He’s sharp; she just started talking, and he already knew what she was thinking.

With such sharp eyes, no wonder he climbed up to the General Manager position at the Twick Shoe Factory.

Camila Ruiz thought to herself.

Yet she defiantly asked, "You’re already twenty-six, old enough to get married and have kids."

"I appreciate your kindness, but Charles understands well enough himself." Charles Colson’s voice turned deep. The one he loved was her; did she have no idea at all? Yet he kept his feelings buried deep, acting like a brother most of the ti. She didn’t know, and he didn’t bla her.

Sotis, he considered confessing to her, but each ti he saw her chatting away on the phone with a man he hadn’t t before, he hesitated.

He knew the na Jimmy Horne but not the person. He didn’t know what Jimmy looked like, but he knew she had Jimmy in her heart. In her heart, the first place was not Ivan, who cherished her dearly, nor was it him, who had spent eight years growing up with her and protecting her. It was Jimmy, her childhood rival.

At twenty-three, Camila Ruiz had blossod, not a stunning beauty but still charming. Wherever she went, she was an enticing sight, with a 99.9% chance of turning heads. Countless n pursued her. Every day Charles would drive her to the company, and as soon as she got out of the car, she would receive bouquets from admirers or love-inspired breakfasts.

She declined them all, never accepting a bouquet or a box of breakfast. Besides Ivan, she only had Charles by her side, but both were placed in a position of brotherhood to her.

"Charles, stop the car." Camila saw many fresh longans at the street-side fruit store and imdiately shouted.

Charles glanced outside, understanding, and stopped in front of the fruit store.

"Give five minutes." Camila quickly opened the car door, slipped out, and hurried into the fruit store. In no ti, she picked several clusters of branch-grown longans, and just as she was about to pay, Charles’s deep voice sounded, "Let pay."

Then a red bill was handed over to the fruit store owner.

Camila didn’t mind; with Charles, anything she wanted to buy, he would insist on paying. Occasionally, when she insisted on paying, he would show his displeasure, at least with a sour face for an hour.

After paying, Camila carried a small bag of longans out of the fruit store and returned to the car.

She took her white handbag, unzipped it, and stuffed the small bag of longans inside. The company had a rule that regular employees weren’t allowed to bring food back to eat. The senior managers could, like her dear Godfather, who had a snack cabinet fitted in the CEO’s Office, filled with Godmother Julia’s favorite snacks.

She had entered the CEO’s Office once, and upon seeing the snack cabinet, she was moved by her Godfather’s love for Godmother and her longing for Jimmy Horne deepened, hoping to receive pure and profound love like Godmother did.

"I put so of your favorite snacks in your handbag last night," Charles remarked with a slight smile, watching her through the rear-view mirror.

"I bought them for Brother Ivan. You might not know, but Ivan loves eating longans." Camila replied, already stuffing the longans into the bag, making it bulge. She zipped it up again, noticing Charles’s silence, and curiously asked, "Charles, what’s wrong?"

Charles smiled, hiding his jealousy of Ivan’s favoritism because she rembered Ivan’s favorite fruit. "It’s nothing."

Camila didn’t pursue the matter further, leaning back in the car seat, turning her head to gaze at the street view.

At 7:58, the two arrived at Valence Group.

Charles didn’t drive into Valence Group, but stopped in front of the company gate, turned apologetically to Camila, "Camila, I have an important client eting at nine. Twick Shoe Factory is forty minutes away, so I can’t take you inside. Hurry, you have only two minutes before you’re late. Rember your bonus."

"Got it, I will sprint like a hundred ters to punch my card before eight." Camila said while getting out of the car, sprinting toward the company, her distant figure calling back, "Goodbye Charles. Don’t pick up at noon; Brother Ivan is treating."

Charles watched her dash away, not caring about the high heels she was wearing, and shook his head involuntarily.

That girl loved to sleep in the morning; she would always arrive at the company at the last minute, and as an ordinary assistant, she had to clock in and out. To avoid losing her bonus for being late, she had perfected the art of running fast in high heels.

Charles didn’t leave imdiately, watching her until she ran into that 68-story office building before pulling back his gaze and driving off.

Ivan Horne’s office was on the 32nd floor, and Camila Ruiz, being his assistant, naturally worked there too.

Camila got to the 32nd floor and imdiately returned to her little office. As an assistant, she was supposed to work mixed amongst the employees in the Plum Blossom Office, but Ivan knew she would secretly snack, so he specially arranged a small office for her, separating her from others.

The colleagues knew the relationship between the two families; rumors flew that Ivan deeply loved Camila, so Ivan’s action didn’t provoke resentnt but made everyone feel he was tender like his father, loving his unwed wife.

Sitting in the black office chair, Camila pulled out her phone again to make a call, but after ringing for a long ti, the other side still didn’t answer. Her face filled with confusion, but more was concern.

She tried calling several tis; each ti, the call didn’t connect, so she had to give up and send a text. She quickly typed a line: Billy, are you alright? Are you busy? Why haven’t you answered my calls for a week or replied to my ssages?

After typing, she pressed send.

Once the ssage was sent, she placed her phone on the right side of the desk and started working.

Even though she started working, her ears were alert, hoping to hear the ssage tone, but after half an hour, the phone still lay quietly on the desk.

Suppressing her frustration, she walked out of her small office heading toward the Manager’s Office.

Reaching Ivan’s Office, she knocked; there was no response, so she pushed the door open and found that Ivan hadn’t arrived. She then placed all the docunts and notices needing Ivan’s review and handling on Ivan’s desk before withdrawing.
