"Damn it!" Jimmy Horne cursed imdiately upon hearing this, his face darkened with frustration. How could Grandma do this to him? Even if he didn't have soone he loved, he was only twenty-three and had just returned to the country. When he ca back to the Horne Family, Grandma hadn't even seen him yet, so how could she choose a fiancée for him?
This doesn't seem reasonable, does it?
"That's it, I'll hang up now. See you at ho." Ivan Horne on the other end had already hung up.
Jimmy Horne glared at his phone, wanting to throw it to the ground.
"What's wrong?"
Camila Ruiz asked with concern.
Jimmy Horne didn't speak but suddenly pulled her fiercely into his arms, "I don't want anyone but you!"
Camila Ruiz didn't quite understand the aning of his words at first, but a mont later, she realized, her face turning a bit pale.
Could it be that the Horne Family doesn't want her to be with him? Right, there were rumors outside that she and Ivan Horne were a couple!
Could it be...
Camila Ruiz didn't want to think further, sowhat afraid that the road ahead for her and Jimmy Horne wouldn't be easy.
"Camila, no matter what happens, you must believe . I won't want anyone other than you. In this life and the next, I'll only love you, Camila Ruiz, and only cherish you. Do you rember what you said eight years ago? That you would only marry a man who stands tall and loves his wife dearly. For these eight years, for that promise, I've worked tirelessly to make myself a man who stands tall." Realizing her change in mood, Jimmy Horne imdiately cupped her face and spoke deeply.
The two were torn apart by fate for eighteen years and couldn't be together. Now that they've reunited, he won't let anyone or anything separate them again.
Without asking what Ivan Horne had just said, Camila Ruiz chose to trust him. She nodded and leaned her head on his solid shoulder.
Her godmother once told her that she had been married to her godfather for over twenty years, and the relationship was still as honest and sweet as newlyweds. It was because her godmother fully trusted her godfather, so there were rarely any conflicts between them, and their love remained strong.
She wanted to learn from her godmother and trust Billy's heart.
"Ring, ring, ring..."
Billy's phone rang again.
This ti, it was his subordinate calling. His subordinate had found out the cause of Charles Colson's car catching fire. It was a man nad Joseph Colson who ordered people to keep an eye on Charles and tampered with his car when Charles was out eting soone, causing the fire. Joseph's target was Charles and didn't intend to involve Camila Ruiz; her being caught up in it was purely accidental.
"I understand."
Jimmy Horne replied in a low voice.
His subordinates also inford him that Joseph Colson was Charles's half-brother.
A rival with enemies, and the rival doesn't even have the ability to protect Camila; to him, that's a significant weakness.
Jimmy Horne hung up the phone once more, then led Camila Ruiz out of the Main House, taking Florence Ford and another bodyguard with them to leave the Naless Manor, heading towards the Golden Kirin Garden.
anwhile, on the other end, after hanging up the phone, Ivan Horne walked out of his office with a smug look, his handso face filled with mischief.
Earlier, he had said what he did on purpose.
How could Grandma possibly choose a fiancée for Jimmy Horne so quickly?
There were indeed a few young girls at ho, but they were the granddaughters of Grandma's card-playing friends, just visiting the Horne Family.
Being well-inford, he had found out about the situation at ho first and decided to give Jimmy Horne a scare, who had bullied his beloved sister Camila.
"Manager Horne."
As Ivan Horne walked out of the elevator, a receptionist on duty approached cautiously, saying, "There are many reporters outside the company who want to interview you."
Upon hearing this, Ivan Horne looked out through the large glass doors, and though it was far, he could still see about a dozen reporters waiting outside the company. He frowned, puzzled why so many reporters would suddenly want to interview him. Besides being the eldest son of the Horne Family, there wasn't much about him that should interest these reporters, especially since he hadn't yet climbed to the CEO position of the Valence Group and was not yet a prominent figure. Moreover, he usually kept a low profile and had never been interviewed by reporters.
"Should we have the security guards drive them away?"
The receptionist cautiously observed Ivan Horne's expression.
Ivan Horne gestured for her to be silent, exuding authority. He pursed his lips and strode outside.
A few minutes later, he drove another car out of the company. The black rcedes had been borrowed by Jimmy Horne, and the black sedan he left at the company as a backup was unexpectedly put to use today.
But he stopped after leaving the company, as the reporters had blocked his way. Taking a deep breath, he rolled down the window, presenting a gentle and courteous deanor, a stark contrast to his earlier stern self.
His ability to change expressions like flipping a book left people guessing about his true nature.
"Mr. Horne, we just received a report from a citizen, saying there was a sudden car fire involving Mr. Charles Colson, the General Manager of Twick Shoe Factory, a subsidiary of the Valence Group. With him was Miss Camila Ruiz, and another unidentified handso young man, who was very close to Miss Camila, hugging and holding her intimately. Isn't Miss Camila Ruiz your fiancée? Have you broken up? Is there a third party?"
A young, pretty, bold, and lodious-voiced female reporter was the first to ask.
Ivan Horne looked at her, then smiled charmingly. Even without smiling, his devilish looks already captivated many won. Now, his smile was even more enchanting, almost stealing the soul of the young reporter, leaving her dazed for nearly a minute before she snapped back to reality.
"Miss, do I look like soone who's had a breakup?" Ivan Horne asked the reporter with a mild smile while a flicker of coldness flashed deep in his eyes.
Inwardly, he mused, Charles Colson's car caught fire?
Camila Ruiz was with Charles Colson at the ti?
They weren't hurt, which is good, but why did Charles Colson's car catch fire? Was it tampered with? This matter must be investigated. His future capable assistant must not be hard at will, and most importantly, it shouldn't affect Camila.
His mother's belly was uncooperative. Back then, he and his father waited outside the delivery room for so long, only for Felix Horne to be born, and he couldn't describe his disappointnt at not having a sister. As he grew older, realizing his parents didn't plan to have more children, he knew having a sister was hopeless, so he clung to Camila, treating her as his sister.
