Hannah Lynch glanced at the two of them, her expression turning colder by the second. "In that case, you both deserve to die."

"She has nothing to do with Miles Hawthorne..." Ethan Lancaster didn’t want Raina Reddington to get involved now.

"Who would believe that? Ethan Lancaster, do you?" Hannah Lynch’s eyes were red-rimd, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She even shot him a look of pity. "There’s sothing going on between them. Stop lying to yourself."

This was a wound Ethan Lancaster couldn’t bear to have touched. If he could, he would have thrown Hannah Lynch out. But she had a knife, and a head-on confrontation required brains, not just brawn.

"Bullshit. The only one he has ’sothing going on’ with is you."

"Hahaha—" Hannah Lynch found his self-deception hilarious. "Miles Hawthorne has even called out your wife’s na in his sleep."

"Then why didn’t you take a knife and stab him to death?" Ethan Lancaster’s words were a rush of anger and anxiety. Raina had been perfectly calm and composed before, but his arrival had made things worse. Ethan’s emotions were too easily provoked.

"Why would I stab him? I love him. If I’m going to stab soone, of course it’s going to be the person in his heart."

Seth Sinclair was at the door, about to enter, when Ethan Lancaster waved him off.

"Even if you stab Raina Reddington to death, Miles Hawthorne won’t love you."

Hannah Lynch’s palms were slick with sweat. Her fingers loosened for a mont before tightening their grip again. "Fine. Then none of us gets what we want. If I’m going to suffer, he’s going to suffer too!"

"Then co stab ," Ethan Lancaster said, trying to draw Hannah’s attention to himself. "What’s so scary about death? One quick stab, and it’s over. You want to make Raina suffer? Then stab . If anything happens to , just see if she doesn’t cry her eyes out."

Hannah Lynch let out a cold laugh. "You’re saying she loves you? That hurting you would be the sa as breaking her heart?"

"What else?"

Hannah Lynch took a step forward. "Ethan Lancaster, don’t try to provoke a madwoman. Seriously..."

’The fruit knife in her hand glead. If I’m lucky, I can grab her wrist and avoid bloodshed. But if my timing is off, I’ll have no choice but to grab the blade itself.’

Ethan Lancaster’s eyes were fixed on Hannah Lynch’s hand, terrified she would lunge at him at any mont.

"I don’t love him. Even if you killed him, I wouldn’t feel sad."

The defense he had just built ca CRASHING down. Ethan was now filled not only with anger but also an indescribable sense of humiliation. This scene was far more mortifying than any public confession and rejection.

Watching the color drain from Ethan Lancaster’s face, Hannah Lynch felt a sense of glee. "Hahaha, so there’s another fool just like . We’re all fools!"

Hospital security arrived at the door, but seeing the situation, they didn’t dare rush in. Soone had also called the police, who arrived shortly after.

"Don’t do anything rash! Put the knife down—"

"Quick, drop the knife—"

Hannah Lynch watched as several people entered. Coming here had been an impulsive act; her first thought was genuinely to take Raina Reddington down with her. But now she saw things clearly. It wasn’t worth it. If she used the knife now, not only would she fail to kill Raina, but she’d also be arrested.

Then Ethan Lancaster and Miles Hawthorne would do everything in their power to make her rot in jail, and she would truly have no chance left.

Once Hannah Lynch figured this out, the ferocity in her eyes instantly gave way to fragility. She began to cry on cue, tears streaming down her face. "Why are you all pushing to this? I have nothing now. My ho is gone, my child is gone... Are you going to take my life, too?"

Raina found this odd. Hannah Lynch was a weeping ss, and then she turned the knife on herself. "Raina Reddington, just let go. I admit, I can’t win against you."

"Put the knife down!" a young police officer said, taking a step forward.

"Don’t try to save . I really don’t want to live anymore..." Hannah Lynch thrust the knife toward her own wrist. The tip pierced her skin, and she collapsed to the floor.

Ethan Lancaster watched as the people behind him rushed forward, disard Hannah Lynch, and worked together to carry her out.

’That’s not a suicide attempt, it’s child’s play,’ he thought. ’She probably won’t even bleed that much.’

Hannah Lynch was carried to the doorway, where a crowd had once again ford, mostly consisting of patients waiting for appointnts.

She already looked ntally drained, and with her disheveled hair, she now appeared even more weak and helpless. "That Doctor Reddington interfered in my family! She caused to lose my child! My husband is so head over heels for her that he’s abandoned his own ho..."

Raina saw people pointing and whispering about her. This was truly worse than being stabbed. Seth Sinclair began shooing people away at the door. "What are you looking at? Get out of here."

"How can soone like that be a doctor?"

"She made soone lose their child... I’m here for a prenatal check-up. Who would dare see a doctor like her...?"

Seth Sinclair simply pulled the office door shut. Raina threw the window wide open. Ethan Lancaster stood rooted to the spot. "Is there so kind of sll in here?"

"Why are you here?"

"You have the nerve to ask that? You’ve ruined your reputation on your first day of work. Aren’t you afraid the hospital will fire you?"

Raina returned to her desk and pulled out her chair. "People will say what they want to say, and they’ll get sick when they get sick. Whether they want to see is their business. Since these are all things I can’t control, why should I worry about them?"

Her words left Ethan Lancaster speechless. This woman’s ntal fortitude was terrifying. In contrast, he felt like a superfluous third wheel here.

He shifted his feet, wanting to leave.

"Ethan Lancaster."

His gaze swept over to her. He saw Raina raise her head slightly, a cautious look on her face. "I want to go see Dad."

"You—"

She knew what the result of saying this would be. "I know I can’t be of any help."

For a fleeting mont, Ethan Lancaster’s heart softened. ’Maybe she really didn’t know anything about that incident. Just like when she took Annabelle Spencer’s cara to Aristor Hall, she was just a simple pawn.’ But then he rembered what Raina had said just monts ago—that she didn’t love him, that she wouldn’t be sad even if Hannah Lynch killed him.

On one side was her old fla; on the other, a man she didn’t love at all. Who would she favor? The answer was obvious.

"If you can’t be of any help, then what’s the use in you going?"

Seth Sinclair knocked lightly on the door twice. Ethan Lancaster was about to leave when he heard a few words exchanged outside. It sounded like Seth was trying to stop soone but failed. The office door was suddenly pushed open.

Miles Hawthorne rushed in, his face a mask of anxiety and a trace of panic. He didn’t even glance at Ethan Lancaster. His eyes swept over Raina Reddington, and only after confirming she was unhard did his expression finally relax.

Ethan Lancaster shot Raina a cold look, the corner of his mouth twisting into a sneer before he turned and walked out.

Miles Hawthorne had just gotten out today, with a mountain of troubles following him, yet he had rushed straight to the hospital. It seed he truly cared about Raina Reddington.
