The next morning, the sun was bright and clear.
The three Jiang girls hadn’t slept all night. On the other side, Lin Zhengran had also stayed up, scouring the internet for information.
He’d discovered that this so-called Jixin Syndro was so rare that there was barely any reliable material on it.
At least, nothing useful could be found in the mainstream dical books or research papers online.
Thankfully, his Level 2 Master of All Things skill helped with tracking down obscure texts. Lin Zhengran was able to follow so leads and locate hard-to-find books, which he then forwarded to Pan Lin.
But even with their company’s resources, Pan Lin couldn’t track down every single book.
So of them were so niche or obscure that they were nearly extinct—or already lost to ti.
Around 9 a.m., Pan Lin arrived at Lin Zhengran’s house with a group of n in suits. Each of them carried a large suitcase in both hands.
There were about seven or eight of them.
At that ti, Lin Xiaoli and Lin Yingjun were watching TV at ho. When soone knocked at the door, Lin Xiaoli got up to answer it.
“Who is it?”
Pan Lin stood at the door, bowing politely. “Hello, is this Mr. Lin’s residence? I’m here to deliver so items for him.”
Peeking through the peephole, Lin Xiaoli saw a bunch of n in black suits with briefcases. She was both confused and nervous.
What the heck?
Salesn? Insurance agents? The Matrix?
She waved to her husband, “Honey, co here! Check this out!” she whispered. “There’s a whole group of people at the door!”
Lin Yingjun got up nervously and also peeked through the peephole. Sure enough, it looked weird.
The couple was instantly on edge.
Swallowing hard, Lin Yingjun called out, “Mr. Lin? What Mr. Lin? You’ve got the wrong place. What do you people want?”
In the bedroom, Lin Zhengran heard the noise, quickly got out of bed, and ca to the living room.
“Dad, Mom, it’s fine. I asked them to co.”
“Huh?”
Lin Zhengran walked over and opened the door.
Pan Lin bowed again.
Lin Zhengran pointed toward his bedroom. “Put all the books in my room.”
Pan Lin directed the group to move everything in an orderly fashion. They entered and exited more than a dozen tis, leaving the empty suitcases behind.
Then she handed him a thick list.
“This is the list you gave last night. So far, I’ve found about 80% of them. I’ve already sent people to keep looking for the rest, and I’ll deliver them as soon as I get them.”
Lin Zhengran nodded and didn’t bother with pleasantries—just said, “Keep it moving.”
And just like that, the team left as quickly as they ca, vanishing down the hallway.
Only Lin Yingjun and Lin Xiaoli were left behind, completely confused.
Lin Yingjun cautiously walked over to his son’s room—only to find the place filled to the brim with books!
They were stacked around the bed like mountains, with only a narrow path to walk through.
He couldn’t tell exactly how many there were, but there had to be thousands.
“Son, what’s going on here?! You opening a bookstore or sothing?”
Flipping through the checklist, Lin Zhengran answered casually,
“I’m heading off to college soon. Just trying to study and research a few things.”
Lin Xiaoli also walked in and was stunned by the sheer volu of books.
“Isn’t this a little overboard, son? You didn’t go this hard for the college entrance exam! And you’ve always been a bookworm—our storage room is packed with books you’ve read.”
Back in his room, Lin Zhengran replied,
“You can sell those now. I won’t read the sa book twice.”
Lin Xiaoli sighed. Her son really wasn’t like normal people.
“I was afraid you might need them again, so I never threw them out.”
Sitting down on his bed, Lin Zhengran picked a book at random and said,
“If I’ve already read it, I won’t look for it again. Have you ever seen go back to the storage room?”
Lin Xiaoli nodded. “That’s true.”
Lin Yingjun added, “Just don’t wear yourself out with all this reading. This is way too much... Back when I was in school, I never went to these lengths.”
He picked up a book and flipped through it. “Most of these are dical texts, huh? Now you’re studying dicine? And these books—bet they weren’t cheap.”
“I’ve been doing a bit of freelance work. Books aren’t that expensive.”
Then he added, “Alright, go back to watching TV. Don’t worry about . No need to call for als today either. I’ll grab sothing from the kitchen when I’m hungry.”
Lin Xiaoli and Lin Yingjun both nodded.
As they closed his door behind them, Lin Zhengran called out one last reminder, “And shut the door, please.”
Outside, the couple looked at each other.
To them, it wasn’t anything new—Lin Zhengran had never been a typical kid.
People always said that geniuses and madn were separated by a thin line.
They both agreed with that.
With how obsessed he was about reading, he really wasn’t normal.
Lin Yingjun sighed and whispered,
“Honestly, it’s a good thing we’re living in peaceful tis. If this were any other era, who knows what world-changing stuff our son would be doing.”
Lin Xiaoli wholeheartedly agreed.
For the next two days, Lin Zhengran stayed holed up in his room, reading and thinking.
He kept an eye on his EXP bar too.
Right now, there were two possible ways to treat Jiang Jingshi:
One was to level up again and see what new abilities Level 3 Master of All Things would unlock.
The other was to find a treatnt thod through his studies.
There was technically a third option, though…
It was more of a longevity-focused route, and whether it could actually cure anything was still uncertain—it belonged to a completely different system.
Still, the reason he’d told Jiang Jingshi that he’d figure sothing out within a month was because—at his current level—if he used all his free ti to study,
he could probably break through to Level 3 in less than a month.
If he encountered a Fortuitous Encounter, it could happen even faster—maybe within a day.
But those were rare. Lin Zhengran had already tested that theory long ago.
Fortuitous encounters were things that found you—the more you tried to chase them, the less likely they were to happen.
They were based entirely on luck and couldn’t be relied on.
So, if he wanted to find a cure as fast as possible, his best bet was to combine his Level 2 learning ability with reading and figure sothing out himself.
After all, diseases were always easier to treat in the early or middle stages. The longer you waited, the harder it got.
And maybe luck was on his side.
After two days of digging through countless books, he actually stumbled across a theory in one book that described a treatnt for sothing similar.
The only issue… was that sothing seed missing.
But overall, it was headed in the right direction.
That morning, Lin Zhengran was sitting on his bed reading, lost in thought.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the bedroom door.
He didn’t react at first. But when the sound ca again, he finally looked up.
“Mom? Didn’t we say not to bother unless it’s urgent?”
But the voice outside wasn’t Lin Xiaoli’s.
“It’s not Auntie—it’s , Fang ng. Can I co in?”
Lin Zhengran was surprised. Fang ng?
He’d been so absorbed in reading, he hadn’t even noticed she was here.
“Co in. The door’s not locked.”
Fang ng slowly pushed open the door. As usual, she was dressed fashionably—today it was a red-and-white plaid short-sleeved top with a black-brown skirt.
Her long, fair legs were paired with white sneakers, and her hair was in its signature side ponytail.
She was stunned at the sight of all the books—but considering Jiang Qian’s room sotis looked like this too, it wasn’t entirely shocking.
Geniuses were just built different.
“So many books? Auntie wasn’t exaggerating. There’s barely even a path left in here,” she said in awe.
Lin Zhengran leaned back against the headboard. “What brings you here?”
Fang ng’s cheeks turned slightly red as she recalled kissing him after graduation.
“I ca to check on you. Auntie said you’ve been totally imrsed in dical books lately. Said she’s never seen you read like this before, so I got a little worried.”
Lin Zhengran smiled. “What’s there to worry about? I still get up to eat and use the bathroom.”
Well, that’s still better than Qianqian, Fang ng thought.
When she goes into seclusion, she really doesn’t leave the room at all…
She tiptoed over to the bed and recognized a lot of the books.
“Why the sudden interest in dical texts? And it looks like they’re all about the sa category—cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases?”
Lin Zhengran raised an eyebrow. “You’re sharp.”
“Well, I have been studying dicine for years. That’s why I ca over—figured if you’re digging into dical stuff, maybe I can help. Did sothing happen?”
He recalled that Fang ng had always been into dicine, but he hadn’t really paid much attention before.
“Nothing serious. But since you’ve studied for years...”
He pulled out the checklist Pan Lin had struggled to complete and handed it to her.
“Do any of these look familiar?”
Fang ng took the list and scanned it. They were all on cardiovascular conditions.
“So of these titles sound familiar. But a lot of books share similar nas. I might have them, but they’re really old ones.”
“You have them?!” Lin Zhengran was shocked.
Pan Lin had said many of these were considered lost.
Fang ng nodded.
“Funny story—I actually have a huge book collection. A few old village doctors in my hotown left them to . Tons of obscure, hard-to-read dical books.
If you want, I can take you there to check it out. But we’ll need to drive—it’s pretty far, in my village.”

Lin Zhengran’s eyes lit up slightly, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he stared at Fang ng.
“What’s with that look?” she asked, blushing.
