Chapter 30: Chapter 28: See If I Have the Potential to Join The Demonic Sects
Celeste Grant’s gaze fell upon him, and she began to think.
’This man actually has so principles. If the Archfiend is like him, maybe joining the Demonic Sects is worth considering.’
With that thought, she spoke up. "The Exalted One, is your Bloodfiend Den still recruiting disciples? What do you think, do I have the potential to join the Demonic Sects?"
A crack appeared on Javier Sinclair’s perpetually cold expression.
He sneered, his tone sharp. "No."
’You’ve got to be kidding ! I don’t even have the potential to join the Demonic Sects?’
"Hahaha."
She chuckled.
"Can’t you pull so strings for ? I’m actually quite useful."
Javier Sinclair: "No."
’What a heartless man!’
"If you can’t, you can’t. Forget it, then."
’Worst case, I’ll just take my son and find a place to lie low for a while. After all, I’m not really anyone to him, and it’s not right to keep bothering him. My baby’s been born, and he’s even awakened his Spirit Root ahead of schedule. For , that’s already a huge win.’
’As for the baby... if Javier Sinclair wants to see him in the future, he’s always welco. I won’t stand in his way. He’s the boy’s biological father, after all, and he’s been really good to him.’
’No outsider would treat our son as well as he would. In this world where your father’s status is everything, having the leader of a Demonic Sect for a dad ans our son can do whatever he wants when he grows up.’
Javier Sinclair felt like he could read a hundred strange and baffling thoughts on her face, yet he had no idea what any of them were.
Celeste Grant was looking down at her son when the baby in her arms suddenly started to wail.
"WAAAH..."
Hearing her son’s cries, Celeste Grant murmured softly.
"What’s wrong, sweetie? Are you hungry?"
Standing by the bed, Javier Sinclair’s gaze shifted to the baby in her arms. "He had milk an hour ago. He should be hungry again by now."
Celeste Grant froze.
’He had milk? Milk?’
She instinctively glanced down at herself, then quickly raised a hand to cover her chest as she looked up at him. "What did you do? You didn’t..."
’...do what I think you did, did you?’
Seeing her reaction, Javier Sinclair understood. His gaze flickered over her for a mont before he calmly looked away.
He said with a cold expression, "Relax. What would I possibly do to you? Nerida fed him Spiritual Beast Milk."
That’s what he said, but as his gaze swept over her, an image flashed through his mind.
It was in a bamboo forest, with the night wind blowing.
She was straddling...
...his waist.
...her slender waist gripped in one of his hands, her hair spilling over his body. Under the moonlight, her face was as radiant as a peach blossom... and then the mory fractured again.
’The scenes popping into my head are getting more... scandalous each ti.’
Javier Sinclair’s gaze swept across Celeste Grant’s face. ’What in the world happened between us that night? How can I not rember?’
He suddenly felt a little warm, and inexplicably flustered. But what ca out of his mouth was, "I have no designs on you."
"Hahaha, oh, good, good! My mistake."
Realizing she’d let her imagination run wild, Celeste Grant blushed.
’So embarrassing.’
’What was I even thinking? How could my mind go there?’
’Looking at how cold he is, he really doesn’t seem like the type to try anything.’
’Does this man really not have any interest in
at all? I an, my face is genuinely beautiful. And it’s definitely not because he has... problems in that departnt. He’s perfectly normal. I already confird that for myself that night.’
’Maybe this Archfiend is just into fighting and killing. Maybe he’s simply not interested in won.’
’But on second thought...’
’...that man did seem a bit off that day. I didn’t have ti to think, I just grabbed his clothes, and now... I have a son.’
’If he’d been in his right mind that day, he probably wouldn’t have gotten involved with .’
’Oh, well! In any case, with a body and face like his, I didn’t get the short end of the stick. I’ll just consider it a one-night stand with a hot guy, on the house.’
Having co to this conclusion, she spoke up. "I get it. The Exalted One, you have no interest in . And rest assured, I have absolutely no designs on you either. I promise."
Celeste Grant stressed again.
’That should put him at ease. I’m really just here seeking his protection. I’m definitely not the type of woman who’d use a child as a ticket to marry into a powerful family.’
Before Celeste Grant could say more, Javier Sinclair’s voice cut in, his gaze dark and fixed on her.
"Celeste Grant..."
He raised a hand, then let it fall.
"...You’re really sothing else."
"Hmph. I’m leaving."
’If I stay here a second longer, I’m no better than a dog.’
With that, he flicked his sleeves and stord out.
Celeste Grant watched his tall, slender figure disappear through the doorway.
’He’s gone? Just like that?’
She cradled the baby in one arm, tapping her chin with her free hand.
’No way... he looked angry, didn’t he?’
’Thinking back, I didn’t say anything wrong, did I?’
’I just asked about joining the Demonic Sects. If the answer’s no, it’s no. What’s there to get angry about?’
’And he kept insisting he wasn’t interested in , which was basically a warning for
not to get any ideas about him. I already made my position crystal clear, so why is he still mad?’
’Was I not clear enough?’
’Sigh! The Archfiend’s mind is impossible to figure out.’
Once he was gone, Celeste Grant cooed to her son, whispering, "He’s so difficult. Maybe this is what they an by ’serving a king is like taming a tiger.’ One mont he’s fine, the next he’s angry for no reason. I have no idea what your father is thinking. Maybe it’s because he’s old, so we have a generation gap."
"Son, your dad’s so cold and unlikable. You can’t be like him when you grow up, or no girl will ever like you. You’ll be dood to be single forever."
「At the doorway.」
Javier Sinclair froze in his tracks.
’That woman! Daring to badmouth
behind my back... Is this how she’s going to raise my son?’
He felt his fists clench.
’Calm down.’
’The child can’t be without a mother.’
At that thought, his expression turned grim. A black-and-red aura swirled around him, casting a sinister chill even in the middle of the day.
"This woman... doesn’t she even listen to herself talk?"
’Old?’
’Dood to be single forever.’
’Unlikable, no girl will ever like .’
’Hmph. If no one likes , how did you end up bearing my son?’
He hadn’t gotten far...
...when he saw Nerida approaching with a bowl of chicken soup that slled richly of Spiritual Energy. She bowed slightly upon seeing him.
"Greetings, Exalted One."
Javier Sinclair: "Mm."
Nerida glanced at him.
"Are you leaving, Exalted One? Have you seen the lady? You spent all night making a crib for the Young Master. The lady must be thrilled to see how dedicated you are."
"I don’t know."
Javier Sinclair sneered.
"I’ll leave her to you."
As soon as the words left his mouth, his figure vanished, leaving only a wisp of black energy lingering in the air.
Nerida: "..."
’That tone of his is not right!’
Nerida stood frozen in place.
’Strange... I feel like the Exalted One is just radiating black energy, along with that "keep your distance" chill. I could feel it from a mile away.’
’Is he angry?’
’He’s suddenly a father, and he’s not even happy about it?’
「Back in the room.」
The baby in Celeste Grant’s arms, who had been quiet for a mont, started crying again. "There, there, my sweet baby, don’t cry."
