[Ha, so people are always obsessed with the issue of how many Chapters are updated each day... *sweatdrop*. Xiaodao has said it before, it’s 10,000 words a day! Even if that’s split into five Chapters, isn’t it still 10,000 words? So, please don’t get hung up on the number of Chapters. Also, friends reading this elsewhere, rember to co back and vote! As a reader of Xiaodao, tossing a few recomndation votes my way for support isn’t that hard, is it? Let’s get Proud Sword’s recomndations past 100,000 as soon as possible. That’s a little wish of mine!]

Ling Xiao hesitated for a mont before taking an Elixir from his robes. He turned the woman over and fed the Elixir into her mouth. The pill would only ensure she wouldn’t die. With such a severe Spiritual Power backlash, she couldn’t hope to recover for at least a year or two. Besides, Ling Xiao didn’t have any Elixirs for restoring Spiritual Power at the mont, and even if he did, he wouldn’t give it to her. This woman gave Ling Xiao an extrely dangerous feeling. Ye Zi was clever in her own ways, but her nature was fundantally kind—not at all like this woman, who would absolutely not hesitate when it was ti to kill.

Ling Xiao placed the High Priest on the bed, then sat down in a chair in the room. After a long while, the High Priest let out a soft moan and ca to. The mont she opened her eyes and found herself lying on a bed, she was horrified. She quickly felt her own clothes, then finally let out a long sigh of relief. Without so much as a glance at Ling Xiao, she said coolly, "I underestimated you!"

Ling Xiao said, "If there was sothing you wanted to know, I believe I would have been more than willing to tell you. Why resort to such thods? To be honest, I’m definitely no match for you. It’s just that you lost due to carelessness, and I won by a fluke."

"Hmph, I don’t need your comfort!" the High Priest said indignantly. "A loss is a loss. I won’t search for excuses to gloss over it for myself. That’s a habit of you humans!"

"Us... humans?" Ling Xiao looked at the High Priest, confused. "Are you... not human?"

"?" The High Priest gave a self-deprecating smirk. "I used to be, I suppose. But now, I believe in the Beast God. I’d rather be a Beastman! Most of the ti, the hearts of Beastn are far purer than those of humans!"

Ling Xiao smiled but didn’t reply. ’Trying to change the mind of a woman with such extre views would be incredibly difficult, and I have no desire to be a Saint. She must have suffered so injustice in the past to beco like this.’

The High Priest lay on the bed, her eyes looking a bit lifeless. She could feel the severity of her own injuries better than anyone. She said, "There’s no need to ask, but I’m going to anyway. Why did you save ? Also, what did you give ? An Elixir? Are you from one of the hidden family sects?"

The words "hidden family sects" coming from this woman’s mouth didn’t surprise Ling Xiao in the least. She could recount ancient secrets as if they were common knowledge; he would have been more surprised if she *didn’t* know about the hidden family sects.

’Hidden?’ A bitter smile touched Ling Xiao’s lips. ’Yes, I’m hidden alright. So well hidden that even I can’t find my way back.’

He nodded and said, "I guess you could say that."

"I knew it! How could the secular world possibly produce soone so outstanding!" the High Priest said, her expression a little haughty. "If I hadn’t been trying to avoid harming you at the start, and had just attacked you relentlessly with my Spiritual Power, you wouldn’t have had any chance to fight back!"

Ling Xiao nodded. It was true, and there was no point denying it. He said, "Judging by your performance back in Caron Town, you didn’t seem to have any reason to be so rciful to , did you?"

"Caron Town?" the High Priest repeated quizzically, then chuckled softly. "You know quite a lot, little one. Now I’m really starting to doubt your intentions for coming to the Beast Race. But, you won. You can state your terms now."

Ling Xiao rubbed his nose and said, "And here I was, feeling like you were the one who won."

A mischievous glint flashed across the High Priest’s face before she said, "Even though I’m heavily injured and no match for you at the mont, you should understand this: if you walk out of here right now, you definitely won’t leave alive!"

Ling Xiao laughed, unconcerned. "You’re a bit too confident saying that. Just like a mont ago, you certainly didn’t believe that my Spiritual Power could not only resist yours but also find a chance to counterattack, did you?"

The High Priest fell silent for a mont, then said, "You have a point. I was too confident. I forgot you also have a Flying Magical Beast as a pet."

Ling Xiao knew that Mad Leopard must have been the one to tell her, but he couldn’t bla it. Within the Beast Race, this woman was likely the one with the most authority.

"I want to know, why were you so desperate to learn the secrets in my mind?" Ling Xiao asked. "If you just wanted to know about the human world, surely you wouldn’t have to go to such lengths, right?"

The High Priest hesitated, then said coolly, "Don’t you find it strange? Why is it that I possess Spiritual Power comparable to a Sword Emperor, yet I seem to have no real strength at all?"

Ling Xiao nodded. Before the High Priest had used her Spiritual Power, he truly hadn’t sensed that she was a Martial Dao expert. ’Could she be like ?’ He imdiately shook his head to himself. ’That’s impossible. In this world, there aren’t any Cultivation Techniques that specialize in Spiritual Power, are there?’

The High Priest gritted her teeth and said, "I was poisoned! That’s how I ended up like this! Hmph, otherwise, I would have the strength of a Sword Emperor by now!"

"What?"

Ling Xiao stood up and walked toward the bed. The High Priest cried out in alarm, her eyes filled with fury. "What... what are you doing?"
