The old lady visited about three or four tis a month. She had gotten to know many people: regular folks, those of her own status, and even so wives of officials. In any case, a variety of social standings was represented. Whenever she arrived, her old friends were always there before her. So of those who resented the wealthy would whisper behind her back, saying she was full of herself and that they didn't want to associate with her.
"Have Glades go directly to the Activity Center for the Elderly." The old lady descended the steps while i, her maid, stepped forward to open the car door. Julia Bluen helped the old lady into the car, still sitting beside her. i and Uncle Ying, who was acting as the driver, sat in the front.
Julia complied with the old lady's wishes. Since she didn't have her phone, she used the old lady's phone to call Glades Horne and asked him to go directly to the Activity Center for the Elderly. After Glades agreed, she hung up.
The car left the Emperor hotel. In front of it were two wide roads with traffic flowing in both directions. To get to the Activity Center for the Elderly, the old lady's car needed to cross to the opposite road.
As soon as the old lady erged from the hotel, the van also started moving.
They intentionally drove their van over, stopping it right in front of the old lady's car. This blocked her path and forced Uncle Ying to stop. As Uncle Ying was about to maneuver around the van to reach the opposite road, three of the four n in the van jumped out, its doors flung open. The three n rushed towards the old lady's car. In a flash, they pulled open her car door and were about to drag her out to kidnap her when two tall n in black suits sprang into action. With swift moves, they apprehended the assailants, pinning them to the ground with their hands twisted behind their backs, much like police officers making an arrest.
Even though it all happened in an instant, Julia, i, and the others reacted quickly. They jumped out of the car, shouting for help. This attracted the attention of the hotel's security guards, who then helped capture the remaining kidnapper trying to flee in the van.
These kidnappers were quick and audacious enough to attempt a kidnapping in broad daylight, but they were ultimately foolish. They had grown impatient and decided to change their plan, attempting to kidnap the old lady right in front of the hotel. However, they overlooked the fact that a high-end establishnt like the Emperor hotel had several security guards posted at its entrance. Weren't they just walking into a trap? Did they really think they could escape swiftly just because they had a car?
However, if it weren't for the sudden appearance of the two tall n, the old lady would indeed have fallen into the hands of the kidnappers. After all, with heavy traffic on both roads, a car could easily be swallowed by the flow. Where could one even begin to search for the old lady then?
Moreover, no one had expected anyone to dare target the matriarch of the Horne family.
Uncle Ying promptly called the police.
The old lady also got out of the car. Julia quickly supported her, asking with concern, "Grandma, are you okay?"
Her own hands trembled slightly; she was frightened. If anything had happened to the old lady, how would she explain it to the many mbers of the Horne family? How would she face Glades?
"I'm fine; I've seen my share of things," the old lady calmly patted Julia's hand, seemingly unshaken.
Casting a glance at the four inept kidnappers, the old lady then turned her attention to the two tall n who had appeared suddenly.
Their actions were rapid, almost as if they had been watching the kidnappers the whole ti. How did they know the kidnappers were after ? Judging by their skills, they seem like police officers—could they be plainclothes officers? But they don't have handcuffs, so they probably aren't. Regardless of who they are, hiring people like them as bodyguards to protect my Horne family descendants would be excellent.
"Thank you," Julia said on behalf of the old lady to the two tall n.
The two n released the kidnappers to the hotel security guards. They then stood up and turned to leave, their departure as swift as their intervention, their movents lightning-fast.
These two n looked familiar, Julia thought, a sudden realization striking her.
She quickly handed the old lady over to i and dashed forward to intercept the two tall n. To her surprise, she discovered they were the sa kind-hearted individuals who had saved her from Nicholas Coldwell at the hospital and who had returned the bag she'd left at Serendipity Cafe.
Julia was no fool. Once could be a coincidence, twice might also be a coincidence, but a third ti had to be intentional.
"It's you!" Julia exclaid in a low voice, her tone clearly one of astonishnt.
The two n's faces showed little expression, their eyes steady. They rely glanced at Julia briefly, and one of them asked politely, "Miss, is there sothing else you need?"
"Thank you. May I ask who you are? This is the third ti I've run into you." Each ti I find myself in trouble, they seem to descend from the heavens.
They certainly weren't good Samaritans who just happened to be passing by; they seed more like people secretly protecting .
"The world is just too small, I guess. Miss, we have urgent matters to attend to, so we'll be leaving now. When the police officers arrive, you can simply give them a statent," one of them said. They then stepped past Julia and quickly blended into the crowd, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
Julia wanted to stop them, but there was no one left to stop.
She stood there, watching the bustling crowd, her mind racing with guesses about the situation.
I've never employed bodyguards. If soone is secretly protecting , then the person who arranged it must be Glades Horne. When exactly did he arrange for these invisible bodyguards for ? They only appear when I'm in trouble. What else has he done for without my knowing? Are these bodyguards always following ? Is it protection or surveillance?
In such situations, speculation was inevitable. Even Julia couldn't avoid these suspicions.
"Julia, do you know them? Why didn't you ask for their nas?" the old lady asked as she approached.
The police officers had arrived and were handcuffing the four kidnappers. Upon realizing that the matriarch of the Horne family was involved in the disturbance, the officers tensed up. They knew the Horne family's heir would soon be on the scene.
The officers couldn't help but marvel at the kidnappers' abysmal intelligence.
