Chapter 1311: Chapter 571: Everyone’s Fate Is Different

A few prominent figures in the Landscape Architecture class, Zhou Yuwen was entirely beyond their understanding. He couldn’t even be counted as one of them. In their chats, they automatically excluded Zhou Yuwen, leaving only Zhao Yang, Chang Hao, and Li Qiang.

Zhao Yang was a local in Jinling, with a bit of money in his family. Throughout three years of university, he never lacked a girlfriend. He was quite low-key in his freshman year, but by sophomore year, he often brought girls to stay over at the house his family owned. Now, as he was about to intern, his family had already arranged a job for him.

As for Chang Hao, his prominence needs no explanation. From the military training in freshman year, he was always boasting about being Zheng Yanyan’s boyfriend, until later when Zheng Yanyan’s reputation soared and she started dating Zhou Yuwen.

Chang Hao was often laughed at behind his back, and so even jokingly called him the “simp” for Zhou Yuwen’s girlfriend.

However, after going through so much, Chang Hao indeed matured a great deal. In his junior year, he tried dating a girl. She was quite pretty, sowhat resembling Zheng Yanyan by thirty percent. But before a relationship was confird, Chang Hao ended up telling the girl sorry, as she wasn’t Zheng Yanyan after all.

Chang Hao also couldn’t figure out whether he still had feelings for Zheng Yanyan or what.

He didn’t know since which night he suddenly felt that dating girls was a dull task.

Or perhaps, he lost interest in all girls.

He felt being alone was pretty good.

Playing gas alone, listening to music alone.

And then, in the dead of night, alone he leaned against the balcony corner, silently lighting a cigarette.

He really liked this feeling.

Over the past three years, from class monitor to participating in the student council, even though he didn’t hold any official position, he felt fulfilled. In dealing with others, he always pondered how Zhou Yuwen would handle things.

He was no longer the flamboyant one seeking attention.

During the sumr vacation, his father introduced Chang Hao to a forr classmate. Chang Hao barely said a few words during the whole eting but appeared very composed, which impressed his father’s classmate a lot. He gave his word to Chang Hao’s father, saying the young man was good and had a steady personality.

“No need to worry about a job, with our many years of relations, even if others can’t, you certainly can.”

And so, Chang Hao entered a state-owned enterprise. Even before he formally started working, his permanent position was secured. All insurances were handled on his first day, and the intern benefits and allowances totaled around six thousand, with a confird salary exceeding ten thousand, at a major northern energy company.

Now, a few old classmates, gathering for the last ti around the dining table, many teased Chang Hao about the company na.

Chang Hao ntioned a na.

The crowd erupted in amazent.

Li Qiang laughed aloud, “Wow, Brother Hao, you studied landscape architecture, how did you end up in an energy company?”

Chang Hao smiled and said nothing, while soone imdiately followed Li Qiang’s words: “What’s wrong with joining an energy company? Much more successful than us working manual jobs. Ah, Brother Hao, I really envy you. We looked for jobs for so long and finally got into Golden Mantis, and they started with ‘Do you accept working abroad?’ In the future, we’ll be nothing but bent over farrs, nowhere near your level!”

Hearing the complaints around him, Chang Hao just chuckled softly. He said, “It’s really nothing, just leaning on family connections. Not as comndable as you guys who genuinely found jobs on your own.”

“Alas! We want to rely on family but can’t!”

The crowd sighed, and soone asked, “Brother Qiang, where are you going?”

Li Qiang, a standout figure in the Landscape Architecture class, not least because he once dated a girlfriend seven years older than him and was the Minister of External Relations, was sowhat noteworthy.

Conversations around the dinner table invariably turned to him.

As everyone turned towards him, Li Qiang puffed on his cigarette, casually saying, “Ugh! I’m torn, several wedding companies are vying for , offering a salary of ten thousand for to lead a team on my own, but I haven’t agreed!”

“Wow! Ten thousand! That’s a lot, Brother Qiang?”

“My intern salary is only 1800! Brother Qiang, need any help, take along!”

In an instant, everyone sward over, so even starting to light Li Qiang’s cigarette for him.

But Li Qiang, with an indifferent look, disdainfully said, “Ten thousand is nothing, let tell you, you all know Zhao Jun who runs that labor service, right? He offered a salary of fifteen thousand to poach ! But I just didn’t go!”

“Why not?”

The crowd was puzzled.

And Li Qiang, with a bit of swagger, declared, “Working for others can’t compare to being your own boss! I want to start a business!”

“Wow! Brother Qiang, you’re aweso!”

Everyone looked on with more admiration, and Li Qiang indulged even further, talking about the larger environnt and his current situation.

Everyone was there intently listening to what Li Qiang was saying.

Because compared to others, Li Qiang’s words indeed struck more of a chord and felt refreshingly candid.

Li Qiang drank a couple more glasses, and the atmosphere at the table beca lively.

Zhao Yang, quietly observing from the side, felt rather disdainful.

From freshman year, he hadn’t thought much of Li Qiang, and still didn’t. Those salaries he ntioned, likely only there to deceive these naïve youngsters, no matter how high, it was still just a grind.

He noticed Chang Hao, equally quiet at the side, thought for a mont, then went over and offered him a cigarette.

Chang Hao was sowhat surprised.

Zhao Yang said, “Want to step out for a breath of fresh air?”
