"Where is Jas? Do you know?" Julia suddenly asked. Jas Horne had also been missing for nearly two months and hadn't contacted his family at all. Rebecca Hughes had co to the Horne Family several tis to ask about him.

She could tell that Rebecca Hughes and Jas Horne had a good relationship. Even if they weren't a couple yet, at least Rebecca had entered Jas's life, which was quite rare. She had known Jas for twenty-seven years, and apart from her and her sister, he seldom interacted with other won. She used to think Jas was arrogant, that no woman could catch his eye, but now she knew it was because of her. Seeing Rebecca co eagerly each ti only to leave in disappointnt, it was clear her heart had quietly fallen for Jas. She really hoped that through Rebecca, Jas could let go of his unrequited love. Because she could never have any romantic developnt with him. In this lifeti, or even the next, they could only remain as brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

"I do."

Glades Horne answered honestly. When he was dealing with Pheobe Rogers, Jas Horne had co to him, presumably to plead for Pheobe. But in the end, Jas said nothing, just gave Glades a deep look before walking away. After that, he disappeared for nearly two months. Glades knew exactly where Jas had gone. One phone call, and he could find out. But it was clear Jas just wanted so quiet ti. Glades also knew how distressed Jas was. He was torn between his birth mother—who, no matter how cruel or wicked, was still his mother—and his respected elder brother, whom he had once cherished with an almost romantic devotion. He always told himself that he would never oppose his elder brother in this lifeti nor allow anyone to hurt him. When his mother and elder brother were in opposition, he was caught in a difficult situation; siding with either would cause him pain. So, he simply played the deserter this ti, disappearing and helping neither side.

"Before he disappeared from this ho, he sent a ssage," Julia continued.

"He asked you to spare Pheobe's life, didn't he?" Glades knew his brother's heart well. The only person who could persuade Glades to spare Pheobe's life was Julia. Everyone knew Julia was Glades's weakness. They thought she could be persuaded to help with anything. However, they didn't realize Julia was an independent woman with her own thoughts and principles, not soone who could be swayed by others.

Julia nodded.

"Will you plead for Pheobe?"

Glades gently took her delicate hand. It always felt as soft as if it were boneless.

"What do you think I will do?" Julia countered, turning the question back on him, and took his strong hand in hers. He was born into a prestigious family, a golden child from birth. Yet, his large hands, though thick, also bore so calluses.

Playing with his hand, Julia found it quite amusing.

Glades smiled lightly, letting her play with his hand. Both their hands were similarly long and slender, though his were powerful while hers were soft. Palm against palm, it was as if their hearts were connected. Fingers interlaced, threads of affection wound between them, as if even their hands were a perfect match, made for each other.

"The blow I deal to her now is light, but sufficient to achieve another purpose," Glades said, his smile fading as he spoke in a low voice. Retaliating against Pheobe involved far more than re economic sanctions.

He didn't press further on whether Julia would plead for Pheobe. He knew she wouldn't. However, he was certain of one thing: Julia definitely wouldn't approve of him taking Pheobe's life.

"No matter what else you're planning, Glades, just make sure your hands don't get stained with her blood. She's not worth it," Julia said earnestly.

Holding her tight, Glades placed a kiss on her hair and said, "I know. Given her nature and her current state of bordering on madness, it won't be long before she runs into my line of fire. I want more than for her to lose my father's love and Jas's affection. I want her to spend the rest of her life never seeing daylight, completely devoid of freedom!"

He had already made thorough preparations, just waiting for Pheobe to walk into his trap.

"Tomorrow, I'll take you to the company for a visit, alright? Mom's beauty salon has also opened. You don't have much to keep you busy now, do you? It must be boring staying at ho all the ti. I hate to see you unhappy," Glades said, changing the subject. He didn't want to discuss his father and Pheobe any further.

"My boring days at ho are all thanks to you. And who was it that ordered I'm not allowed to wander around?" Julia pouted, her tone playfully reproachful. Ever since her belly had beco noticeably round, Glades had grown increasingly anxious. He instructed Uncle Ying to watch her closely and not let her go out casually, fearing any mishap.

Her days of pregnancy were becoming increasingly dull.

Although her sister was also at ho, her sister had to take care of Marcel Horne, assisting him in getting back on his feet. Marcel could now stand and walk for a few minutes, and the day he could truly stand again was near. Dr. Lei said his recovery rate was astonishing, almost a miracle, remarking on the great power of love.

"You can go out with bodyguards," Glades chuckled softly, indirectly admitting his protectiveness might have been a bit excessive.

"Dr. Lei said the baby is very healthy and I'm in good shape, so you don't need to be so nervous and worried. Don't think I haven't noticed—for several nights now, I've woken up to find you sitting by the bed, just staring at my belly with a panicked look on your face. Glades, you haven't seen them, but many pregnant won out there still do a lot of work, especially in the countryside. They often work right up until they're about to give birth. Rachel is three months pregnant, and she's still up early every day helping the workers with deliveries. Hansen Ruiz isn't nearly as anxious and scared as you are," Julia said, trying to soothe her husband's excessive anxiety.

It was as if she were carrying a bomb in her belly, and he was constantly worried it might explode.

"You can't see when Hansen Ruiz gets nervous."

Glades couldn't help but speak up for himself.

Julia was speechless. Indeed, she couldn't see when Hansen Ruiz was nervous.

"I will try to be with you every day."

"Mm, but you can't neglect your work either."
