The prison guards were puzzled by the arrival of the military doctor.

"Who is he?" asked one of the guards, seeing that the interrogation room was being closely guarded.

"He’s the one who’s going to be executed for giving poison to His Majesty. What are they going to do to him?"

Various terrible thoughts crossed their minds. They were certain Kai’s condition was critical due to torture, and a doctor was needed because Kai had to stay alive until his execution.

"Good, he’s feeling how cruel General Huron is," said another guard. They returned to their respective duties.

Inside the room, Sylas refused to leave Kai despite Huron’s insistence.

"Your Royal Highness, please, we must go," pleaded Huron.

Sylas held Kai’s hand tightly. anwhile, the doctor was stitching the slave’s ear.

"Wait a mont, General," said Sylas, as Kai refused to let go of his hand. Especially after seeing the slave enduring the pain.

Sylas could feel the trembling in Kai’s hands, but the slave only stared at him with clenched lips, occasionally groaning in pain, while the doctor continued treating him.

The military doctor was faster and more practical, as he was used to treating soldiers’ wounds. It was no surprise, then, that he remained unfazed by Kai’s groans of pain. His hands moved swiftly and skillfully.

"Don’t hold back. You can scream if it helps," Sylas said, holding Kai’s hand, trying to give the slave so support.

Kai felt his teeth chattering from the pain, but he didn’t want to worry Sylas. Seeing the man beside him was already a great comfort. After all, Sylas had co to save him from torture. What more could he ask for?

Kai was happy. And that feeling slightly eased the pain in his body.

"Should I give him dicine?" the doctor asked Huron. He knew Kai was going to be executed, so giving him dicine seed pointless.

"Please, give him dicine," Sylas interrupted. "The best dicine you have," he added.

The doctor nodded, glancing at Kai briefly before taking so powdered dicine from his bag. Since soldiers often suffered similar wounds, he always carried dicine with him wherever he went.

The doctor was just as curious as Huron. How could Sylas treat Kai like this, unlike how others treated slaves? Especially since Kai was branded a murderer.

Huron felt a little relieved that Kai had ended up on the gallows. Otherwise, the slave might have caused a scandal and trouble for Sylas.

The doctor applied so ointnt to the cuts on Kai’s body, causing the slave to groan again.

"Painful?" Sylas asked.

Kai endured the pain, but Sylas’s question left him speechless. He was too busy wondering whether he could speak the truth.

"Very painful?" Sylas repeated, noticing the slave had fallen silent. He was sure Kai was enduring unbearable pain. He couldn’t even imagine being in the slave’s position.

Kai swallowed hard, afraid of saying sothing wrong, and nodded slowly, his hands tightening around Sylas’s. His hands were wet and sweaty, cold and pale as he clenched them tightly.

"I will make sure this is the last ti you feel this pain. I won’t let you suffer anymore," Sylas said, as if making a promise to himself. He felt responsible for Kai, the puppy he had picked up on the street.

His words made Huron and the doctor exchange glances. Sylas’s words could be interpreted differently. Especially considering his position as the next king. And with Kai about to be executed, Sylas’s words seed like he wanted to use his power to free a prisoner.

anwhile, Kai stared at Sylas without blinking. Sylas’s words sounded like a farewell. Like the words of his trainer in Omino before he was taken to Room Zero. That this would be his last pain before he died.

Whatever it ant, Sylas’s words ant everything to him. His master was by his side in his final monts.

"T-thank you, Master..." Kai said.

Sylas gripped Kai’s hand tighter before letting go. The doctor was leaving, which ant he had to go too.

"Stay here, eat a lot, and rember, I’ll be back," Sylas said.

Kai just stared silently. He didn’t want to let go of his master’s hand, but he had no choice. His gaze was sad as he watched Sylas walk out of the room, and the door closed.

He was alone again.

Huron ordered special guards to watch over the room, forbidding anyone from approaching, and providing Kai with basic necessities. At the sa ti, he wanted to avoid rumors. He didn’t want anyone to see Kai receiving special treatnt.

No one knew Kai’s true condition.

But for Sylas, it was important to ensure the slave’s safety. He couldn’t watch him twenty-four hours a day when he had so many other problems to deal with.

In King Adrien’s room, Doctor Rhanda provided detailed information about the king’s dical history to Doctor Ibran.

Ibran prepared the dicine there, knowing the palace’s complicated procedures, and made sure he didn’t use any ingredients that could endanger the king’s life. He only listened to Rhanda’s words without comnting much, as he knew the king’s condition after seeing him.

King Adrien’s condition caught his attention, as the king was surrounded by a dark aura, the kind usually found in those under the control of sorcery. He himself didn’t have enough expertise in that field, but he could sense it better than most.

He believed that whatever was controlling the king at that mont was preventing any treatnt from working, while also keeping the man from dying. Adrien was just a living corpse.

He couldn’t explain this to the royal doctors, knowing they were the most stubborn people when it ca to invisible matters. In fact, they would doubt his abilities, and that would backfire on him.

Ibran only added a special ingredient to suppress that control so the dicine could work properly. After that, he had to inform the prince about the next step. They needed to remove the magic or curse affecting King Adrien.

Rhanda checked the ingredients Ibran used, making sure they didn’t conflict with the king’s allergies or dical history. After confirming everything was safe, he just stood there watching.

Ibran quickly and carefully placed the secret powder in his hand, so he wouldn’t arouse suspicion.

That night, no one believed what was happening.

King Adrien opened his eyes.
