoyu...”
She wanted her best friend to stop talking but was unable to do so in the end when she saw the tears in the latter’s eyes.
“That day, I went to find Zhengrong to discuss our wedding but was told by him that he can’t marry because my child isn’t his, claiming that he didn’t touch at all...”
Taking a deep breath, Tang Xiaoyu forced back the tears in her eyes and smiled at her.
“Ha ha! Don’t you find that amusing? He actually claid that my child isn’t his... and thought that I was evil enough to sche on him using it.”
She gripped Pei Ge’s hand tightly. Those sharp nails of hers dug deeply into the latter’s flesh, breaking the skin and drawing blood, from her use of too much force.
It should be painful, but Pei Ge seed numb to it as she looked at her best friend heartbrokenly.
“No matter how shaless I might be, I’d never cheat on him just to get a child I could claim as his, yet he actually thought badly of .” Exhaling heavily, her best friend continued. “I, of course, had to defend myself, but he told that he can’t make the sa mistake again; even if you don’t like him in this life, he’ll still break up with and confess to you...”
She was trembling as she spoke about it. Although there was a smile on her face, it was only full of despair.
“In the heat of the mont, while we were fighting...” Her eyes and face seed to be devoid of life and emotions at this point. “He pushed and I fell out of the car on the walkway...”
She could not continue after this, but Pei Ge already got how that incident had panned.

“Stop saying that. Please stop saying that...” Pei Ge reached out and pulled her best friend in her arms. “I understand your pain and why you’re blaming . I’m not angry at you because I know that you need ti. That day will co when you finally let go...”
She patted her back gently as though she were consoling a child.
She understood why her best friend, who had lost everything, was blaming her. Even if the latter knew that this matter had nothing to do with her, she could not help but be mad at her still.
“Just rember that... no matter what happens, I’ll always be your best friend. I’ll always stand by your side.”
Tang Xiaoyu cried following her declaration and slowly drifted into a sleep.
Pei Ge covered her with a blanket and carefully left the ward.
The mont she left the ward, she saw her man standing at the corridor, waiting for her.
“Ziming...”
“Co on; let’s go ho.”
This simple invitation swept away all the despondency in her heart.
