Alex, when he ca to get Alice from the Phoenix's chamber, used stealthy techniques, but this ti it was different.
This ti Alex teleported right into this room, letting the people who were keeping an eye on Emberlyn's chamber notice the changes.
Emberlyn was a very important figure for the people of the Phoenixia Empire. She was the original phoenix, their ancestor, and the only one who could make things better for the Phoenixia Empire.
So, last ti, when her descendants beca aware of the fact that the demon lord had visited their unprotected ancestor, they grew tense.
The imperial family of the Phoenixia Empire wore grim expressions on their faces for a while, unable to wave off the thought of what would've happened if their last hope were to be killed by the demon lord.
They knew that their ancestor was weak at that mont, so much so that even a person with a power level lower than EX rank could kill her, much less the demon lord, whose power wasn't known to the people of the demon empire itself.
He was called the unpredictable emperor, soone who does things on a whim. No one could guess what he would do.
Such a person being close to their only hope was in no way sothing they would want, so the security of the secret chamber, although seed more lax than before as there were no guards standing at the door, was better than before.
There were the top powerhouses of the Phoenixia Empire situated close to the chamber, keeping an eye on the room in shifts.
The mont they sensed sothing amiss, they were supposed to inform the others and all of them would co rushing to Emberlyn's rescue.
This was sothing even Emberlyn wasn't aware of.
That was why, the mont an interference with mana was sensed, the powerhouses of the Empire grew tense.
Up until this date, there had been only one person other than them who had ever entered the chamber of their ancestor, so they didn't even have to think hard about who it would be.
'The demon lord!'
The signal was sent, and within a second, three figures broke into the chamber, directly moving in for an attack, not even caring about the person who was standing with the demon lord.
They didn't want to give up on the surprise elent, and they wanted to finish the battle with just one attack, which was precisely why they were using their strongest skills from the get-go.
"STOP!!!"
Emberlyn, on the other hand, was shocked beyond belief.
What the hell were these stupid descendants of her trying to do?! Trying to get themselves killed or what?!
She herself didn't know Alex's actual power limit, but she knew that all three people who were trying to attack him were no match for him.
It was just her gut telling her that.
"Agni! Pura! Griva! Stop!!"
They were Agni, Pura, and Griva, the sa trio who tried to catch Alex the last ti he ca to their empire.
They were the strongest the Phoenix Empire could offer, after all. Three legendary 3-rankers. The only one capable of protecting this empire from the dangers of the world.
There was the empress as well, but she rarely ca out of her chamber as she kept cultivating to grow stronger. No one knows how powerful she currently is, but so people say that she is a legendary 3-ranker as well.
Right now, however, only three people were headed for Alex, with their mana charged into their strongest attack. An attack so strong that it could obliterate the whole chamber and maybe the castle itself, as three legendary 3-rankers were using their powers to the fullest.
They didn't care though; if they could eliminate the demon lord, soone with the power to put the whole world at risk, then sacrificing their castle was worth it.
"Stop it!"
In just a matter of microseconds, they had heard their ancestor yelling at them to stop, but they didn't listen to her. She didn't seem to have trust in their abilities, and they were going to show her how strong they were so that the next ti she would trust them without worry.
As for Emberlyn, well, she could see everything; she could perceive everything, and her actions were fast as well. As long as she was within the container, she was at her peak speed, but the problem was that she couldn't attack from that container, nor could she move around a lot.
All she could do was watch as all three of them aid their attacks at Alex.
Their bodies slowly turned into fiery birds, burning the air itself, causing the room's temperature to spike in an instant. The walls started to break down, but Agni, Pura, and Griva didn't stop.
Their feathers started to break down, and their bodies turned into a shooting cot, zooming toward Alex at a speed enough to break the sound barrier multiple tis.
The distance between Alex and the three of them wasn't much, just around 10 ters, and to cover that small distance, it would take them less than a second to reach Alex, and all of this happened in that period.
But just then...
"Heh, using fire-related abilities against him, huh? How nostalgic..."
Alice's voice was heard as her eyes were locked on the three legendary 3-rankers, causing their eyes to widen to the extre.
'Who is she?! How can she see us?!'
They never even bothered looking at Alice before, but now they had their focus on Alice, and in just an instant, their approach changed. Now, two of them were going for Alex, and the last one was going for Alice.
This turn of events caused even Emberlyn to grow shocked, and the next second her fla flicked violently as she noticed Alice's power level.
'M-Mythical 1?!'
What the hell?!
Wasn't this the sa girl who was a legendary ranker a while ago?? How did she reach Mythical rank so fast?!?!
But before she could think too deeply about it, Alex made his move.
His hand moved, raising up in front of his face before...
*Snap*
A snap was heard, echoing through the room, and everyone in the area felt a strange sensation pass over them, sending shivers down their spines.
It was Alex's zone, and the second he used it, they were all within his zone, having lost control over their power, and with a simple wave of his hand...
*Woosh*
Agni, Pura, and Griva found their flas extinguished, left with nothing but their bodies lying on the ground, with dumbfounded looks on their faces.
'Huh?'
'Wut..?'
'??'
They didn't even understand what had happened. They just kept lying on the ground, staring at their feathers, which used to be bright with flas; now not even a small whisk of fire could be seen on them.
'N-no way...'
Only Emberlyn was able to understand what had happened, as her whole body was afla right now, and she better than anyone could understand what Alex was doing.
'H-He is controlling every source of fire in the area...' Discover more content at empire
A realization that brought her nothing but terror. Soone who could control any kind of fire—wasn't he simply the nesis of the Phoenix Empire?
Wouldn't he be able to wipe the whole empire of his own if he wanted to?
'N-Now that they attacked him... is he going to kill them...?'
This thought flashed in her mind as she saw Alex staring at Agni, Pura, and Griva with a cryptic look on his face.
If he were to decide to kill them, could she even do sothing? Was that all she could do right now—watch as her descendants die? Or should she interfere even if it ant that she would be risking the entire empire's annihilation by doing that?
" forgiving them would be my first step in this new partnership of ours..."
It was then that Alex spoke, his gaze moving toward Emberlyn, who could feel her body, which was literally made of fla, trembling in fervor; it was as if her own body didn't want to listen to her.
"But there won't be a second ti, so I suggest you ta your descendants better from now on."
Before Emberlyn could even reply to his words, Alex added with a serious tone. No one in the Phoenixia Empire could actually harm him, as he really was their nesis, but that didn't an he would let them walk over him without any consequence.
"Y-Yes... yes, it won't happen again."
Emberlyn's voice, hesitant and a bit terrified, was heard right after that, and Alex nodded his head, smiling a bit as the tension in the air dissipated almost instantly.
Alex's ability, however, was still activated. He didn't want to see the sa trope where the subordinates wanted to rush to save their leader even if they had to sacrifice their lives happening here.
Killing was the last thing he wanted to do right now, as it would just turn things worse.
"Alright then, let's sign the contract."
With that, a bright light flashed and a golden-colored scroll appeared in front of Emberlyn for her to read it, and all Agni, Pura, and Griva could do was stay lying on the ground without making a voice.
And with that, the contract was ford, marking another one of Alex's quests as completed.
