Su Qing and Shen Yu showed great interest in Zhou Yuwen buying a house. Shen Yu believed it was too early for Zhou Yuwen, who was only in his first year of college, to think about buying a house. Moreover, she had seen the news, which said that the national real estate prices were not stable and had a downward trend.
However, Su Qing had a different opinion; she smiled and said to Shen Yu, "Don’t believe those expert predictions on the news. Yuwen is doing the right thing by buying a house now. The prices will only get higher in the future."
"But Yuwen," she added sarcastically, "you shouldn’t be talking about buying a small apartnt. Since you’re dating Yanyan, why not let her family chip in too? After all, you two will be living together. Get a bigger one, it’ll save you trouble later on."
Su Qing’s comnts were said in jest. When she married Yuwen in her previous life, she hadn’t contributed money herself. However, it wasn’t really her fault but instead the choice of Yuwen’s family, who felt that since her mother and she were alone, it was not necessary to spend her mother’s retirent money, especially when their own family could easily afford it.
Still, Su Qing’s point was to provoke Zheng Yanyan.
While Zheng Yanyan, on the other hand, was busy cooking tripe and couldn’t be bothered to argue with Su Qing.
As for Zhou Yuwen buying a house in Jinling, Zheng Yanyan kept silent. After all, she was a Capital city girl and her thoughts were different from those of Shen Yu and the others. Zheng Yanyan had never considered staying in Jinling; hence, she thought Yuwen was buying the house rather early, as she hadn’t planned on going to the Capital city with him.
Besides, the small apartnts wouldn’t really appeal to her taste.
Real estate in the Capital city was imnsely expensive, and locals seldom purchased properties. Most often, they would receive compensation housing following the demolition of old buildings. Zheng Yanyan’s ho was part of such a compensation deal in the 2000s—a multi-story walk-up apartnt of over 120 square ters, which was quite desirable then.
However, with the rapid developnt of the Capital city over the next decade, seeing all the new types of houses and various decors, Zheng Yanyan had started looking down on her own ho.
But for residents of the Capital city who already had a ho, it would be impossible to buy another piece of property, even if Zheng Yanyan’s family had so wealth.
Her family had prepared a dowry for her, planning to buy a smaller three-bedroom apartnt with her future husband’s family in the Capital city, which she would then decorate herself.
Zhou Yuwen’s family was in a pretty good financial situation. After seeing Yuwen buy a car, Zheng Yanyan truly considered getting serious with him and had even discussed this with her parents during the holiday break.
She said, "Mom and Dad, how about I bring you a son-in-law from another place?"
"Why bring soone from out of town? Those people are troubleso, which is why I told you not to study in Jinling," her father bluntly expressed his aversion.
Her mother, on a gentler note, said that local or not didn’t matter as much as finding soone with good family conditions.
"Your parents have worked hard to raise you; we couldn’t bear seeing you suffer out there."
Her parents were earnest, and as a considerate girl, Zheng Yanyan knew that marrying a poor boy from out of town wouldn’t just be bad for her own life, but it would also embarrass her parents among their relatives.
At that ti, Zheng Yanyan had thought that Yuwen’s conditions were acceptable, at the very least he was good enough to be brought back to the Capital city.
However, now that Yuwen had bought a house in Jinling, she felt conflicted. Would he return to the Capital city with her?
Throughout the al, Yanyan was sowhat preoccupied. When she and Lu Lin went to the restroom together, leaving their seats, Su Qing secretly said to Yuwen, "Yuwen, you buying a house seems to upset your girlfriend a bit."
Yuwen replied, "Yanyan is from the Capital city; it’s normal."
Su Qing pouted, "That’s why I say, you two aren’t suited for each other. She’s not going to settle for living in a small apartnt with you."
Yuwen asked, "Would you be willing to?"
"I wouldn’t either," she said.
Yuwen thought to himself then why ntion it at all, but Su Qing had more to say, "However, if you were with , we wouldn’t have to live in a small place; I can afford to get us a big house."
After hearing this, Yuwen and Shen Yu exchanged a knowing smile. He responded, "Then I’d be living off a woman."
"Just admit whether you’d like that or not?"
"Living off sobody doesn’t taste good."
Yuwen laughed briefly. After a short exchange between them, Zheng Yanyan returned with Lu Lin, looking disdainfully at Su Qing chatting with Yuwen and sneered, "What bad things are you saying about now?"
"I don’t dare. You made Yuwen delete from his contacts; what could I possibly say?" Su Qing responded.
Yanyan snorted, "Are we about done eating? If so, let’s leave. I’ve paid the check."
"?" Su Qing was taken aback, clearly not expecting this.
"Why look at with that expression? Is it so strange?"
"Didn’t you say Yuwen should pay?"
"Why should he pay? To make you call a gold digger?"
Yanyan was contemptuous; she liked to pester Yuwen for gifts and als, but in her eyes, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. Although they hadn’t gotten intimate, Yuwen had touched and kissed her, so what’s the harm in wanting so gifts?
However, Su Qing just had to stick her nose in.
It irritated Yanyan to spend four hundred yuan on a al, equivalent to the loss of a piece of clothing.
Yanyan pulled Yuwen to his feet, and defiantly told Su Qing, "I just want you to know that Yuwen and I are still very close, so don’t bother trying to break us apart."
