Ethan Lancaster reached out to hold the baby, but Raina Reddington gently placed her hand on his wrist. "Let ."

She walked over to Zion Lancaster’s side. Zion was desperate to see her daughter.

Raina placed the baby beside her. "Zion, you went through so much carrying this baby."

"Is she okay? Is everything alright with her?"

Ethan Lancaster watched Raina bend down, a faint smile playing on her lips. ’It seed that in her words, nothing was ever a big deal.’ "Before she t you, an angel kissed her hand."

After saying this, Raina lifted the infant’s left hand. Zion Lancaster saw that her daughter’s middle and ring fingers were joined together.

Afraid that Zion couldn’t handle it, Ethan Lancaster stood up and strode over.

"Zion, dicine is so advanced now. A simple surgery will fix it."

Zion’s nose tingled, and she felt the urge to cry. ’What mother would want to accept her child having a defect?’ But she still lifted her daughter’s hand and kissed it. "As long as she’s safe and sound, that’s all that matters. This is already wonderful, just wonderful."

’Compared to both of us dying, this is already the best possible outco.’

"Zion, the York family has always wanted a grandson, haven’t they?" Raina asked, gently stroking the baby girl’s small hand.

Tears welled up in Zion’s eyes again. "Yes. We had an ultrasound early on and knew it was a girl. At first, my mother-in-law tried to force to have an abortion, but I refused. Later, she said she’d found a folk redy that could reverse the baby’s gender. She put those herbs in the chicken soup and stewed them together..."

Ethan stood by, his expression growing more and more ferocious. "Then why didn’t you tell us?"

"Ethan, I couldn’t hide at our family’s ho forever. By the ti I realized she was putting sothing in my chicken soup, it was already too late. I couldn’t just get an abortion."

If Raina hadn’t stumbled upon her trying to give birth in secret, Ethan probably wouldn’t have even been able to see Zion one last ti.

Mrs. York was still shouting outside. Ethan walked to the entrance and yanked open the door to the operating room.

"Where’s my grandson? Where is my grandson?"

Ethan felt sick just hearing her speak. He signaled for Seth Sinclair to shut her up, then walked over to Jason York, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him into the operating room.

"Zion..." Seeing that both the mother and child were fine, Jason York tried to step forward. "That’s wonderful."

Ethan slamd a fist into his face. Zion jumped in fright. "Ethan, don’t—"

Raina quickly pressed down on her shoulders, signaling for her not to move. "Zion, he deserves it. Don’t forget, he abandoned you when you needed him most."

Zion’s heart turned to ice. Raina signaled for the nurses to wheel her out. Jason York was beaten black and blue, but Ethan still wasn’t satisfied.

With Seth Sinclair standing guard at the door, the rest of the York family couldn’t cause any trouble. Zion was quickly settled into a hospital room.

Mrs. York was thrown out of the hospital directly, and Jason York was tossed out half-dead.

No one paid any attention to Miranda Caron. Seth Sinclair saw her hugging her arms tightly, as if she were cold.

"Miss Caron, you should probably go ho. It’s not convenient for you to be here."

She shook her head, wiping her face frantically with her hands. "Seth, Ethan was terrifying. I’ve never seen him that angry."

"Of course. ssing with the Fourth Master’s family is the sa as hitting a fatal nerve."

Miranda couldn’t stop trembling. She got up and walked forward without a word until she reached Zion’s room. She didn’t go in, just sat down by the door.

Zion was on an IV drip. The anesthesia hadn’t worn off yet, and she was exhausted from the delivery, so she had just fallen asleep. The baby was sleeping soundly in the bassinet. Ethan sat in a chair, the back of his hands covered in bruises from the beating he’d delivered.

Raina used an iodine solution to clean his wounds. "Look at you. You managed to injure your own hand just from hitting soone."

Ethan glanced at his hand, his face full of disdain. "He didn’t land a single punch on ."

"If I were you, I would’ve used a club, or smashed a stool on him, or kicked him viciously. At the very least, I’d have scalded him with boiling water. In any case, I wouldn’t have done it like you."

Ethan hissed in pain. "Why didn’t you remind then? What’s the use of saying all that now?"

Raina applied more pressure, pressing the cotton swab hard against his wound.

The man flinched, pulling his hand back. "Is that sothing a doctor should be doing?"

"I’m a gynecologist. I really don’t know how to treat n."

’Ethan Lancaster knew Raina had been under just as much pressure as he had today. Since Zion was saved, there was nothing more to be said. But if sothing had happened to her, he couldn’t guarantee he’d have been calm enough not to hold Raina responsible.’

It was late at night when Jessica Jacobs arrived at the hospital.

She found Zion’s room and saw a figure sitting by the door. Miranda Caron scrambled to her feet. "M-Ma’am."

Jessica Jacobs gave her a cold look and ignored her, pushing open the hospital room door and walking inside.

Zion hadn’t woken up yet. Seeing how much her daughter had suffered, Jessica Jacobs was naturally heartbroken. Ethan could only explain the situation with the baby to her in a low voice. Although Jessica was pained by the news, she had no choice but to accept it.

She sat down on the sofa. After a long mont, she regained enough strength to speak, pointing toward the door. "That woman... what’s her deal?"

Ethan had completely forgotten about Miranda Caron. He only rembered when his mother brought her up. "I’ll send her ho."

"I can tolerate your usual foolishness, but how dare you bring that kind of person to a hospital? Don’t you know your sister just clawed her way back from death’s door?" Jessica Jacobs grew angrier as she spoke. "What does she think she is? Isn’t she afraid of dirtying the place?"

For once, Ethan didn’t talk back. Raina glanced at the still-sleeping Zion. "Mom, we still haven’t had dinner. We’re going to get sothing to eat, and we’ll bring so back for you."

Now that Jessica Jacobs knew about the surgery, her attitude toward Raina had done a complete 180. "Alright, you two go on. Don’t starve yourselves."

There was a separate lounge outside the hospital room. Raina closed the door and saw Ethan about to go out and send the other woman away. She quickly stepped forward to block him.

"I called you. I said it was a life-or-death ergency, but the person who answered thought I was calling to fight with her over you. She hung up on ." Raina’s expression was grim, her gaze sweeping coldly toward the door to the hallway. "Do you have any idea how much ti we lost because of what she did? Ethan Lancaster, a single minute can an a life. Your sister nearly died today!"

’After calming down, Ethan had originally planned to ask Raina why she hadn’t just found him directly. Before going into the eting, he had repeatedly told Miranda that if there was an ergency, she absolutely had to co in and tell him.’

The man’s expression gradually turned sinister. He pulled out his phone and checked his call history.

It had been completely deleted.

He pulled open the door and walked out. Seeing him erge, Miranda Caron hastily got to her feet.

"Ethan, is your sister okay now?"

Raina didn’t go out. Instead, she hugged a throw pillow and sat down on the sofa in the lounge. She heard the man’s voice, sharp and hurtful as a knife. "Get out. And don’t ever let see you again."
