Aurelian smirked as he swiped his illusory spectral blade across the fur of a dire wolf, watching it collapse lifelessly to the ground. Its soul wisp rged with his blade, causing it to glimr softly.

"Great!" he breathed, feeling so of the energy trickle back into him, enhancing his already clear mind as a soothing calmness washed over him.

His obsidian eyes flickered with satisfaction as he cast his gaze on the blade in his arm, nodding in approval. Why hadn’t he unlocked this function earlier? he mused excitedly, his figure already darting toward another dire wolf retreating in the distance.

His arm trailed over the shaft of the blade before driving it through the beast’s rear, and without waiting for the result he moved on—his mind consud by the bloodbath, relishing his first true weapon.

What could only be described as a massacre unfolded: a youth wielding a giant demonic sword emitting corrosive wisps of energy, swiping it through every beast he encountered before flickering to another target. In his wake, horrific scenes remained, wolves collapsing one by one, their souls coalescing into wisps that were absorbed by the blade, with so of the energy channeled back into the youth.

Before long, another slew of corpses lay strewn behind him, his proficiency growing with each strike. Crude slashes evolved into clean, precise cuts, carving through their fras.

"Finally realized running is pointless?" he breathed, watching the dire wolves suddenly halt. Their golden eyes glared back at him, snarling sounds echoing from their throats, though before he could get smug about it, multiple howls rose in the distance.

Golden orbs glead faintly. Out of the shadows erged another pack, all dire wolves, their fras rippling at five ters, black fur streaking their surfaces.

"A trap?" Aurelian muttered, eyeing the approaching beasts as they encircled him. Hadn’t they learned anything from just minutes ago? Whatever. He exhaled, eyeing the cunning bastards. They’d saved him the trouble of hunting them down.

With a flick of his wrist, the massive blade in his hands hovered freely, suspended in the air before buzzing softly. Spectral energy radiated in waves, its pressure reducing, the corrosive aura lessening significantly. The wolves inched closer, wary yet emboldened by the weaker presence.

Crouching low, blocking all escape routes, they lunged with a sudden feral light burning in their eyes, their maws open, claws unsheathed, swiping in unison.

Smiling at their tactics, Aurelian willed his blades apart, streaking them toward the wolves.

"Now!" he growled, jerking his head to the side to evade a wolf’s snapping jaws that nearly crushed his skull. He grabbed its forelegs, heaving the beast into the air before slamming it face-first into the ground, crushing its jaw.

Another wolf rushed at him, lunging for his torso. He countered with a crushing strike to its neck, tearing through cleanly. The battlefield descended into chaos: a lone man trampling massive wolves beneath his fists as spectral blades tore through any unlucky beast in their path.

The ambush quickly flipped into a one-man massacre.

Notifications flared across his vision, but he ignored them, focusing wholly on the fight as the number of foes dwindled. Small wounds dotted his body, but they healed instantly, the vitality of slain wolves flowing through him alongside their soul power. He drove his fist into the skull of another immobilized wolf, raining punches until its thick hide gave way. Its skull cracked open under his rciless barrage. His blood-drenched figure leapt onto the next foe.

Seconds blurred into minutes before the carnage ended. All the dire wolves lay dead, most appearing unblemished in death, others mangled beyond recognition. Before their bodies could dissipate into wisps of energy, Aurelian raised his blade.

"Vortex of Doom!" he roared.

The spinning blades created a black hole that sucked in the corpses, devouring them entirely.

His gaze shifted to his supre records as notifications flickered across his vision.

(Level 19: 10,000 / 10,000 dungeon points!)

(Level 20: 15,000 / 15,000 dungeon points!)

(Level 21: 500/20,000 dungeon points)

Filtering through the flood of kill notifications, he smiled at the two prompts signaling his growth, though a frown lined his face at the ager points these wolves yielded.

When he’d slain that Goblin Chieftain, he’d gained far more dungeon points than now. Was it due to a higher kill-level bonus, or sothing else he was missing?

His appraisal skill would’ve helped, but it did jack shit besides showing nas and levels, and even that poorly.

He needed more insight. This pace of growth felt far too slow for his liking, though for anyone else, his teoric rise would be terrifying.

As the thought weighed on him, he plopped down to recover so energy, shutting his eyes to rest before the final battle.

Another notification blinked before him, a smile tugging at his lips. He’d already decided where to allocate the energy. It was ti to get so questions answered.

"Allocate to the appraisal skill..."

His words barely left his lips when the hair on his arms stood on end. His danger sense erupted. Without hesitation, he sprang up, scaling back several ters.

Boom!

The ground where he once sat caved in, fractures spreading outward.

From the crater, a monstrous eight-ter beast erged. Aurelian’s eyes widened, fascination flickering within them. A wolf with pitch-black fur glared back at him, its body encased in slick crystals forming natural armor across its four limbs, rough shards jutting from its back, calling for a nacing sight.

"An Armored Alpha Quadrupedal Wolf?" he breathed, eyes glittering with excitent. His weariness vanishing instantly. "Finally, a worthy opponent. Sothing to make the battle a bit more...interesting."

The spectral blades materialized behind him once more.

As if in silent agreent, both wolf .and man launched forward, their figures vanishing in a blink, their clash imminent.
