"Here, eat this," his mum fed him a piece of apple. "What kind of bad luck did you pick up? It was just a few days ago that you left the hospital, and here you are again," she grumbled as she took the seeds off another apple slice.

"I don’t know. It’s a misfortune nad Muchen," he grumbled.

An apple hovered right into his mouth forcefully. "Who asked you to jump in front of a bullet, huh? It’s not our problem to save others."

"He was the one who pulled into the car. I was just minding my own business," he rolled his eyes at her.

"Don’t you dare roll your eyes at ," a heavy pinch was the punishnt he got.

Sighing, Yunfeng gazed at her with a pout. "Your son is already wounded, and now you are doing so much damage to my precious body."

"Then make sure to keep your precious body safe!" his mum softly pinched his cheeks. "Do you know how worried I was when I got that call? I literally had to fight to get a cab here."

Yunfeng frowned. "I’m sorry."

"It’s not your fault. Just eat and regain your strength. We’ll be back ho in no ti."

Yunfeng gazed at his mum. She had black circles around her eyes from all the exhaustion. "You have to sleep well..."

This ti it was she who rolled her eyes at him. "I’m sleeping well, kid." She handed him the plate of apples. "Eat, I’ll get so food from the canteen. Do you want sothing?"

Yunfeng thought about it for a second. "Yogurt, please."

"Hm, I’ll get it for you."

As soon as she was out of the room, Yunfeng rolled over to the side table and took the phone that was charging. He called his sister imdiately.

"You’re alive, right?"

"Yeah, what are you doing at ho? Are you safe? If you don’t feel safe staying alone, crash at your friend’s place," he whispered softly.

The other side of the line went silent for a second. "Did they swap out your brain for soone else’s?"

"Hana."

"Fine, I’ll do that. You... how is your shoulder? Does it hurt? I can’t believe you actually got shot. Anyway, do you feel better now?"

Yunfeng gazed at the cast on his hand with a frown. He could feel a slight bit of movent in his flesh. "It’ll be fine... I’ll talk to you later."

"Hm, bye."

Yunfeng cut the call and gazed at his arm with interest.

After the Tera virus, the human body evolved in a way that no one expected. They gained superhuman powers. Self-healing at a rapid speed was one of them. It was especially prominent in ogas, as their babies are literally cut open to take them out. It was an aweso evolutionary feature. But he did not expect his own body to inhibit that quality.

’It’s very weird...’

As he was thinking of this, his phone dinged. It was a call from an unknown number.

He did not pick it up.

But soon, a ssage ca from that sa number.

{’Hope you are doing well - Jai’}

He imdiately called that number. "Jai!"

"Heard you got shot? Are you okay now?"

"Hmm, I’m good." Yunfeng frowned at his cast again. The wound healed fast. If the doctors find out about this, they might keep him here and do tests on him. He visibly shuddered. "Where are you at?"

"In the sa hospital as you. But my family is not letting leave the darn room." Jai gazed at the row of bodyguards standing in his way. Sighing, he sat back on the bed. "Does it hurt? I’m sorry... I... should have been there for you."

"Jai, it’s okay. I’m fine. Because it’s just a flesh wound," Yunfeng casually whispered.

Jai let out a sigh of relief. "Good. I’ll co et you right after I deal with my bodyguard. Guys, get out of the way. I order you. What? Dad said what? Oh my god, do you guys want to throw a fist?"

His best friend’s screams beca much more hilarious to listen to.

"Aishhh, they are being difficult... wait, Yun, I’ll have to make a call to my dad."

"Don’t break any bones~" he happily cut the call and laid back down on the bed.

Lin Yunfeng idly scrolled through his phone, casually looking at the news updates. A flash of news caught his attention.

"Famous star known for brutality." Attached to it was a blurry photo of Muchen hitting soone with a rolling pin.

Many people did not notice, but Yunfeng could clearly see the gun that was kicked off to the side.

"He actually attacked the man with a rolling pin? My god, that crazy bastard! That guy had a gun!!..."

Just reading the comnts below, his frown beca much more prominent. "What the fuck is wrong with people? Don’t they see the big picture? They just see a thirty-second clip and accuse him of violence? Tsk..."

He hurriedly typed out a comnt. "That man who is apparently an innocent bystander shot at and Muchen. That was the reason Muchen had to defend himself." He even attached a picture of his bandaged shoulder.

As soon as he posted this, new comnts ca flooding in. So many comnts were cussing at him and calling him a fake. They also started to cuss at Muchen even more.

Yunfeng bit his lips anxiously. He was only trying to clear that guy’s na, but he had made the situation much worse.

He did not know what to do.

His social dia account did not have many followers, so not many targeted him. They all accused Muchen of hiring a water army and trying to create fake stories.

"Why won’t these guys believe the truth?"

"What truth?" his mum ca in right then with a small cup of yogurt and a tray of food. "Stop playing with your phone and eat." She plucked it out of his hand.

"Wait, I’m trying to prove his innocence."

Rolling her eyes, she placed it on the bedside table. "Eat before you do anything else."

Pouting, Yunfeng ate the yogurt. "Mum... I told the truth, but why won’t people believe ? Muchen is not a bad person. He was only trying to protect ."

She reached out and gently touched his cheeks. "The truth will beco true if only a group of people believe in it. Right now, no one has full information on what happened. So, they will only assu the worst. Don’t worry, the cops are already working on it. I believe they will release an official statent on their social dia platform. That will help out."

Yunfeng nuzzled against her hand. "Why can’t they believe it? Is it that hard to think positively of people?"

His mum scoffed. "Nowadays, people thrive on drama. Any small thing happens, they assu the worst and create a huge scandal around it." She disapprovingly shook her head and held out a small cup of string beans. "Want so?"

"No, I’ll have my al soon..." Pouting, Yunfeng gazed at the phone.

"I will not give you your phone back."

"Why?!"

"I don’t want you getting involved with those fans. You don’t know how crazy those people are." She took his phone and pocketed it.

Groaning, he laid back down. "What will I do to pass ti?!"

His mum switched on the small TV in the shared room. "Watch TV."

Sighing, he had to give up on the thought of defending Muchen. The TV station changed to the morning news.

"President F has officially declared war on country C. Global peace talks in shambles."

Yunfeng sat up instantly.

This President F they were talking about was quite famous. Because he was the one who first bombed the Tera virus on their country, and after that, the entire world changed. The man was known throughout the tis as the martyr of hell.

"W-what... but the war did not happen...."

He gazed at his mum doubtfully.

She too had a worried look on her face. "It’s troubling tis. Don’t worry, war will not happen."

Yunfeng confusedly looked at the TV again. The reporter was informing about the repercussions that could happen if this global war began.

"Mum, I need my phone..."

"No."

"Please, give my phone right now. I need it!" he peered into her eyes with all seriousness.

Sighing, she handed it over. "Only ten minutes."

"Thanks," he hurriedly searched up the news regarding this upcoming war. To his surprise, everything he had read in his history lessons was happening again. "Why is it happening so delayed? The war was supposed to happen in Jan 2022..."

His mum gave him a weird look.

"Wait... was it Jan or June?"

"Oh no..."

Eyes wide open, Yunfeng gazed at his mum. "War... it’s going to happen in June 2022... The Tera virus... Fuck... fuck!!!"
