Chapter 298 Allen: Alisceon Is My Little Sister
"Yes, your majesty the king. I have accepted Alisceon Gaia as my disciple. Therefore, I will assist her in winning the battle for the throne!"
Allen spoke with pride and elegance that was befitting of his status as the Supre Mage while still maintaining his respect for the king.
Well, even if he didn't respect the king and showed disrespect, the king wasn't narrow-minded enough to take it as an offense since offending the strongest mage wasn't what the king wanted to happen.
The king knew that if that happened, only the surrounding kingdoms would benefit from that scenario. So even if the kingdom managed to defeat and execute the Supre Mage, they would still suffer from the attack from other kingdoms due to their kingdom's military forces being weakened by the Supre Mage.
But Allen wasn't arrogant enough to disrespect soone he planned to use as a chess piece especially if it was a valuable chess piece. He knew when to be arrogant and when he should not.
He was a patient and farsighted person.
So what if he had to act respectfully to a weakling right now? He would have the last laugh after he thoroughly used the king for his plans.
And besides, showing respect to the king despite having a status that was slightly above a king would allow Allen to earn brownie points from the king.
Allen's choice of respecting the king was right as he noticed that the king's expression beca milder to him. If things went well, he would be able to earn the favor of the king.
And from what Allen had noticed, the king seed to be intent on recruiting him to his kingdom or at least making him, the Supre Mage, an ally to the Gaia Kingdom lest he joined another kingdom which wasn't ideal for the king.
After all, if the surrounding kingdoms managed to 'steal' the Supre Mage from the Gaia Kingdom, any of those kingdoms would beco stronger and would have more support from the Mage's Association, which would result in the Gaia Kingdom being in a disadvantageous position if a war ever occurred.
"Sigh, my daughter is fortunate to beco your disciple."
"How about it? Are you interested in marrying Alisceon?"
The king asked the Supre Mage while a serious expression remained on his face.
Allen could notice that the king wasn't joking when the king offered him Alisceon's hand in marriage.
When the king asked that question to Supre Mage, the ballroom beca silent as they were waiting for the response of the Supre Mage.
The royal princesses and daughters of the nobles were jealous of Alisceon.
They all wanted a powerful man to be their husband and without a doubt, the Supre Mage was the strongest mage in the world. Not to ntion, they noticed that aside from being the strongest mage, the Supre Mage's handso appearance far surpassed the princes and nobles that they had t.
They even thought of the Supre Mage as a perfect man since from what they had noticed, the Supre Mage had everything that they wanted from a husband.
So of the nobles cursed in their mind that the king had beaten them to it. The rest of the nobles cursed that they didn't have any daughters and only a son.
Alisceon was shocked at first but beca nervous as she didn't expect that her father would marry her to soone she thought of as an elder brother. On the other hand, Iris was silent as she already expected her lover's answer to the king's question.
Allen didn't mind the gazes of the rest of the nobles and royalties inside the ballroom as he beca the center of attention.
In response to the king's question, Allen created a teacup filled with tea as he slowly sipped the tea, creating suspense in the ballroom.
The king's eyebrows twitched at the Supre Mage's actions since even he didn't expect that the Supre Mage would drink tea to prolong in answering his question.
The king and the nobles tried to read the Supre Mage's expression but they couldn't see through his poker face. Allen was just too good at hiding his expressions and intentions as an expressionless facade adorned his face.
Allen didn't even need to use his magic to hide his expression and emotion. He was suprely talented in everything and that included hiding his expressions.
After drinking his tea which took a quarter of a minute, Allen destroyed the teacup using destruction magic as the teacup turned into dust. The dust then faded as the teacup was destroyed into nothingness.
As the Supre Mage, Allen could use any magic that was available as long as it required mana. Since he could use creation magic, it was a given that he could also use the opposite of creation which was destruction magic.
There was a reason why Allen did that.
First, it was to create suspense. Second, it was to display his abilities and to prove that his abilities as the Supre Mage were genuine. After all, creation magic and destruction magic were high-class magic that could only be used by those at Highest Realm Initial Stage and above.
Although weaker mages could use creation magic and destruction magic, it would also be a weaker version of it. And even if they use the original version, they wouldn't be able to use it as easily as how the mages at Highest Realm used it.
The majority of the people inside the ballroom didn't doubt Allen's prestige as the Supre Mage and that included the king. There were a few who didn't believe that Allen was the Supre Mage but after seeing Allen easily use creation and destruction magic as if Allen was breathing, their doubts about Allen's title as the Supre Mage were cleared.
They were all slightly shocked that Allen could easily use creation and destruction magic since even if they were convinced that he was the Supre Mage, knowing it and witnessing it were two different things.
The most shocked of them all was the royal court mage that sat beside the crown prince. After all, unlike the nobles, the royal court mage was knowledgeable when it ca to magic due to his status as a 7th Circle Mage.
The royal court mage knew how difficult it was to use creation and destruction magic. Even he couldn't use it as easily as how Allen showed it. And from what he knew, even the average 8th Circle Mage couldn't use creation and destruction magic with ease due to how difficult it was to comprehend and analyze them.
But after the initial shock, the royal court mage felt the fear surge in his heart as he thought of the possibility of him losing the support of the Mage's Association. After all, he had seen the prowess of the Supre Mage and he knew that he wasn't as powerful as the Supre Mage.
Because of that fear, he tried to think of a way to dispose of the Supre Mage by assassination but such a thought faded in his mind. He was still rational and he knew that as a mage who was always prepared, the Supre Mage wouldn't be careless enough to die from poison or assassins.
After all, that was the reason why the royal court mage was still alive today even after he experienced assassination and nurous attempts to kill him. Since he was only a 7th Circle Mage yet he survived all of that, it was impossible for the Supre Mage not to survive it as well.
With that realization in mind, the royal court mage decided not to think of anyways in dealing with the Supre Mage or anyone related to him lest he regretted it. He was soone who recognized his limits. After all, that was the main reason why he was still alive today.
After Allen destroyed the teacup, he stared at the king as he decided to answer the king's question.
"Surely, you jest? I have no interest in marrying Alisceon."
"Alisceon is my disciple. I treat her as my little sister. Nothing more, nothing less."
Allen straightforwardly rejected the marriage offer that the king had given to him.
Unlike most, Allen didn't use the reason of "I have a lover or wife" in rejecting a hand in marriage. After all, polygamy was not only legal but also common in this world, even in his ho world.
And for Allen, using such a response was tasteless in his opinion. After all, it was like saying that you have a lover but if you didn't, you would have married Alisceon. The difference was that it sounded as if the speaker was reluctant and not firm with his response.
Because of that, Allen used the "little sister" card instead. It was like saying that you love her, but only as a little sister, which was true in Allen's case.
When Alisceon heard of Allen's reply, he didn't know why but she felt disappointed even though she already expected it. But that feeling only lasted for a while as she was overjoyed that Allen thought of her as a little sister and not just a disciple.
