Adele Horne did not speak.

After entering the house with her son in her arms, she headed straight upstairs.

Back in her room, she put little Billy down on the floor and had him stand there while she walked into the inner room. She went to her dressing table and rummaged through drawers and boxes for quite a while before she finally found the Cartier n's necklace that Noah Reyes had given her years ago. Then she hung the necklace around Billy's neck and said, "Billy, this is the gift your daddy gave you. You wear it."

The necklace looked out of place on a child of just over three, but as soon as Billy heard that it was a gift from his father, he was overjoyed. He held the necklace, examining it repeatedly. When he saw the engraved Chinese character for 'black' on it, he asked curiously, "Mommy, why is there a character for 'black' on it?"

Kindergarten for his age group didn't cover much yet, but Ivan Horne and Jimmy Horne had started their education at the age of two. Glades Horne had hired professional private tutors to teach the two cousins. He sent them to kindergarten so they could socialize and grow up like normal children, but they had learned many tis more than the average child and already recognized many Chinese characters.

"I don't know, probably your daddy likes this character," Adele replied, choosing not to tell her son that his biological father's surna was likely to be Black.

Little Billy did not ask any further questions.

He looked at the necklace over and over again—it was a gift from his daddy, and he was determined to wear it well.

Watching her son's small gestures, Adele's heart couldn't help but ache.

She had given her son double the motherly love, and her family had showered him with endless affection, but none of that could erase her son's yearning for his father's love.

She was twenty-six now, soon to turn twenty-seven. Was it ti to think about her own life? Through the years, the gossip about her had faded and lost its flavor. After spending years in the business world alongside her sister-in-law, she had t many talented young n. There were those who liked her, but it was because of her son that she was unwilling to give them a chance.

"Billy."

Adele couldn't help but squat down and hug her child close. I'm so sorry, my son, she thought. She had failed to give her son a complete family.

"Mommy." Billy hugged his mother's neck in return.

The room beca exceptionally quiet.

The mother's guilt and the son's longing for his father's love mingled together, creating an especially heartbreaking atmosphere.

「At nine o'clock in the evening.」

After coming out of the bathroom, Julia held a clean towel, wiping the droplets from her long hair.

Her hair, which she had been growing for over three years, had reached her waist.

At work, she wore it in a high bun. At ho, she usually let it down. Glades Horne liked it when she had her hair down, finding her dark and silky strands irresistible.

For the umpteenth ti, Glades brought the hairdryer to dry her hair for her.

"Don't et with clients who aren't very important anymore; let Sister Li handle them," Glades said after drying her hair. He then carried her back to bed, and they both tumbled onto it. "That way you'll have more ti to spend with ."

"We're an old married couple now," Julia said with a soft smile, gently tapping his forehead with her hand.

"So what if we're an old married couple? Can't an old married couple enjoy so romance?"

KNOCK KNOCK. "Mommy, Mommy, I want to sleep with you," ca Ivan Horne's youthful voice from outside the door.

Glades's expression darkened. That kid, coming to be a third wheel at a ti like this!

The nanny's soft voice followed, "Young Master Ivan, the Master and Madam are asleep. Co, let's go back to your room, alright?"

"I want to sleep with Mommy. It's been a long ti since I slept with Mommy."

Ivan's insistent voice followed, along with renewed knocking.

Julia glanced at Glades, whose face had darkened, and pushed his heavy body aside with an amused smile. Then she slid off the bed, put on her slippers, left the inner room, and went to open the door.

"Ivan, what's wrong?"

Julia opened the door and saw her son standing there with his little pillow, while the nanny stood behind him, flustered yet helpless. Seeing Julia open the door, the nanny quickly apologized, "Madam, Young Master Ivan refuses to sleep. He insists on sleeping with you."

Julia gestured for the nanny to leave, then stooped down to level herself with her son, smiling warmly as she asked, "Ivan, what's wrong tonight?" Ever since her son was weaned, he no longer shared a room with her, and the nanny had taken full care of him. His sudden desire to sleep with her tonight must have a reason.

"Mommy, you ca ho late today and didn't have ti to be with ," Ivan said. "So I want to sleep with you. That way, you can be with all night." His delicate and handso features were reminiscent of a little cherub, his beautiful eyes particularly striking.

Although he occasionally displayed a maturity beyond his years, at just over three, he was still a child and retained his innocence.

After speaking, Ivan, pillow in tow, walked right into his parents' large bedroom.

"Ivan…" Julia stood up helplessly and closed the door.

She didn't mind, but the man in the inner room, whose face was darkening with displeasure, certainly did.

Sure enough—

"Kid, back to your own room!"

The tall and imposing Glades, his desires cruelly cut short by his son, wore a dark expression. When his son ca in with his pillow and announced he wanted to sleep with Mommy, Glades imdiately and unceremoniously picked him up, intending to toss him out.

He wasn't about to let this little rascal disturb their private ti.

"Daddy, I want to sleep with my mommy."

Ivan struggled with all his might, trying to resist his father's strength. But his resistance was laughably insignificant against his father's strength; it was useless. Daddy usually doted on him, but at night, he changed completely, only caring about Mommy.

"No!"

Glades set his son down on the floor, his tall figure blocking the doorway, glaring down at his son from above.

Ivan looked up, unfazed by his father's displeased handso face or his unfathomable eyes, and retorted, as if breathless with indignation, "Why not? Mommy is mine."
