"You know, if I am indeed the Chaos Ascension King, then I guess it is a bit humbling to know I lost to the Paragon, whom, while I don’t like to brag, I saved not long ago," Kent said, flicking his hair back as he stared at Lady Kenzie and the Death dude.

Leaving the Eternals to ponder his words, he focused on the Death dude.

When he started cultivating the World Root Chaos Scripture, he sensed a call from deep within his soul, far beneath the Blood Sea. Initially, he was mistaken about where it came from, but it sounded again.

Focusing his mind there, he began to investigate.

The last thing he wanted was to release something he shouldn’t, especially now that the Underworld Soul River seemed to be undergoing an upgrade. Something might have slipped through during that time.

So he moved cautiously, and during his investigation, he discovered a figure chained deep within the vast, expansive blood sea of his soul.

He wasn’t malnourished or suffering. If anything, the only inconvenience Kent saw was the chains binding him. It appears someone had chained him, and Kent seems to know who...

Kent questioned him:

---

"I wonder why you are here without my knowledge. But I am going to be curious and ask, what the hell are you doing inside my soul, buddy?" The question was simple, but the fury in the figure’s eyes was simply overwhelming.

He looked back at Kent and gritted his teeth.

"I have never been humiliated like this before, Dragon. In all my existence, the only person who dared look down on me was the Chaos Ascension King, but even he had to attest to the fact that I am someone equal to him in both greatness and finesse.

So to be chained here inside this lowly place, I have to be honest, I am very angry and would probably claim your life as pensation."

Kent furrowed his brow and asked, "So you know the Chaos Ascension King?"

"Of course I do. He and I go way back, Dragon. You had better release me and beg for my forgiveness. Maybe I will have mercy and only turn you into my Death Puppet."

Kent laughed, intrigued despite knowing he stood in the presence of Death.

"I have to ask, though, if someone of your caliber, someone who once stood shoulder to shoulder with the Chaos Ascension King, ends up chained inside my soul, then what do you make of the fact that maybe I am far more powerful than you think?"

At Kent’s question, a grin formed on the man’s face, and he answered,

"It would do you good to find out whether you are brave enough to loosen these chains a bit."

"No, don’t do it, Master. He would kill you before you could even breathe," Lady Kenzie appeared beside Kent, narrowing her gem-like green eyes at the chained figure.

"Of course I know that. I am not stupid," Kent replied, regarding Lady Kenzie for a few seconds before turning back to the Death dude, who now held a hateful gaze toward her.

"Life, you seem much weaker than I expected. Why? Did you fail to live on as you should?"

Lady Kenzie smirked. "Says Death, who lost to Master’s will. Or do you think Master wouldn’t know you would rebel and make plans for you?" She sneered and added, "In fact, I never expected you to still be sane after all these years had passed."

Death chuckled, looking pissed and nonchalant at the same time. "Existence is an anagram of Life. We never truly know what lies ahead, aside from that Paragon bastard. But when you give life to Death, you don’t expect it to abide by your rules anymore, do you?"

Lady Kenzie sighed and nodded. "I do. However, you have to know that the Master gave us this existence, and for that, we should be grateful."

"I guess you are right." Death nodded and looked at Kent, "However, he is not the Master. He is not the Chaos Ascension King, so don’t expect me to bow to him."

At his words, Kent smiled. "Regardless of who I am or who I am not, the question now is whether or not you will abide by the will of the Chaos Ascension King and submit to my rule."

Kent said the words casually, then chuckled. However, the next second, his entire soul sea shook, and Death was sent to his knees.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

The crimson clouds parted, and the blood-red sea divided, revealing a terrifying eye so powerful that when Kent looked into it, cracks formed across his soul.

"All hail the Sovereign of Life and Death," Lady Kenzie said as she dropped to her knees.

To Kent’s shock, Death did the same. "All hail the Sovereign of Life and Death."

No sound followed, but when the eye closed, and the sky returned to normal, Kent sensed a shift in the air. He turned his attention back to Death only to see him still kneeling, the chains that had bound him now gone.

"Well, well, well, look how the mighty have fallen," Kent said.

But instead of being angry, Death raised his head and smiled at Kent.

"I never expected you to possess the power to invoke the will of the Chaos Ascension King. If I had known, I wouldn’t have threatened you."

Kent raised a brow and replied, "Oh, that? I merely joked about that. Who knew it would have...?"

"This..." Death was at a loss for words.

"Relax. I am sure whoever you are or were wouldn’t change. However, you are bound to me now, so maybe let’s get along. Hopefully, when we meet the Chaos Ascension King, we can both get what we want."

"And what is it that you want?" Death asked.

"To go back home to my loved ones. They miss me, and I miss them."

Death stood there for a few seconds before nodding. "Very well, Dragon. We can both get what we want if we cooperate, so I will cooperate with you. Just don’t take too long. My patience can only last for a few million years."

"That is more than enough for me to reach the stage where I wouldn’t need you anymore."

---

Kent grinned, looking back at Death. "How does it feel to finally be free?"

Death narrowed his eyes and said, "I don’t know if you are indeed the Chaos Ascension King, but stop wasting time and get on with your cultivation. Death has no time to waste."

Kent grinned and snapped his fingers, sending both Lady Kenzie and Death away.

"What an uptight buddy. When I surpass the Chaos Ascension King, I will be sure to tell him a piece of my mind."

Kent chuckled, turning back to Namarie, who was now on her feet.

"I don’t know why you have decided not to cultivate Death, but know this: both Life and Death are supposed to go hand in hand. So think about it, and if you must, make sure you and your people start cultivating it."

"I will heed your advice, Lord Kent."

Kent nodded, not minding how Namarie now referred to him. She might be an Eternal, but before the Sovereign of Life and Death, she knew she could not look down on him.

He turned to the next cultivation art he would prehend.

’Up next, the Primordial Abyss Chaos Heart Art.’
