Rumors had already spread throughout the city about Kaiden inviting the heir to Dark Spring, a surprising feat.
It’s possible that William would have co anyway, but he ca sponsored by soone, which benefited relations between the two cities, which the elders and leading clans highly value.
Therefore, Kaiden’s feat was worthy of congratulations.
"As expected of one of our longest-standing business families. Getting Young Lord William to be sponsored by you is quite a feat," said one of the elders who took the lead in speaking and looked at William.
"Young Lord William, I saw your fights, and I must say that Dark Spring has not had such a good heir in many years. I hope you will continue to show us your art from now on and that you will develop well," the elder concluded.
"Thank you, old man. Although I still lost," William replied frankly. "It seems I have to try harder."
"Hahaha, don’t be modest. You beat one of our stars very easily." Kaiden laughed heartily, even though he hadn’t witnessed the fight himself; soone had told him about it. "I dare say that the top five are very evenly matched; anyone could win this tournant," he asserted, once again, sothing he wasn’t sure about.
But the source of information that had told him this was as reliable as if he had been there himself, so he was confident in saying it.
"And that’s not a bad thing," the old man emphasized. "Having more competitors will help you develop better. As for your loss... I can only say that that boy knew your martial art very well and had good perception. Perhaps that can help you."
William nodded gently, thoughtfully. Before, he hadn’t thought much about why he lost, but he had thought about how. He felt that sothing didn’t add up, but now perhaps he understood.
’It was perception. I see. So that boy is quite powerful? He doesn’t look very old,’ he thought.
William bowed slightly to the old man. "Thank you for your advice, sir."
"Haha, as long as it helps you understand sothing, that’s enough."
Kaiden scanned the room at that mont, looking for a certain person. Then he found him.
"Oh? Isn’t this our old friend Lennon? Haha, it seems you couldn’t resist coming."
His voice imdiately drew attention once again to Lennon, who had attracted so attention at the beginning. This ti, even those dancing in the center of the great hall turned to look at him.
Lennon stared at him.
"As one of the main sponsors, I naturally have to co. I didn’t expect so many people to bring their distinguished guests, so I’m a little surprised," he said, forcing a smile.
"Hahaha, young people are very talented these days, you see," Kaiden exclaid. "But you surely invited soone. I’ve been busy recently and haven’t seen the news. Who did you invite? Bring them over, we’d all love to et them."
So elders had heard rumors about who Lennon’s guest was, so they were hoping to see them here. But they hadn’t noticed that the boy had been sitting with them for quite so ti.
And most of them weren’t fully inford. Rumors spread quickly, but during the New Year’s festivities and the hustle and bustle of the tournant, few reach the right ears.
Therefore, several were in the dark, even though so of their subordinates had heard rumors.
Kaiden was one of them.
But he was sure it couldn’t be anyone above him.
’Almost all of the top 10 are sponsored by Mr. Richard, as he is one of the few clans that he decides to sponsor, so it can’t be anyone in the top 10,’ he thought.
But suddenly he frowned. ’Wait, that’s right, Miss Juliet was in second place this ti. The first-place winner was soone who knew Young Lord William’s technique,’ he thought.
There shouldn’t be anyone in the city who could beat Juliet in this tournant, but as he recalled, he was told that she also ca in second in the first round and that the person who ca in first in that round maintained their first-place finish in the second round.
He didn’t have to think too hard.
Lennon smiled slightly and replied.
"I invited soone. Even though he doesn’t really like coming to these etings, he made an exception this ti because we’re kind of friends," said Lennon, looking behind him. "It’s Young Master Matthew. When I invited him, I didn’t expect him to co in first place, so I’m surprised. I guess he’s got so strength, right?"
That sarcastic comnt made Kaiden tense up when Matthew’s face appeared. He hadn’t been told much about this person, other than that his na was Matthew.
But was there another Matthew as good as the legendary one who appeared in recent years?
Among the crowd watching the fight, including the elders, murmurs began to rise.
"I heard he was a Lewis from the ruling family of the Dark Kingdom. Does anyone know if that’s true?"
"Actually, he is. I was in the room that day when he ntioned it. It’s just that his family doesn’t seem to want him, which is a sha because he’s a very talented young man. I didn’t see his fights, but coming in first place in both says a lot," one of the elders comnted.
"His fights were... spectacular," said another. "He easily defeated the Young Lord of Dark Spring and even fought face to face with Young Lord John, defeating him as well."
"He only had two fights?"
"Exactly. He only fought two fights."
"No one else challenged him? Did he buy off the contestants?"
"Heh, if he had bought them off, would Young Lord William be looking at him with respect?"
At that mont, William greeted Matthew respectfully. It was a simple cordiality between competitors, but William indirectly added a touch of reverence to it.
Matthew returned the greeting; it was simple and straightforward. This ti, he didn’t need any kind of introduction.
All the rumors surrounding him had already introduced him.
Kaiden’s frown grew deeper and deeper as the elders around him talked more and more.
But he wasn’t stupid. He was in public, he knew his behavior was important.
So he forced a smile.
"As expected of my old friend Lennon. Managing to invite such a talented young man is admirable," he said.
