The class assignnt exam at 9:30, Zheng Yanyan arrived only at 9:40 and, because she got up late, she didn’t even have ti to wash up. She just threw on so denim shorts, the black tank top she had slept in, and after getting up, slipped on an undershirt before putting her coat back on.
When the teacher asked her why she was late, she clutched her stomach and said she had gotten food poisoning the night before and had diarrhea.
The teacher sighed, "Go in."
When Zheng Yanyan began the exam, people were already turning in their papers. First ca Su Qing, followed by Shen Yu and Lu Lin, one after another.
Lu Lin was the last to exit, and as she ca out, Shen Yu told her that the art supplies the counselor had ordered had arrived and were now in the office. Just before, the counselor called Su Qing to have us take an inventory of the art supplies and then distribute them in the afternoon.
Lu Lin gave an acknowledging grunt and after glancing at Zheng Yanyan still writing her paper in the classroom, said, "Should we wait for Yanyan?"
"Here’s what we’ll do, you send her a ssage saying, after her exam, to go straight to classroom 203 to wait for the class eting, we’re not intentionally not waiting for her," said Su Qing.
It’s true—starting the class eting right after the class assignnt exam is a bit rushed, but it is, after all, the last day of September. Finishing the class eting early ans granting an early half-day off, which allows out-of-town students to head back earlier.
As design students, like Su Qing and her peers, indeed need to purchase so drawing materials, and usually, the class leaders are responsible for this. Su Qing, as a class leader, had already taken care of everything well in advance.
Both Shen Yu and Su Qing were urging Lu Lin to join them at the office, with Shen Yu saying, "There’s so much stuff, Su Qing and I can’t carry it all by ourselves. You need to co help us."
"It was her own fault for coming back late last night. She has no one to bla but herself," Shen Yu said with a hint of resentnt in her tone.
In the end, Lu Lin still went to the office with Su Qing and Shen Yu.
Zheng Yanyan was thinking of giving her roommates a good scolding for what they’d done—what did they an by not calling her when they left in the morning?
Finally, when she finished the exam and ca out, there was not a soul to be seen outside the class.
Well, there were people, just that Zheng Yanyan didn’t know any of them.
"That’s it, I couldn’t understand the last two reading comprehensions at all."
"Ugh, neither, I’m going to fail this placent exam!"
Other dormitories would always wait, no matter how long, to leave together.
Only Zheng Yanyan was left all alone.
"Oh? Yanyan, did Su Qing and the others leave first?" As fellow classmates, they would at least ask.
"Oh,"
Even from here, Zheng Yanyan, even if a bit oblivious, could sense that the three girls were obviously isolating her, even though Lu Lin had sent a ssage about going to the office to inventory the art materials.
But Zheng Yanyan knew they were just displeased with her dating Zhou Yuwen.
Hmph, just because I got together with Yuwen, how petty.
They don’t consider a friend?
I don’t want to be friends with them either.
After all, I have a boyfriend.
Thinking nonchalantly, Zheng Yanyan then called Zhou Yuwen to ask where he was.
Zhou Yuwen had been out of the exam room for a while and said he was outside.
"Outside, what are you doing out there?" Zheng Yanyan’s voice softened, feeling ostracized by her roommates, she truly had no friends now and could only rely on her boyfriend.
Zhou Yuwen said he was taking care of so things.
Zheng Yanyan just humd, feeling sowhat downcast.
Zhou Yuwen asked her what was wrong.
She said, "Su Qing and the others decided to ostracize ."
Zheng Yanyan recounted everything that happened that morning, and after Zhou Yuwen listened, he didn’t notice anything amiss. After all, being thirty years old, even if he did notice sothing off, he wouldn’t be able to say much. He said, "It can’t be that bad, didn’t Lu Lin tell you they went to the office? You’re overthinking it."
"How can I not overthink it? They didn’t wake up when they left this morning, and I was the first to get up and told them we’d be late—they did it on purpose," Zheng Yanyan retorted.
Zhou Yuwen, who was already aboard a bus, said, "In that case, Brother Hao and the others have ostracized too."
"What? You’ve been ostracized as well?"
"Of course, think about it, Chang Hao likes you a lot. I’m with you now; how could he not ostracize ?"
Upon hearing this, Zheng Yanyan burst into laughter and instantly felt a deeper connection with Zhou Yuwen, sighing and saying, "Sigh, we really are a couple of star-crossed lovers."
"Yeah, see how much I’ve sacrificed to be with you."
"Pssh, as if I haven’t made big sacrifices as well."
"So, shall we break up then?"
"No way, we need to stick it out together. We have to make everyone jealous. Where are you off to so early in the morning?"
"I told you, I’ve got so things to take care of."
"What things?"
"It’s a secret."
"So I should keep secrets too, right?"
"..."
Zhou Yuwen fell silent and didn’t speak.
Zheng Yanyan, feeling that they had just confird their relationship and indeed needed so space, said, "Never mind, I won’t ask anymore. Are you coming back at noon? Keep company for lunch."
Zhou Yuwen hadn’t planned to return at noon, not even interested in attending the class eting.
In fact, Zhou Yuwen didn’t have much business to deal with after leaving; it was the last workday of the month, and he had to withdraw the money from his stocks. The initial investnt was fifty thousand, with added margin financing from a firm; after deducting fees and including the original capital, Zhou Yuwen now had a total of two and a half million in hand.
With this amount of money, Zhou Yuwen could live comfortably for quite a while.
