[You have entered the "Forgotten Graveyard".]

The second and final zone of the Forgotten City had finally revealed itself.

Once awakener stepped into the city, all they had to do was follow the path straight to its very end, where this place waited.

The entrance was marked by a small, rusted graveyard gate, its bars warped with age.

Beyond it stretched the graveyard itself, vast in its own right, though nowhere near as sprawling as the city it served as the conclusion to.

To Sam, this ant one thing above all else: the end was close.

The final fight of this layer, and the boss that ruled over it, would be sowhere in this very place.

Since both the [Upper] realm and these missions were completely new to him, and to everyone else, he had no idea how the system handled completion announcents.

Would a public ssage appear the mont soone finished a mission?

He assud it would, but if that was the case... why hadn’t he received one yet?

He was certain the group of celestials wouldn’t take long to clear this layer.

In fact, they probably had the strength to do it much faster than him.

’I don’t want to be the first to finish either,’ Sam thought, keeping his pace steady. ’If there’s even a small chance my na gets shown to everyone, I’m done for.’

He was alone, after all.

And if word got out that soone had managed to clear the seventh layer entirely by themselves, and faster than anyone else, he wouldn’t stay hidden for long.

[Who cares, just kill them if they find out =)]

’I’d say the sa thing,’ Sam answered in his head, ’but I’m not strong enough for that yet.’

He shrugged, brushing the thought aside.

’Maybe... later.’

Even so, he didn’t hesitate to step inside.

He wasn’t about to stop his progress here.

Besides, sothing had been bothering him.

’I haven’t seen anything leading to that being,’ he thought. ’Could this be like the second layer, where the real gate was buried much deeper in the zone?’

The graveyard seed straightforward enough, just a straight marble path lined with gray, brittle grass on either side.

Rows of dark, worn tombstones stretched out endlessly, their carvings faded beyond recognition.

Sam walked on for several minutes, waiting for the first sign of trouble, but nothing ca.

No movent among the graves. No unnatural sounds. Only silence.

For the second zone of this layer, he had expected stronger enemies, or at the very least so kind of resistance.

But here... nothing at all.

It felt like the place truly lived up to its na, desolate and forgotten by all.

Nearly ten minutes passed before sothing finally broke the monotony.

At the far end of the marble path stood a massive tombstone, far larger than the rest, like a monunt.

It didn’t take much imagination to figure out this would be the boss’s resting place.

He slowed his steps.

The mont he drew too close, he knew sothing would happen.

But instead of the usual sudden attack, panels began appearing before his eyes.

[You are... finally here...]

[I can feel THEM... they are with you... aren’t they?]

Sam’s expression didn’t change.

Beside him, the [Forsaken Clone] read the sa words, and for the first ti, the smile it always wore disappeared.

[Then co on... show it to ...]

Fwish! BOOM!

The massive tombstone before them began to shake violently, stone cracking and splintering as a towering figure rose from the earth beneath.

---

[Forgotten Undead Lord (???)]

[Level: 75]

[Description: The most ancient undead in the forgotten city, he only seeks to kill whoever stands before him.]

[Hell-Mode Analysis: We won’t even fight him, so who cares.]

---

Sam shifted into a ready stance, fingers tightening around his weapon.

But when he read the [Hell-Mode Analysis], he froze, frowning slightly.

"What do you an, we won’t be fighting hi—"

He didn’t even get to finish the question.

Fwish! BOOM!

"What the fuck."

A massive gate fell from the sky without warning, crashing directly on top of the Undead Lord.

The impact crushed the creature instantly, killing it before it could even take a step forward.

Sam blinked, caught completely off guard.

Since he hadn’t struck the killing blow, he couldn’t absorb the monster’s core, and it didn’t count as him completing the seventh layer’s mission.

Technically... the mission wasn’t done at all.

’Do I have to run through this whole layer again?’ he wondered.

The boss was gone, which ant he could leave, but before he could think further, the gate that had fallen from nowhere began to glow with an eerie white aura.

Its surface bore a familiar image, the sa design he’d seen before.

Six distinct items surrounded a central figure, chains bursting from each of them to bind that being in place.

And then...

[I have waited for far too long...]

[But I do not bla those who have forsaken as they are gone... I only wish... to get rid of you, the last of their kind...]

[You are the last one, aren’t you...? Haha... then co to , or else I will not allow you... to proceed any further.]

Sam’s gaze hardened, his expression turning cold.

He didn’t waste ti with a response.

He stepped forward, spinning his primordial sword in his grip.

"I’ve co too far for sothing like you to stop ," he muttered. "I just need to kill you."

[Determination... let see it in action...]

Fwish! Ding!

The gate’s glow intensified.

It began to tremble, its heavy fra shifting as it slowly opened, revealing a veil of pure darkness beyond.

[Step through...]

"...Hm."

Trap or not, it didn’t matter.

If he refused to go in, the mission would remain incomplete, and he’d be stuck in the forsaken kingdom forever.

[Hell-Mode Analysis: His determination is unbelievably strong... but that just ans overpowering it will make us stronger =)]

Sam let out a quiet sigh and stepped closer.

Reaching the gate, he prepared to jump through.

But just as he was about to move—

Ding!

[Global Announcent: The "First Mission" has been completed by the "Eternal" group.]

’Eternal group?’ Sam’s brow furrowed. ’What?’

Still, it confird his earlier suspicion, once soone completed a mission, a global announcent would echo through the [Upper] realm.

Since they were a group, the system displayed their na.

But what if the player was alone? Most likely, it would display their personal na instead.

Ding!

[As the first mission has officially been completed by a group, the radius of the safe zone has been expanded all the way to the "First Barrier".]

[Though do note, only the group that has completed the mission will be able to head deeper.]

[They have been assigned their second mission, along with a reward for being the first to complete the mission.]

[Keep working hard, may the gods of these realms help you all.]

The panels vanished.

Sam stared at the empty air for a mont before letting out another sigh.

’I guess that’s fine for now.’

He’d understand everything more clearly once he completed the mission himself.

For now, though...

’I need to deal with that being.’

He turned his eyes toward the dark veil waiting beyond the gate.

Then, without hesitation, he jumped inside.

[Finally... I will finally be free... and end your... MISERABLE existence...]

"We’ll see," Sam murmured with a grin.

Fwish! Ding!
