Chapter 136: Chapter 134: There’s a Divine Artifact in a Place Like This?
When Javier Sinclair heard Celeste Grant say there was a Divine Artifact here, his gaze shifted to her before sweeping over their surroundings.
"A place like this could have a Divine Artifact?"
His tone was laced with skepticism.
Celeste Grant glanced at him, smiled faintly, and nodded. She pointed down with a curled finger. "It’s right here. Trust ."
Javier Sinclair raised a slight eyebrow. "Did you see this in another one of your dreams?"
Celeste Grant paused for a mont before chuckling.
"Haha, sothing like that. You could say that."
’Predicting the future? No, no, I just have the script—I’m basically cheating. Still, I guess you could call this predicting the future, right? After all, I’ve mastered the entire plot of this book.’
Thinking of her future-predicting ability, Javier Sinclair didn’t press further. "I’ll take a look at the situation," he said.
As he spoke, he released his Divine Sense, blanketing every corner of Silverstream Valley.
The place was quite large—a deep valley shaped like a ladle. The only exit was at the "handle" of the ladle. The world beyond Silverstream Valley was a dead, silent place shrouded in a poisonous miasma. Only this valley, protected by an Array, remained untouched.
Inside were fields, plots of land, and even a river. The water source trickled down from crevices in the rock faces high above the valley floor. Thanks to this water, the people here could survive for generations without ever leaving.
His Divine Sense swept over every inch of the area.
He didn’t detect the slightest hint of a Divine Artifact’s aura.
Javier Sinclair arched a brow.
’For
to not sense anything with my level of Cultivation, it either ans there’s nothing here... or the Divine Artifact is sealed. It must be the latter.’
He retracted his Divine Sense. "I couldn’t detect any aura. That tripod you ntioned must be sealed, which is why I can’t sense it."
Celeste Grant nodded slightly. "That must be it. You can take your ti to study it. We’re in no rush to leave, anyway."
Javier Sinclair nodded.
"I will obtain it."
’If it exists, I must take it.’
’Besides, now that I’ve set foot on this land, everything here belongs to my family. I’m just taking back what’s mine. Nothing wrong with that.’
Celeste Grant didn’t say anything.
’Actually, there was another way to awaken the Divine Artifact here. But I have my reservations. I’m afraid that the mont the artifact appears, it’ll just run off before I can even get my hands on it. It’s better to be cautious. If we can take it directly, that’s definitely the best option to avoid unnecessary complications.’
’According to the plot, Jocelyn Grant stumbles upon this place by accident later in the story. Gravely injured, her blood awakens the Divine Artifact, the Purple Fire Tripod. She is then teleported to a space deep underground and gains the artifact’s recognition.’
’That’s right. It’s her blood again.’
’In this case, it wasn’t an Array that needed Jocelyn Grant’s blood to be opened. It was her blood that awakened the Divine Artifact itself. That’s why I’m worried. I’m afraid the artifact might be ridiculously picky. Even if Jocelyn Grant isn’t here, it might recognize her blood as its master’s and just take off to find her. That’s why we need to handle this with extre caution.’
’Javier Sinclair’s Cultivation is imnse. An Archfiend like him, who has dominated the Cultivation World for hundreds of years without falling, must have a few unknown Secret Techniques up his sleeve. So, if we can just take it directly, that would be for the best. If that’s truly not an option, then I’ll use Jocelyn Grant’s blood as a catalyst. After all, I prepared a vial of her blood in advance just in case.’
’It feels like in so many novels, the female lead’s blood is a panacea. Not only can it heal the male lead, but her heart’s blood can also cure the male lead’s unobtainable true love. Whether it’s a chilling disease, a headache, or a heart condition, it’s a cure-all. And it’s even more powerful in Cultivation novels—triggering a Forbidden Spell, activating an Array, awakening all sorts of treasures—none of it can happen without the heroine’s blood.’
Good heavens!
’It’s really too much. Give the side characters a break, will you? Can’t the main character have *everything*?!’
The Hexed who lived here never expected that the two foreign Cultivators who had already left would actually return. They could hardly believe their eyes, but in that disbelief, they saw a glimr of hope.
For nearly two hundred years, they had been trapped. They were sick of this life, which was no different from being imprisoned. They didn’t want to stay here a mont longer. This place was a sunless pit, and they had been forced to languish in it. They had to get out.
So this ti, the people were determined. No matter what it took, they had to make Celeste Grant and her companions stay.
These people had reached a point where desperation bred villainy. Perhaps after living so long, they had started to feel a bit too confident in their own abilities.
When they saw Celeste Grant’s group appear, the people living there greeted them one by one with beaming smiles.
"You two Immortals, you didn’t leave?" ’They didn’t leave! This is good, this is great!’
Just then, their eyes fell on the little boy beside Celeste Grant.
A woman standing before Celeste Grant fixed her gaze on Aaron Sinclair, her expression one of pure affability.
She smiled and said, "What a bright and clever child. Is this your son? He looks so much like the both of you."
Aaron Sinclair shot them a wry glance. "Well, he is our biological son. Of course there’s a resemblance."
Celeste Grant, feigning ignorance of their false smiles, simply smiled back. "Yes, this is my son. This place is quite lovely. We were planning to stay for a while. I hope we won’t be a bother."
Hearing this, the smiles on the faces of The Hexed grew even wider. "Good, good! No bother at all! We couldn’t be happier to welco you."
"Co to my ho. I have spare rooms. You can stay for as long as you like."
Celeste Grant nodded slightly. "Alright, then we’ll take you up on that offer."
Seeing how easily Celeste Grant’s group had agreed, the hearts of The Hexed who lived there soared with joy.
"My ho is just a short walk away. This way, you two Immortals, please," the woman at the front said, inviting them with great enthusiasm.
’This is almost too easy.’
’So what if they’re Cultivators? A single glance tells you they’re just naive young things, completely unaware that you can’t be too careful of others. If people like this end up dead, they’ll have only themselves to bla.’
And just like that, Javier Sinclair, Celeste Grant, and their son settled down here.
They were given a room on the second floor of a wooden house, accessible by a staircase. The room was neat and tidy, with floors wiped clean.
It was clear these people had gone to great lengths to make them stay.
For the next two days, the villagers treated them with exceptional hospitality, serving them delicious food and drinks. They were likely trying to get the three of them to lower their guard.
Celeste Grant was waiting. She was curious to see just when these people planned to make their move.
After settling in, Celeste Grant kept to a small area, acting like a lazy person on vacation. It gave off the impression that she was genuinely there just to experience their way of life.
As for her son, Aaron Sinclair, he vanished as soon as they arrived, going off to cultivate sowhere. But since he was still under her watch, she felt perfectly at ease letting him do as he pleased.
Javier Sinclair, anwhile, spent those two days surveying the terrain and studying the local Array.
「That night.」
「Late at night.」
