558 Gods above Gods

Matthew suddenly looked up and frowned.

'The Dietrich Era... I guess I should say: The Age of Fighting for Supremacy is back, right? It looks like this ti I'll be the one leading the world by the hand.'

"Hahaha, without an infinite source of sothing, I suppose it will be really dangerous, Father. This will be the fight between a mortal against the Eternals."

Matthew looked down once more and smiled softly.

A mortal fighting an Eternal is not sothing worth seeing. The power of an Eternal cos from an Eternity.

From sothing infinite.

What is an Eternal?

That existence whose power is based on a power that reaches infinity.

Death, for example, is infinite, and if it were not for so existence whose power is also 'infinite,' there would be no way to reverse it; therefore, soone whose power is 'death' is an Eternal.

But there are several types of Eternals. One example is an existence whose existence is unknown even to Matthew but who is said to have controlled ti, which is also infinite.

And a closer example of this is Matthew Dietrich from 10 million years ago.

He had two sources of eternity: his ice and his immortality. Unfortunately, he no longer has either, so he can no longer be considered eternal.

Now, the power of a mortal is greatly limited.

The power of a mortal cos from... a specific region of ti. It cos from just a piece of what is eternal.

Even so, Matthew didn't care.

"I will win. This ti, I will trample them. I am Matthew Dietrich, the Heir of the Origin. Son of the Great Dietrich and bearer of the Origin. Co to , Eternals. Bring all your power and all your armies. Let show you what the... Origin ans."

A sly smile ford on his lips; perhaps this was just part of his plan. Or maybe he had gone mad. Maybe... He simply understood its power more than anyone else.

Sophia, who was next to him, frowned at his words.

"Matt?" Sohow, she didn't recognize him.

He looked different.

Can anyone change in such a short ti?

Although she was shocked to learn that this place had a secret that she couldn't understand or recognize, she could see the difference in him.

Matthew looked at her and raised his hand to caress her face.

"Good girl. The blood that runs through your veins will allow you to see greatness, but you are the only one who can truly understand what greatness is."

Matthew then picked up the earring and the ring. His part was over.

'Things are going to get complicated,' he sighed.

He looked towards the horizon and realized that what had happened in this place had attracted the attention of powerful people. He decided to leave, as he didn't want to get into trouble.

"We're leaving. It's ti for us to start moving. If we don't prepare, we'll die for sure."

Sophia didn't understand what he ant, and after taking one last look at the place, she followed him closely.

"Did sothing happen? Did you find out what you wanted?"

He nodded.

"I must say that my curiosity and impatience set a deadly trap for us, but sooner or later, it was going to hit us, so now we just have to prepare ourselves."

"What do you an?" She seed confused by his answer.

"The Eternals will start to move. They probably already sensed ."

"Eternals?"

Matthew smiled. It's normal that she doesn't know them.

It can be said that these beings are the secrets of the universe. If he ca to know them in the past, it is only because he is, in himself, a universal secret.

"Gods above Gods."

His words made Sophia stop dead in her tracks. Although she didn't understand the level of concept he was talking about, when soone ntioned beings that are 'Gods above Gods,' no one could imagine, even if only a glimpse, of the greatness being talked about.

Matthew, for his part, did not stop walking and soon turned around. "If you don't hurry up, you'll have to face the leaders of the devourers. They're coming this way."

Then, she ca to her senses and hurried to catch up with him.

She shot him assertive looks all the way, trying to figure sothing out, but Matthew's inexpressiveness ant she couldn't understand anything.

And he didn't explain too many things until, hours later, they were back in the courtyard where she lived.

Matthew was standing, looking at the horizon.

He felt that sothing was about to change.

Or had already changed...

He looked back. Sophia was calmly drinking tea.

She had long since understood that there was no point in worrying about silly things. If he had sothing for her, he was going to tell her. And if he had nothing, then he would simply leave.

So she just drank her tea and looked at him from behind.

When she noticed his gaze, she looked him in the eye.

But Matthew seed to be seeing sothing else.

'Her skills are good and indispensable for overcoming the power of an Eternal, but I'm afraid I would have problems even with that.'

He was looking at Sophia's abilities.

For a mont, he thought about taking them away, but in the end, he held back.

"Sophia, I hope that from today onwards, you can keep the words you said in front of the whole academic world."

Confused, she asked, "That my family would stand up to them?"

He nodded.

"The traitors are more powerful than you think. It's not just a small organization whose origin is a human church. It's who's behind them."

"Is it an Eternal?"

He smiled. "It's likely."

'Or several,' he thought after responding.

She shrugged.

"Sophia Murphy has never been afraid of anyone, Matthew Dietrich. I can still grow. I am still growing. I only know that I will die because of the blood that runs through my veins since it was that blood that gave this power."

Matthew scrutinized her for several seconds before agreeing with her bold answer.

"Good answer, Sophia Murphy. You can keep them for a while then."

He then turned and disappeared, leaving Sophia confused.

'Preserve them? Who? Tsk, this guy left as quickly as he arrived. How impatient.' She sighed.

Suddenly, quick footsteps ca from outside, attracting her attention.

The person who entered was an envoy from her Clan, who looked sweaty and extrely nervous.

"Lady, sothing terrible has happened!"

Sophia was stunned when she heard him and stared at him so he would speak.

He ca close to her ear and whispered sothing that made Sophia turn pale for a brief mont.

"Co on," she replied quickly, and they left shortly afterwards.
