Sharon’s POV—
I am thinking too much, didn’t I? How can this pendant be a weapon in the first place? Nah, I am thinking too much. I put the necklace back in the box. There is no way Klurench would give Erica a weapon. This is just a normal pendant.
It’s about ti I get out from here. Should I just go back from the sa way? Or, should I choose a new way? I looked at the vines hanging from the hole. My eyes hardened. My gut says choosing the latter option will be the better one.
The vines were hanging from the hole, just barely above the pond. Can they handle my weight? They do look sturdy.
Ok, here goes nothing. I held the box with my mouth. The box’s dinsions were not very significant. Overall, it could be held with my mouth. I shot forward with my full speed and jumped from the pond’s edge.
Grasping the vines, I started climbing up. Within seconds, I climbed up from the hole and greeted the sun personally. I took out the box from my mouth and twirled it.
Taking the fresh air in, I smiled at the sight in front of . This hole opens in a small mountain. But that wasn’t the reason for my happiness. There is a village just down this mountain. Within a few minutes, I can reach there.
Well, then let’s go. Fully recharged with energy, I started climbing down the mountain. It took almost five minutes to reach down the mountain.
Reaching down the mountain, I imdiately ran towards the village.
As I entered the village, I saw... humans. I know it sounds odd, but you can’t hold it against . I an, it seems forever since I have last seen a human.
Village houses were made from stone, brick, and timber. Their roofs were thatched. So people have set up shops, while others have put a mat on the ground and made that ’bounded’ area as their shop. They put their items on the mat, and stood beside it.
As I was observing them, I found that they were also observing back with narrowed eyes. So even were looking at with dirty gazes.
I ignored their looks and tried to search for soone who could tell about this village. Suddenly, my gaze fell on a kid hiding being a drum. Hmmm... why is he looking at like this? His gaze was curious. It was obvious that I was dirty. My stolen dress is covered with dirt. Obviously, I wasn’t looking my best self. Still, it didn’t stop those bastards to throw lecherous gazes.
Deciding, I walked towards him.
The kid flinched as he saw walking towards . Just as he was about to escape, I grabbed him.
"Why are looking at with such an inquisitive gaze?" I asked.
The kid lowered his head and replied, "I am sorry."
"Kid, saying sorry won’t solve anything. You have to tell the reason." Do I look like a beggar? Yes, my clothes are tattered and I am covered in dirt and mud but that doesn’t an I am a beggar.
The kid’s ears reddened slightly. He said, "It’s because you were looking very pretty."
Oh, this is it? Of course, I know how dangerous my looks are. Even in my worst form, I look beautiful. You can even compare to a lotus. No matter how much mud covers it, the lotus won’t lose its beauty.
While I was praising myself, the kid’s next words shocked .
"I have never seen such a beautiful beggar. Big sister, are you new to this line? Normally, the beggars I have seen... they lose their beauty. They look like so hideous child kidnapping monsters," said the kid.
His words were like an arrow to my heart. It was as if soone had thrown a bucket of cold water on during the winter season.
"Tch! You are a rude kid, aren’t you?" I snorted.
The kid smiled innocently and asked, "So, you are not a beggar?" Is this kid mocking ?
The veins in my forehead bulged out. I hissed, "No!" This kid is a ’pissing-maker’ machine.
"Then why are you wearing looking so dirty? You are covered in dirt and mud. Just by looking at you, I can say that you haven’t bathed for almost week or so."
Wow, what a good mouth this kid has. Is this the generation gap?
I replied, "I was in a tough situation. So, I didn’t get any chance to clean myself. As for my clothes, I don’t have one. For now, only. In the future, I would have a lot of dresses. And trust , your small brain can’t even count them."
The kid laughed, "You are a funny one, aren’t you? My na is Jaffer. What’s your na?"
"Eraude," I lied. It’s better that I hide my identity for now. Although, I am sure... no one would believe .
"So, Eraude, it’s my first ti seeing you. Why have you co here? Our village rarely attracts foreigners. Especially, beggars don’t usually co here this often. Although, we do have our own group of beggars."
"Are you still going on about being a ’beggar?’ I told you... I. Am. Not. A. Beggar, understand?" I gritted out. This kid is kind of pissing off.
"Hmmm? Don’t be ashad of our profession? I am also in the sa line as yours. You can ask anyone here and they would say Jaffer is the best beggar," Jaffer scanned from top to bottom, "I think you are a rich lady who recently lost all of her wealth and was thrown out to the streets, right? Don’t worry about it. I will personally teach you."
"How kind of you!" I mocked him.
The kid smirked, "But I need sothing first. Treat this as a paynt of so sorts."
I raised my brows at the kid and asked, "What paynt?" This kid wants to swindle money from ?
Jaffer looked into my eyes and said, "Just a kiss on my lips." What the fuck is he saying?!
"No," I refused him straightforwardly.
"Why?!"
"I don’t like n. Even if I did, I won’t kiss a kid on his lips. Especially, not you. Also, I am not a paedophile. So, forget this."
"Then I will not teach you. Without , you can’t beg well," threatened the kid.
I gave him a sweet smile and slapped his back with a ’light’ punch. The kid’s eyes turned red and he started to cry.
"Hey, what are you doing with that kid?" asked a man.
Fuck! I had forgotten about the people around . This is a fucking village and I do know one thing, villages like this tend to have a close-knit relationship. But I don’t think they have any relationship with beggars. I an, beggars are... ’frowned upon,’ right?
"U-uncle... Jerald... t-this beggar h-hit ..."
"What! Don’t slander ! I just hit you lightly. I didn’t even use a single ounce of my strength. And don’t call beggar! I am not a beggar! Are you retarded? How many tis do you need to hear it from ?" I yelled in anger.
"You look like a beggar! Why are you denying it?"
"Yeah, it’s just her face that looks good. Her clothes are tattered."
"She is covered with dirt and mud."
"How can we allow a foreign beggar to co and bully our village’s beggar?"
"Who knows what she has planned for Jaffer? Thankfully, we heard his cry. Otherwise, sothing bad might have happened."
Who said that! It’s not who has planned sothing! It’s him! That kid is the one! It’s not just the kid; these villagers are retarded as well.
"Look, that kid wanted to kiss. But as a responsible adult, I... kind of... taught him a ’lesson.’ Now before you say anything, the ’lesson’ wasn’t hard. It was spontaneous. One that cos and goes," I was hit with villagers’ murderous glares," and as I can see you all are responsible adults, you must know kids’ ntality, right? They are fickle... hahaha... I am sorry. Also, as everyone here is a responsible citizen, we should maintain peace. Mahatma Gandhi once said, ’Freedom is not worth having if it doesn’t...’ No-no, no, wait. This was not the quote which I was looking for. Although, I don’t rember the quote. It doesn’t an we can underestimate the value of non-violence. So... peace?"
Everyone were looking at as if I was a fool. Good, it’s okay to treat as a fool.
Jaffer looked at with smug eyes. Wait, what is he going to do?
"S-she is lying... this w-woman threatened . She told if I-I didn’t kiss her then... she would h-hurt . *Hic* She even said that she is a p-paedophile and she likes g-good and t-t-tender kids. When I refused... hic... she h-hit ."
