Seeing Jas Horne, she blinked at him.

After performing a routine checkup on Marcel Horne, she reminded the Horne family not to talk for too long and to ensure the patient rested more, before she finally left the ward.

This girl is two-faced! Jas Horne thought to himself.

Although the two t again, they hadn’t exchanged a single word.

The balcony had no heating, and as the night deepened, it grew increasingly cold.

Suddenly, a thick suit jacket was draped over Glades Horne’s shoulders from behind. The cigar he held was taken by a pair of delicate hands and then extinguished.

"Worried about sothing?" Julia Bluen asked softly.

"It’s cold on the balcony; let’s go back inside." Glades Horne turned, took her hand, and the couple headed back into the room.

He closed the glass door to the balcony, and none of the room’s warmth could reach it now.

"Why did you wake up?" Once back inside, Glades Horne picked her up and carried her back to bed. He gently laid her on the soft mattress and looked at her tenderly, his earlier heaviness now concealed.

"When you’re not by my side, I wake up." Julia Bluen sat up, helped him off with his jacket, and pulled him onto the bed. They lay down together, pulling the duvet over themselves.

Embracing her, Glades Horne whispered softly, "Let’s sleep now."

"You’re worried about Brother Marcel, aren’t you?" Julia Bluen didn’t fall asleep as he suggested but instead asked gently. Ever since Marcel Horne’s accident, the couple hadn’t spoken as softly and gently as they were in this mont for a week.

Every day, Glades Horne was busy finding doctors for Marcel Horne and also had to dedicate so of his attention to managing the Group’s affairs. As for Julia, besides her own work, she took care of his family on his behalf and also tried to console her older sister.

The warmth between them hadn’t been expressed for a week.

"Seeing Marcel like this, as his older brother, how could I not be worried? I worry for Marcel just like you worry for your sister," Glades Horne said softly.

Julia Bluen hugged his waist, snuggling closer into his embrace. She understood his feelings.

"It will be alright. I believe my sister can definitely help Brother Marcel regain his confidence."

"Marcel loves your sister deeply, but at this mont, he’s also conflicted. He must be afraid of being a burden to your sister, yet he’s also terrified of losing her."

Glades Horne sighed softly. He understood Marcel Horne’s inner conflict.

"My sister won’t abandon him."

Glades Horne remained silent. No matter how much they said or how much they believed, it would be useless. Marcel Horne had to believe it himself.

It wasn’t just Glades Horne who understood Marcel Horne’s turmoil—Sovia Morris, as his mother, had also realized it long ago.

The old lady’s words led Sovia Morris to make a decision.

「Early the next morning」

In the still-gray dawn, Sovia Morris found ti to rush to the Bluen family ho.

The previous day, when Ruby Bluen had returned ho to bathe and change her clothes, Chris Bluen, distressed by her gaunt appearance, had firmly insisted she stay ho for the night.

When Sovia Morris arrived at the Bluen family ho, Ruby Bluen was already up. She was in the kitchen, watching a servant simr bone broth for her, which she intended to take to the hospital for Marcel Horne.

Hearing that Sovia Morris had arrived, she feared sothing had happened to Marcel Horne and rushed out of the kitchen in a panic.

"Auntie, what’s happened to Marcel? Is it his injuries...?" Ruby Bluen ran over to Sovia Morris, who had been shown to a seat in the living room by the servant. Ruby’s face was pale, her anxiety palpable.

Sovia Morris stood up, her gaze fixed on the anxious Ruby Bluen. An unnatural expression flickered across Sovia’s face, but it was imdiately followed by a look of determination.

"Ruby," she said, "Marcel is fine. I’m here to ask you for a favor."

Relieved to hear Marcel Horne was fine, Ruby Bluen cald down.

"Auntie, I’ll head to the hospital once the broth is ready. If there’s anything, we can discuss it when I get there," she said.

"No, I don’t want Marcel to know about this yet." Sovia Morris’s eyes flickered slightly; she knew that if Marcel found out she had co to ask Ruby this, he would certainly reproach her.

"Auntie, what is it?"

"Ruby," Sovia Morris looked at Ruby Bluen and said, her tone filled with an imnse plea, "I’m here to ask you to marry my son, Marcel!" She had once strongly disliked Ruby Bluen being with her son. But now that her son was in trouble, Ruby Bluen had beco his emotional anchor and the pillar of his strength. For her son to recover, only Ruby Bluen, as his wife by his side taking care of him, could help him regain his confidence. He would also, out of a sense of responsibility, find the strength to stand again.

If it would help her son regain his confidence, she would even be willing to kneel and beg Ruby Bluen—as long as Ruby wouldn’t be cruel and abandon her son.
