[Requirents for A- rank: Kill a being of higher potential than yourself.]
Alex read through his details thoroughly, eagerly awaiting the results of his absorption of two exceptionally powerful soul orbs. And his expectations didn't disappoint him. He was imdiately hit with a wave of shock when he swept his gaze firstly at his soul core.
'B rank??? When the fuck did this happen!?'
That bold ' ' stuck out like a sore thumb to him. He was clearly a B- rank and he had no recollection whatsoever of ranking up to B rank, let alone B rank above even that.
Is this saying that he had sohow doubled ranked up while he was passed out or sothing? What about the requirents stopping him between each minor rank? Did they not stop him from pushing towards the next tier, regardless of how much energy he absorbed?
Just what was going on??
His heart pounded as he reread his details over and over again, with his mind reeling. But no matter how much he tried to open and close them, they always showed the sa thing. He was definitely a B rank according to what the system was saying. And from Alex's experience, an all powerful, all knowing existence like the System could never be wrong.
Sothing wasn't adding up. He had expected growth — after all, he had absorbed two incredibly powerful soul orbs – but this? This was beyond what should have been possible.
His soul core had not only advanced, but it had skipped two entire ranks. This was just absurd. Even worse was that he had no mory of what had caused this. He was certain that sothing must have taken place that had caused him to skip those two ranks, but his mind could never find the answer. Here he was, standing at the precipice of A tier without even knowing how he got there.
A shiver ran down his spine.
'Did I… do sothing while I was unconscious?'
His fingers twitched as he ran a hand through his sweat matted hair. Normally, when absorbing a soul orb, he would be completely engulfed with his inner thoughts, almost completely imperceptive of the outside world, so the likelihood that sothing like that had taken place wasn't a definite zero, especially considering that he had completely blacked out this ti.
In fact sothing told him that there was sothing wrong with this situation. The void in his mory was enough of an indicator.
Try as he might, he couldn't recall a single thing that had occurred in his soul space. A pit ford in his stomach at the thought. Brontes stirred beside him, the air around the divine beast crackling with subdued energy. The titan's glowing azure eyes bore into Alex, filled with curiosity and concern. It was clear that even the Aetherion had sensed sothing unnatural.
Alex shook his head, forcing himself to focus. Panicking over the unknown wouldn't solve anything. First, he needed to check what else had changed about him.
His gaze flickered back to the status screen.
'Progress towards King class is 85% now… that ans I'm just 1 or 2 more King class soul orbs away from reaching King class myself.'
Eighty five percent.
Before absorbing that King class orb, he had been stuck at just over fifty if he recalled correctly. For others progression in this area was a distant, impossible dream to achieve. And for those who held so hope in that, it would take years just to get even a single percentage. Yet here Alex was, nearing in on King class barely even 2 years after becoming an awakened.
His speed was absurd, and if others knew he was so close, they would probably faint from jealousy.
Moving on, his gaze drifted toward the requirent for his rank up to A tier.
[Requirents for A- rank: Kill a being of higher potential than yourself.]
A wry chuckle escaped his lips. "A being of higher potential, huh? I'm beginning to thing this will be harder and harder to achieve than I might have thought."
His eyes flitted over to his list of talents, and a small flicker of surprise crossed his face when he noticed sothing new.
[Water Lance (A-)]
"Huh," he muttered, rubbing his chin. "This clearly wasn't there before."
Unlike his inexplicable rank ups, this wasn't too shocking. He had a very good idea of where this talent had popped up from, and it most likely ca from his absorption of the Lux's King class soul orb. Considering the Lux seed to be a race that mastered the water elent, with every single Lux he ca across having a Water elental talent, this could only be the right answer.
This was further affird by the fact that the S tier orb didn't have any water elental features to it. 'Or did it? I can't rember much about it now that I think about it…'
Once again the void in his mory plagued him, but he ignored it this ti.
Curious, he checked the further details of Water Lance.
[Water Lance (A-)]
[A high speed, piercing attack composed of condensed water essence. The lance can be freely manipulated, allowing for changes in trajectory mid flight. Scales with the user's power. Enhanced effect when used against fire oriented beings.]
Alex read through the details without much surprise.
"Not bad." He muttered.
It wasn't as overwhelmingly destructive as his Phoenix Flas, nor did it have the versatility of his Spatial Teleportation, but it had its own advantages.
Precision, adaptability, and it might be useful to catch enemies off guard, since a water and fire user would be quite rare he assud.
But of course, the fact that it scaled in power with his own power made him the most satisfied. It ant that it would at least always have its uses even when if he one day becos as powerful as Brontes.
'I'll have to see about incorporating this in my future fights.'
Satisfied for now, Alex closed his details and shifted his attention toward Brontes.
His tad beast remained quiet, but Alex could feel the way his concern for Alex pulsed through their bond. Curious, his lips twitched as he spoke his thoughts aloud.
"I wonder what kind of ridiculous requirent you have to et for your rank up…"
Bringing up Brontes' details, he darted his gaze to the bottom where his eyes t his soul core details.
[Soul Core: A- - 0%] [Check for further rank up requirents.]
Without hesitation, he let his curiosity guide him as he selected to read the requirents, opening up a new window before him.
[Requiernts for progression to A rank: Must awaken a new Divine ability through personal evolution. Must undergo a Celestial Baptism to reinforce the Divine core.]
Alex blinked. "Well… shit."
He had absolutely no clue how Brontes would achieve either of them.
Awakening a new Divine ability sounded exceptionally hard, as they wouldn't be Divine abilities if they were easy to obtain!
As for the second requirent? A Celestial Baptism? What even was that? Alex had never heard of such a thing, and the System wasn't kind enough to give him any further explanations.
A sigh escaped him.
"Figures it wouldn't be easy."
Brontes rumbled, with his massive fra shifting as he gazed at Alex with an almost knowing look. As if to say, 'Did you expect any less?'
Alex let out a chuckle. "Yeah, yeah. You're a walking miracle of a beast. Of course, your requirents would defy common sense."
Still, this only made him more motivated. If even Brontes still had difficulties in ranking up, then that ant he wasn't alone in his suffering…
For now, he needed to refocus.
He had made so many absurd advancents in his personal strength, that his sword was starting to lag behind…
'Poor Virtue's Edge…'
