Alex looked at Mikhail with confusion written all over his face.
It was evident why he was so bewildered – he'd been brought up his whole life believing that Divine was just a classification, but here he was hearing that it was also a rank as well, one at the top echelon of the universe at that.
He couldn't even imagine what kind of strength a person at that level of power possesses.
And he wouldn't have to wait long for an explanation either.
"Divine Rank is where the true extre levels of power begin to showcase themselves. As for the requirents to reach this rank, they need to have reached Divine Class and combine both their class and rank into one, becoming a Divine rank being. The power they wield is imnse, capable of affecting whole clusters of hundreds of galaxies at once with their power. For most of the universe, this is the highest level of power attainable. Nobody is able to push further beyond, for one simple reason."
Mikhail paused, allowing Alex to digest this new and unbelievable information.
Here he was, just a asly B tier, hearing about all these unfathomable levels of power like it was just another tuesday.
"... And that reason is because the System doesn't allow them to." Mikhail revealed.
Alex wasn't surprised. He could see this answer coming from a mile away.
"There is one level beyond Divine rank, and this is the level of power I and the other few managed to reach before the System could detect and stop us. It doesn't have an official na designated by the System, but the na 'Universal God' suits it quite well."
Alex was gobsmacked.
This information was just too unbelievable for his small worldview.
Almost as unbelievable as the fact that he was standing there, talking to one such Universal God right now.
"Universal Gods are few and far between. In fact, I doubt that any other exist other than and those few who were forced under the System's control. The System doesn't allow anyone to reach a level of power past this point, as our strength affords us so level of power to fight back against the System, if we so choose to."
Of course, it didn't need to be said that it didn't matter whether a Universal God made it clear that they had no intention to go against the System.
Just the simple fact that they could, was enough for the System to act against them.
This was just how cruel the universe was. Even at the top, it was kill or be killed. The strong feed on the weak.
And unfortunately for them, the System couldn't give a damn about their emotions or promises.
They threatened it, so it simply thwarted that threat before it could fully realise itself.
Simple as.
Except for the fact that it wasn't able to root out all of the threats. Mikhail was living proof of such.
"But, how can soone of your power grow old then? Surely at your level the concept of aging has long passed!?" Alex asked, now completely confused about Mikhail's current, fragile state.
He looked, and acted, as if every step he took was taxing on his body.
And it was.
Which left Alex in imnse confusion.
"That's because the System was able to get one last spiteful attack in before I managed to seal off this realm."
Mikhail sighed, clearly bringing up so mories he'd rather have kept buried.
"It's truly despicable. Every being under its rule has their own System interface, their Details or whatever you call it in this era. Yet, this is the very flaw that chains us all, even us Universal Gods."
"Sure, you actually can live forever if you reach my level of power. In fact, you could even do so at as low as Celestial Rank. It's just that the System doesn't allow you to. What use is having a livestock farm if there's a chance those livestock will never die? Powerful beings are few and far between, which leaves them fewer opponents who are capable of killing them. Naturally, in order to counteract this, the System simply limits everyone's lifespan, nullifying such a risk."
"This is actually a rule added after what happened with . In fact, I am the very reason such a rule exists. Before the System was closed off from and this realm forever, it made one last addition to my Details, a lifespan section. This took away my eternal life. Fortunately my level of power was too imnse for the System to just automatically set my lifespan to sothing like 1 second. It could only give the bare minimum my power affords , which brings us here, now with us two speaking."
Naturally, after coming up with such a genius plan to slowly kill Mikhail in the long run even while not being able to reach him, the System realised just how effective this new addition was and added it to every single living being after that point as well.
Just that unlike Mikhail, who was powerful enough to see through any concealnts placed on his status, this section is hidden for everyone else.
'How fucking despicable!'
The more Alex listened to just how wicked the System was, the more disgusted he felt.
This… thing, the one thing that had helped him through his path to power ever since Awakening, turned out to be the very thing he had been fighting against this whole ti.
It was ironic, really.
Oh if his previous enemies could see his face now.
Unfortunately for them, they were too dead to do so.
But this didn't make Alex feel any better at his situation.
"What's going to happen now then? If even you couldn't fight against the System with your strength as a Universal God, how the hell am I supposed to do anything about it??" Alex truly felt depressed.
Before, he thought that he at least had a chance of reaching a level of power to oppose those 'Gods' who silenced any important information related to Mikhail.
But now that he knew it was impossible, he took a severe blow to his ntal.
