Waiting for Zhou Yuwen to co pick her up.

It was a quarter past nine when Zhou Yuwen finally called.

Lu Lin saw Zhou Yuwen’s car from the balcony and answered, "I’ll co down right away."

Then she took almost two minutes before she hurried downstairs.

Today was the sixth day of the holiday, and with the school already practically empty, the dormitory entrance was even more deserted at this early hour.

Zhou Yuwen had just parked the car when he saw Lu Lin coming out of the dorm.

Lu Lin was dressed in her usual outfit, a pair of black slightly flared jeans paired with white sneakers. Lu Lin’s legs and Zheng Yanyan’s were of comparable length, but Zhou Yuwen actually preferred seeing Lu Lin in these jeans, which were not only long but also good-looking. Her top was a coffee-colored knitted cardigan.

This ensemble mainly highlighted her long legs and slender waist. After coming out of the dormitory building, Lu Lin naturally opened the passenger door and sat inside.

Zhou Yuwen asked, "Aren’t you afraid your sister Yanyan will give you a lashing with her big mouth?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Lin said, "Should I sit in the back then?"

"No need for that," Zhou Yuwen started the car.

Soon, the car left the girls’ dormitory area and Lu Lin asked Zhou Yuwen what made him think of her.

"Like you said, I’m bored and have no one to accompany ."

"I’ve been saying that for days, and now you co to find ," Lu Lin said with a touch of lancholy in her heart.

Zhou Yuwen replied, "Perhaps I had company the previous days."

"Oh."

At tis, Zhou Yuwen was not good at cajoling girls; following this exchange, whether or not Lu Lin liked Zhou Yuwen, she seed quite unhappy.

After a while, Lu Lin continued to ask, "What do you need for?"

"Going to buy furniture today, I’m too lazy to shop alone."

"Buy furniture?"

"Yeah."

The previous owner had already handed over the keys to Zhou Yuwen, and he had moved in, but aside from a bed, there was nothing else in the apartnt.

Perhaps that’s why Zhou Yuwen felt so empty; such a large house yet so barren, how could he not feel empty?

Buying furniture was sothing Zhou Yuwen was too lazy to do alone, so he took Lu Lin with him.

Lu Lin realized that she had been brought along as free labor.

Zhou Yuwen said, "Your help won’t be in vain."

"It’s not like I’m treating you to a al."

"What you’re doing doesn’t count as treating, it’s a fair trade," Lu Lin told Zhou Yuwen.

Zhou Yuwen laughed, "Everything can be tied to a trade, huh?"

"Well, our last trade isn’t even over yet," Lu Lin said.

Zhou Yuwen did not respond. At that mont, the car had driven out of the school grounds and stopped at a traffic light. Lu Lin’s slim legs, wrapped up in black flared jeans, were put together, slightly leaning towards Zhou Yuwen’s side.

They indeed looked good.

However, Zhou Yuwen was absorbed in his phone during the red light and only started the car when the light turned green, not sparing Lu Lin a single glance throughout the journey.

For Lu Lin, this was her first ti riding in a convertible sports car’s passenger seat. Although she was typically reserved and seed more mature than other girls her age, she was still after all an eighteen-year-old girl, and a girl of that age tends to harbor a bit of vanity in her heart.

Ultimately, she couldn’t resist and secretly activated her cara to snap a few pictures of herself seated in the passenger seat.

Zhou Yuwen noticed and said with a smile, "What can you capture with that? Wait a bit, and when you sit in the driver’s seat, I’ll take a picture for you."

Just as Zhou Yuwen finished speaking, Lu Lin put away her phone, saying it wasn’t necessary.

So, the two went to the furniture mall. Zhou Yuwen didn’t have high demands for furniture, seeking simplicity and cleanliness, disliking anything too flashy. Therefore, he purchased only so essential appliances and a sofa, keeping everything else as straightforward as possible.

Bringing Lu Lin along was to ask for her opinion: "What do you think one needs when moving to a new place?"

"What’s needed? A bed, cups, towels, a toothbrush?" Lu Lin mused.

Zhou Yuwen thought, yes, these are indeed necessary.

In the morning they browsed the furniture mall; in the afternoon, they went to a store similar to Muji to pick up so daily necessities, like toothbrushes and toothpaste.

It was then that Lu Lin realized Zhou Yuwen truly hadn’t bought anything, and she asked him what kind of moving that was.

Zhou Yuwen said that was why he called her over.

"When Yanyan cos back, couldn’t you just take her shopping?" Lu Lin suggested.

"It’s better to set everything up beforehand and give her a surprise when she returns."

Lu Lin fell silent. Although they hadn’t talked about it on the way, when Zhou Yuwen ntioned moving, Lu Lin knew that he planned to take Zheng Yanyan out to cohabit, probably renting a small apartnt outside.

With this thought, Lu Lin helped Zhou Yuwen pick out household items, suggesting, "We should also buy a couple of sets of pajamas. One set for you and one for Yanyan."

There were two pure cotton pajamas hanging in the store: one in gem blue and the other in soft pink.

Zhou Yuwen agreed.

So they bought two sets of pajamas.

Lu Lin said, "Even if you’ve rented a place,

She’s not likely to agree to move out with you right now."

"Actually, I’m not in a hurry about her situation; mainly, I want to move out and live on my own," Zhou Yuwen chatted casually with Lu Lin as they strolled through the mall.

Lu Lin asked Zhou Yuwen what made him think of living on his own.

Zhou Yuwen said he wasn’t used to living with others.

"It’s nice to be rich," Lu Lin comnted.

Zhou Yuwen chuckled, "It has nothing to do with money."

Lu Lin was unimpressed by that response, but the display of wealth Zhou Yuwen exhibited did make her want to rely on him a bit. She said, "Zheng Yanyan won’t give in to you so easily." Continue reading stories on empire
