She didn't want to be that kind of wife. Glades Horne was calm and mature, showered her with affection, and would never control her. She had no desire to control him either.

Glades Horne turned his head to look deeply at her, offering no further explanation.

A mont later, a car quickly arrived and stopped next to Glades Horne's car. The other driver rolled down their window, and Glades did the sa. The other person passed a small square box to Glades, then rolled up their window and drove away.

After rolling up his window, Glades handed the small square box to Julia, his deep voice filled with an intoxicating tone. "This is for you."

Julia took the box, and then he started the car.

He had given her so many things. Julia had initially guessed at what might be inside the small box, wondering what he would surprise her with this ti. But when she took the box and saw pictures of cell phones on it, she knew it contained a phone. She opened the box and took out the phone. It was a new model, very small and light, almost like not carrying anything at all. She looked up at Glades. Why was he suddenly giving her a cell phone? Didn't she already have one?

"You always like to walk around the house without your phone, saying it's a bit heavy, so I'm giving you the latest and lightest one. This way, you can carry it with you all the ti and not feel burdened. The feeling of not being able to reach you drives crazy," Glades explained softly, his voice void of any criticism for Julia's habit of forgetting her phone.

Julia held the phone and liked it at first sight.

Glades knew her preferences like the back of his hand, always gifting her things she loved most.

Stretching out her left hand, she grasped Glades's large hand on the steering wheel, promising, "Grandma ca over too early and suddenly today; that's why I didn't bring my phone. I won't say 'it won't happen again,' because it seems I've said it quite a few tis already." Julia playfully stuck out her tongue, feeling her promises sotis held no value. "The cell phone you gave , I will carry with twenty-four hours a day."

Seeing her small, soft hand holding his and listening to her sweet voice tinged with a hint of apology, Glades smiled faintly and said nothing more.

The car briefly fell silent, but it lasted only a minute or two. Julia feared silence the most when she was with him because his tall fra always emitted an oppressive aura. Even though he was very gentle with her, sotis that aura couldn't be concealed. As soon as he pursed his lips and remained quiet, it would erge, making the air inside the car feel stifling.

Julia chattered away with Glades about anything and everything, just to fill the car with sound.

Glades drove, only half-listening as his wife chattered on. His handso features softened, and while his sharp, eagle-like eyes remained focused on the road, they also held a touch of gentleness. A smile occasionally played on his lips.

With her by his side, his world was filled with motivation.

Soon, the two of them arrived at the Police Station.

After finishing their statents, they ran into Benjamin Robinson. Glades greeted him, but Benjamin was busy solving a case and had no ti for idle chat with his close friend. So, after the brief greeting, Glades took Julia and left the Police Station.

The couple hurried to the Activity Center.

It was almost noon. Indeed, the Activity Center was crowded, mostly with elderly people. These were seniors who often had no one at ho to accompany them and felt bored. Fortunately, soone had organized this center where, for a small fee, they could co to make friends, play chess, chat, stroll, admire flowers, and sip tea—activities that made their lives much more fulfilling than staying at ho.

There were also so younger people, all accompanying their elderly relatives.

As it was Saturday, the companions were mostly children, around ten years old or so.

Today, an event was being held—a calligraphy contest. Everyone participated regardless of whether they could win; participation was what mattered. By the ti Glades and Julia arrived, Glades's grandmother had already finished her turn in the contest. It was conducted in rounds, and many other elderly people were still competing.

In the Activity Center, the couple quickly found the grandmother. She was admiring the flowers, supported by Uncle Ying and Aunt i. The center cultivated flowers for all seasons, ensuring there were blooms year-round. It was evident that the organizers had put a lot of thought into its creation, all with the aim of making the elderly happy.

With a grandson and granddaughter-in-law present, both handso and beautiful, the grandmother instantly beca the focus of everyone's attention.

Receiving the envious gazes of those around her, the grandmother felt elated.

She felt as though the loneliness of guarding an empty house and waiting for her children and grandchildren to find ti to visit had been swept away in that mont.

Feeling happy, the grandmother beca more talkative. She led Glades and Julia here and there, introducing every corner of the Activity Center to them, and chatted with Julia about anything under the sun, even discussing which daughter-in-law had quarreled with her mother-in-law. Julia listened, occasionally sharing her own thoughts, while Glades just followed along, his deep eyes always fixed on his wife.

At noon, everyone went to have lunch, and the Activity Center temporarily quieted down. Around three or four in the afternoon, so elderly people would return to continue playing chess and chatting. The grandmother didn't want to co back. She said it had been a long ti since she had visited the seaside and wanted to see the ocean. Glades agreed that after lunch, she could rest at ho for a couple of hours, and then in the afternoon, he would accompany her to the seaside.

「Emperor hotel.」

In a luxurious private room on the second floor, Orlando Evans and her brother were sitting at a table, waiting for Adele Horne's arrival.

They had initially planned to et with Adele Horne in the afternoon, but instead, Adele had taken the initiative to invite Orlando Evans to lunch. On weekends, mbers of the Horne Family each had their own plans, and hardly anyone ate at ho; Adele was no exception.

She liked dining at the Emperor hotel because, firstly, the food was genuinely excellent, and secondly, it was high-class, reflecting her status as a young lady from a prominent family.

Othiel Evans, who had dyed his hair black, looked more handso than usual. Though only twenty-one years old, because he frequented the company of won, he seed sowhat mature for his age. At that mont, sitting at the dining table, he rather had the air of a successful Businessman.
