The mont Lin Jinju saw their grinning faces, her instincts scread.

She tried to slam the door shut in panic, but it was already too late.

With brute force and shaless grins, the two soldiers shoved the door open, pushing her backward. One of them laughed loudly, the other stepped in confidently, as though they owned the place.

"Hey now, don’t be like that," the one she had slapped sneered, rubbing his jaw as he crossed the threshold.

Lin Jinju stumbled back, nearly tripping over her own feet as she tried to reach for sothing—anything—to defend herself with. But the knife, the curtain rod... she had already put them away, ashad and awkward in front of Shinju. Her hands ca up instinctively, shaking, palms open, backing away.

The man she had slapped cracked his neck with a sick grin. "She’s springy like a chicken," he said, mocking the way she had jumped. "Let’s test and see how spicy you can get, lady~"

"Get out of my house!" Lin Jinju scread, voice breaking in panic. "I said, GET OUT!"

She grabbed the first thing she could find on the coffee table—a small porcelain bowl—and hurled it at them. It shattered at their feet, the pieces skittering across the floor. But it didn’t stop them.

The second soldier laughed, stepping over the shards like it was a ga. "Careful. You’ll ss up that pretty little face."

Her eyes darted to the side, desperately searching for anything else. Her hands landed on the cushion from the sofa. With a burst of fear-fueled adrenaline, she hurled it square into the face of the man approaching her.

He stumbled slightly from the hit—not hurt, just annoyed.

That hesitation was enough.

She turned to run toward the kitchen, where she thought she might still have a knife in the drawer, but before she could reach it, the first man grabbed her wrist roughly.

"Don’t make this hard," he hissed.

With a cry, Lin Jinju twisted around, her hand shooting up into her hair bun. She yanked the tal hairpin from it, the bun collapsing as her hair fell over her face. She didn’t think, didn’t hesitate—she jabbed it downward with all her strength.

The pin plunged into the soft flesh between the soldier’s thumb and index finger.

He scread in pain, instinctively letting go of her. "You BITCH!"

But Lin Jinju wasn’t finished. As he reeled back, she snatched the fallen cushion again and ramd it into his face, pushing him away. Her other hand reached for a ceramic coaster from the table and she threw it at the second soldier’s head. It missed by inches but shattered against the wall behind him, startling him enough to step back.

Her chest heaved, her breath ragged and uneven. Her eyes were wide with panic, but her hands didn’t stop moving—throwing, striking, anything to buy herself a mont.

"Get the hell out of my house!" she yelled again, her voice cracking.

The first man was clutching his hand, blood trickling from where the bun pin was still embedded. His face twisted with rage. "You’re going to regret that," he growled.

She backed toward the hallway, heart racing, her mind screaming for a way out—praying soone would hear.

Lin Jinju stumbled backward, trying to make a break for the kitchen where she might still find sothing sharp—but she didn’t even make it two steps.

A harsh yank pulled her head back.

The scream caught in her throat as fingers tangled deep into her hair and yanked her violently down. Her knees slamd into the wooden floor, and the pain barely had ti to register before the man’s foot connected squarely with her stomach.

A brutal, crushing kick.

Her body folded over, a choking sound escaping her as the air was knocked clean out of her lungs. She collapsed, coughing violently, eyes wide as white-hot pain blood across her midsection. She gasped and tried to crawl away, but her limbs felt too slow, too weak. Her head spun wildly, and her stomach heaved in protest.

Through the ringing in her ears, she heard the second man’s voice, light and amused. "Found your kitchen, lady. Slls damn good in here too."

She forced her blurry gaze to follow him as he casually strolled into her kitchen, as if he owned the place, opening drawers and clinking around with tal utensils like he was looking for a snack.

The sound made her sick.

But worse was the presence beside her—the man she had slapped earlier. He crouched down slowly next to her on the floor, his knees creaking, a disgusting grin creeping across his bruised face. She could barely focus, but the look in his eyes made her blood turn cold.

"No one’s coming to rescue you, lady," he whispered, leering at her as his hand reached out. "You’re gonna be all mine now... Ohh, it’s been so long since I’ve had a woman this pretty."

His filthy fingers grazed her cheek, sending a wave of revulsion through her. The touch felt like fire, like poison.

Lin Jinju mustered what strength she had left and slapped his hand away, her breath wheezing in ragged gasps. "Don’t... touch ..." she rasped, coughing again, and this ti, a trickle of blood bubbled up from her lips. It dripped down her chin, staining her blouse.

But the man wasn’t deterred.

If anything, her resistance made his expression darker.

"Fucking bitch dares to hurt ," he hissed, grabbing a fistful of her blouse and dragging her up roughly. The fabric strained and tore as he yanked her closer, his breath reeking of sweat and rot. "I’ll make you regret it!"

His hand went for her shirt again, yanking at the buttons, the cloth ripping in his grasp as she struggled to twist away—still too dazed, too weak to break free.

Fear surged in her chest like a rising tide.

She wanted to scream, but her voice barely ca out.

She wanted to fight, but her body was failing.

She needed help—

Soone. Anyone.

But the only thing she could do now was survive the next mont.
