552 Lilith's thoughts

If she was playing him, she should not have acted that way. Energy fluctuations always occur when soone tries to trick soone else. Even if it's minimal. And her eyes don't lie.

The eyes are the windows to the soul, and the soul is where all feelings, good or bad, are hidden. How could they lie? But, of course, it is possible to control all that.

Few things are impossible in this world, and even if they are highly improbable, they don't tend to beco impossible.

Still, if she were acting, Matthew would have to give her 20 Best Actress awards yearly because she could do it perfectly, even fooling him.

As he was thinking like this, he suddenly rembered sothing.

It was a talk with Gray Allen that he had so ti ago before attacking the City of Clans. Back then, he was talking about people who might have the ability to overco Vampire Limbo.

He ntioned Charlotte, Alice, Isla, and Matthew.

But there was one more person. A devourer.

Lilith.

A woman of absurd beauty. 'He also said that if anyone in this world could kill him, then it would be her.'

Was that the person in front of him?

Realizing this naturally made him think that she wasn't lying or joking with him.

Although he hasn't read much about Vampire Limbo, what little he has learned is that it is a section that surrounds the world. A ridiculous amount of dangers and mysteries are found there. Even the leaders of the Vampire Clans tend to die there. Therefore, if soone could pass it, it was amazing.

Besides, Dating, that ridiculously aweso ability, was rarely wrong in giving a verdict on soone.

Gray thought Alice could, but he still doubted about it and had to have his reasons supported by that ability.

But he didn't doubt Charlotte without knowing her true identity, nor did Isla. But of Lilith, he had greater words for her. It was not just admiration of beauty that he felt for her.

If Matthew thought about it a little, perhaps there was even so fear in it.

'If Dating made him feel that way, it ans this girl must be amazing.' As he made the ti back in the little conversation he'd had with her, he felt he could connect a few things.

'She could be a woman millions of years old. She talks about that past like she's been around but far away from it. Also, on several occasions, she puts herself first when it's an example of 'age', and she doesn't look like soone who is a liar. Does she put herself first when it cos to age because she considers that no one else in this world has lived as long as she has?'

He had a lot of questions, and although he wanted to get them out of his head, he couldn't find a way to do it.

He sighed and spoke; spending too much ti in silence would make her uncomfortable.

"Then you didn't eat because you have no desire to eat . It's the first ti I've t such a strange devourer. Everyone who sees always tries to eat or sothing; they crave my blood."

"Really?" She felt a little guilty about that. "Sorry, my race is a bit vulgar. We're not easily born; maybe because we co from the beasts, we're so vulgar." Sighing, she felt defeated.

"Well, every race has its vulgar quirks. Humans are treacherous by nature, devourers are vulgar because they want to eat everyone, while vampires are..."

Matthew didn't finish saying it because she interrupted him.

"Arrogant. Vampires are arrogant - very arrogant!" She exclaid angrily.

Matthew was about to say sothing else, but her words caught his attention.

"You think I'm arrogant?"

She glared back at him.

"Do you think I'm vulgar?" Instead of answering, she asked him a question that foolishly enveloped him.

He smiled and shook his head, for which she nodded.

"There are exceptions. You don't look like all vampires. You're different. Although..." She then looked back at an area that was destroyed by intense fighting.

"You don't seem to get along with my race. Maybe with them, you were arrogant, but for now, you seem to be an exception."

Not only were they very close, but he was also with a devourer at that.

She noticed his change, so she quickly held up her hands to tell him it was okay.

"No, don't worry about it. I don't bla you. In the end, our races are enemies, and I understand that my race can't see vampires because they want to eat them alive. Maybe you acted in self-defense, so I can't bla you."

"It seems there really are exceptions." Matthew said suddenly, startling her.

"Huh?" She retracted her hands a little, surprised by his answer.

"Haha, I was thinking about all the devourers I've faced. They always want to eat ; they're into sches where humans, traitorous vampires, and devourers want to destroy my race, so I always see them as beings to exterminate. But, as you say, there are exceptions in every race, aren't there? You seem to be the exception. You had the chance to eat ; if you had, I think you would have gained a lot, but you didn't, and it seems you don't plan to."

Though surprised, she sighed and nodded.

Suddenly, she hugged her legs as she sat and looked at the campfire.

"You know, it's been a long, long ti since I've been here. A voice in my head constantly tells that I have to eat Matthew Dietrich, but he doesn't exist anymore. Initially, I wanted to accomplish that mission at all costs, but he was gone. It wasn't possible to do it. Over the years, I realized it's ridiculous to follow a stupid voice, and I don't know whose voice it is."

"Watching my race grow up made realize that they better thrive, but it seems we were born to be the natural enemies of vampires."

"Actually, I lied to you; yes, I have tasted blood before. I didn't like it though. Blood tastes horrible. Vampire flesh tastes horrible. So I don't want it. I don't gain anything by eating those guys, but I gain a lot by eating a fish, so in the end, I resigned myself. I got bored. I started enjoying the food and the differences in life."
