Both of them checked their phones after receiving the ssage.

Jiang Father and Jiang Mother were still not fully recovered from the shock, but fortunately, they were seasoned veterans of the business world.

They knew that no matter how unexpected the situation, the most important thing was to stay calm.

So, in the courtyard, everyone was present except Jiang Qian, Fang ng, and Grandpa.

Jiang Father walked up to Lin Zhengran, while Jiang Mother looked in surprise at her eldest daughter. She had never seen her daughter so lacking in restraint.

Jiang Jingshi did not respond to her mother’s gaze.

Jiang Father apologized,

“Zhengran, our two daughters really let you see a joke today. We didn’t even manage to host you properly. For now, why don’t you head back? Your aunt and I need to take care of this situation.”

Jiang Mother added,

“Next ti, when there’s more ti, we’ll properly host you. We’re truly sorry—won’t keep you any longer today.”

Lin Zhengran understood the elders’ concerns—after all, for their daughters to act like that in front of them was no small matter.

He smiled and said,

“It’s fine. But I hope Uncle and Auntie can be a little more understanding toward Jingshi. Don’t scold her too much. The situation just now caught everyone off guard—I think it was just a reflex on her part.”

Jiang Mother gave her daughter another look. Jiang Jingshi kept silent, only bowing her head slightly.

Jiang Mother replied,

“We understand. Since you two are already together, what happened just now—although a little improper—can still be explained. It’s just… Qianqian… That girl really is a bit too impulsive. We’ll have a good talk with her.”

Jiang Father let out a long sigh. He seed to want to say sothing but held back, only repeating:

“Letting you see a joke.”

“It’s not a joke, just sothing unexpected,” Lin Zhengran replied. “Then I’ll take my leave. Goodbye, Uncle, Auntie. Goodbye, Jingshi.”

Jiang Jingshi looked up at him when she heard his voice and said softly,

“Be safe on the road. Tell the driver to take it slow.”

Their eyes t, and Lin Zhengran understood what Jiang Jingshi wanted to convey.

He smiled faintly.

“Got it. I’m heading out. See you at the office tomorrow.”

Hearing the words “see you tomorrow,” Jiang Jingshi brightened up. Of course Zheng Zheng understood what she was thinking.

She nodded,

“Okay. See you tomorrow.”

Lin Zhengran got into the car and left with the driver.

The whole family stood watching in the direction he had left. Jiang Jingshi kept her eyes fixed on the spot where the car disappeared at the corner of the road.

Suddenly, Jiang Father coughed.

The sound startled Jiang Jingshi, making her stiffen a little in embarrassnt.

Jiang Father snorted and said to his wife,

“Let’s go! Call that little rascal daughter of ours and tell her to get back here for a eting!”

Although Jiang Mother often bickered with her husband, when it ca to serious matters, she never talked back.

That was a key reason why they’d been able to work so well together in the company all these years.

Jiang Father said to his eldest daughter,

“I’ll call your sister. You go back inside and wait.”

“Mm.”

At a nearby park just outside the villa district, Jiang Qian stood silently by the pond after being found by Fang ng.

Even in heartbreak, this Second Miss didn’t sob dramatically. Her tears just slid quietly down her cheeks.

Fang ng pulled a pack of tissues from her pocket, opened it, and handed her two sheets.

“Qianqian, wipe your tears.”

She didn’t take them.

“What’s so great about my sister anyway? I can’t believe they’re actually together. Lin Zhengran actually likes her. And she even kissed him right in front of . She even reached…”

Fang ng recalled the scene just now, feeling a mix of jealousy and surprise herself.

“I didn’t expect the always-composed Eldest Miss to do sothing like that in front of Master and Madam either. But clearly, she did it to make you give up.”

“She’s dreaming!” Jiang Qian gritted her teeth. “I’m never giving up. There’s only one Lin Zhengran in this world, and I’m not giving him to anyone. Not even my sister!”

Fang ng nudged the tissue toward her again.

“Still, Qianqian, you’ve got guts. Saying that out loud like that—and in front of everyone—and doing that to Lin Zhengran too… you and the Eldest Miss are really neck and neck.”

Jiang Qian took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. She took the tissue and wiped away her tears.

She seed to have regained her strength.

“I lost this dinner round, but it was just a small defeat. Like I said just now—so long as they’re not married, I still have a chance.

In the end, who Lin Zhengran spends his life with isn’t set in stone. So what if they’re temporarily together?

Being together just ans they can hug, kiss, and call each other all day long… that’s it…”

As she spoke, sothing seed to dawn on Jiang Qian. Her sister had said she didn’t even understand how couples kiss, and then she went and kissed Lin Zhengran.

That ant… her sister had already kissed him lots of tis in private.

Jiang Qian’s eyes trembled again, and her lips began to quiver.

She finally couldn’t hold it in and burst out crying:

“Wuwuwu…”

Startling Fang ng.

“Qianqian? What’s wrong?”

“Wuwu… why does Lin Zhengran like my sister? I’m just as pretty as her—maybe even prettier because I’m younger! And I’ve known him longer than she has! I was with him every day in high school! He even taught to play piano!

Why did he choose her, Xiao ng? I don’t get it!”

Fang ng hugged her, listening to her cry in her arms.

All these years, she had never seen Jiang Qian so heartbroken.

It was like going into battle with a million troops against three hundred thousand—and suffering a crushing defeat. Completely unacceptable.

She gently patted her back.

“There, there, don’t be sad. Just like you said—it’s not a total loss, right? You said it yourself: there’s still a chance.”

“Wuwuwu… but I still can’t accept that she kissed Lin Zhengran~ How could she kiss him?!”

Just as she said that, Fang ng’s phone rang.

It was Madam Jiang calling.

“Qianqian, it’s your mom.”

Jiang Qian’s crying stopped instantly.

“Answer it.”

Fang ng picked up, and Madam Jiang first asked about Qianqian’s condition. Fang ng reassured her that there was nothing serious.

Then Madam Jiang told them to co ho.

Fang ng nodded.

“Okay, okay. I understand, Madam. I’ll bring Qianqian back once she’s cald down. Yes, don’t worry, you and Master.”

After hanging up, Jiang Qian asked,

“She’s calling back for a eting?”

“Mm. Master seems really mad. Grandpa, Master, Madam, and Eldest Miss are all waiting for you.”

Still in Fang ng’s arms, Jiang Qian stretched out her hand, her voice icy again.

“Xiao ng, give another tissue.”

“Oh, sure.”

Fang ng handed her another tissue.

Jiang Qian wiped her tears, stood up straight, and visibly returned to her usual state.

“Can you tell I’ve been crying?”

“A little… your eyes are a bit red.” Fang ng helped dab the corners of her eyes.

“Then help find sowhere to wash my face. Once I’m done, we’ll head back. Since we’re the ones who declared war, we can’t run away!

This battle with my sister is the one fight I absolutely cannot lose in my life!”

Fang ng was moved and smiled.

“Qianqian really is Qianqian. All these years, no one’s ever beaten you. Rest up and then win next ti—except for Lin Zhengran, that is.”

Jiang Qian gave a soft snort and turned to find a place to wash her face.

“In this world, no one but Lin Zhengran can defeat .”

She paused and muttered to herself,

“This battle—I will win!”
