"Welco aboard!"

He said, his voice smooth and casual as if this were nothing more than a routine eting between old friends.

"I appreciate you trusting enough to et in person."

"Let's cut to the chase."

Alex replied, his tone guarded.

"You said you had information about the Red Demons and why they left Telorn. We're listening."

Donald gestured toward a small eting room just off the corridor.

"All in good ti. First, let's get comfortable. After all, this conversation could take a while."

Mira shot Alex a warning glance, but he simply nodded for her to stay calm.

They followed Donald into the room, taking seats opposite him at a sleek tal table.

The air was thick with unspoken tension.

However while they were taking their seats, Mira leaned over and whispered into Alex's ear.

"Sothing's off, I can't get a feel for this guy's aura…"

She seed a little concerned, more than she was originally with this whole idea of eting.

Not being able to read his aura ant that she had no idea how strong he was…

Donald leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with barely concealed amusent.

"The Red Demons didn't leave Telorn because they were scared or outnumbered. They left because they were ordered to. You see, Alex, there's a much bigger ga being played here, and you've just beco a key player. You and your… powers."

Alex narrowed his eyes, not giving away anything, though Mira stiffened at the ntion of Alex's abilities.

Donald smiled at the reaction.

"Oh yes, I know all about your little gift. It's why the Overseers are interested in you. They want to control it. Harness it."

Alex leaned back in his chair, a faint smile playing at the edges of his lips.

His eyes narrowed ever so slightly, his gaze locking onto Donald as if trying to peel back the layers of the man sitting across from him.

"Oh, you know about my gifts?"

Alex said, his voice calm but laced with a subtle challenge.

"Is that right? Why don't you tell more about that?"

Mira glanced at him, sensing the shift in his tone.

She knew Alex well enough to realise that he was probing, trying to draw Donald out—trying to call his bluff.

After all, Alex could count on one hand the number of people who knew the full extent of his abilities, and those people weren't the type to casually share that information.

Donald's smirk faltered for just a fraction of a second, but it was enough for Alex to catch.

The smooth, self-assured deanour he had displayed from the mont they arrived flickered, revealing a hint of uncertainty beneath.

"Well."

Donald began, leaning back in his chair and attempting to regain his composure.

"I don't have all the details, of course. But let's just say that word has gotten around in certain circles. You're… unique, Alex. And people—powerful people—are very interested in what you can do."

Alex raised an eyebrow, his smile growing ever so slightly. Enjoy more content from empire

"Certain circles, huh? Interesting. Because the people who know about wouldn't exactly be spreading that around. They're more… protective of such secrets."

Donald's eyes darted montarily to the side before returning to Alex. He tried to mask his unease with a chuckle, but the tension in the air was palpable.

"Well, you'd be surprised how much can slip through the cracks when the right ears are listening."

Alex tilted his head, his tone sharp but still asured.

"Surprised? Maybe. But not about this. So, Donald, who's been talking? Because I know for a fact that no one who actually understands what I can do would be letting that information 'slip.' Not willingly, at least."

Mira stayed quiet, her gaze never leaving Donald as she observed the way he fidgeted under Alex's pressure.

The calm confidence Donald had displayed was starting to crack, and Mira knew Alex had him cornered.

She could feel sothing was off with the man, but now she had a better idea of what.

Donald cleared his throat, his smirk vanishing entirely.

"Look, Alex, I'm not here to cause trouble. I've just… heard things, okay? The Overseers, the Red Demons—they've got their eyes on you. They're planning sothing big, and I thought you'd want to know. That's why I reached out. To help you."

"Help ?"

Alex asked, his voice low but dangerous now.

"You're trying to help ? By throwing around vague threats and pretending you know more than you do? No, Donald, I think there's more to this. Who sent you? And what exactly are you after?"

Donald shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his once confident air now replaced with sowhat uncomfortable energy.

"No one sent ."

He said quickly.

"I'm just… trying to make the best of a situation. I have my own interests in this too, sure, but we can both benefit from working together."

Mira finally spoke up, her voice cold and cutting.

"You didn't answer his question. Who told you about Alex's powers?"

Donald opened his mouth to respond but hesitated, clearly weighing his options.

He knew he was losing control of the situation.

Alex wasn't buying his act, and Mira's presence only made it worse.

After a long mont of silence, Donald sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

"I'm not at liberty to say."

He finally muttered, trying to regain so semblance of composure.

"But I know more than you think, Alex. And if you're smart, you'll listen to what I have to offer."

Alex exchanged a look with Mira, a silent understanding passing between them.

Donald was clearly hiding sothing—sothing big.

But for now, Alex decided to play along, if only to see how much further Donald would dig himself in.

"Fine."

Alex said, leaning forward slightly.

"Let's say I'm listening. What exactly are you offering, Donald?"

Donald's relief was almost palpable as he leaned forward eagerly, sensing that he might still salvage the situation.

"I'm offering information. About the Red Demons. About what they're planning. And about the Overseers. You're in the middle of sothing huge, Alex, and if you don't prepare for it, you'll be swept away."

Alex remained silent, watching Donald intently.
