Chapter 112: Chapter 110: Let the Winds of Barbecue Blow into the Cultivation World (Part 1)
Elder Warren waved his hand and said, "Alright. I’ll get to work planning and designing the patterns right away."
Elder Lawson nodded. "I feel like the principle behind this app is quite similar to the video calls we developed before. We can use that as our starting point and see how it goes."
According to their madam, a video call was a one-on-one connection where you could see the other person. This app, however, needed to let you see *everyone* who entered. ’It seems a bit difficult, but how could sothing like this possibly stump us? Let’s just get it done!’
「Over the next month.」
Aside from checking on the app’s progress every day, Celeste Grant kept herself and Nerida busy with another project: barbecue.
She had been craving this for a long ti.
It was ti for the winds of barbecue to sweep through the Cultivation World.
Mostly, she was just craving it herself!
Who could possibly resist the allure of barbecue? Back in her old world, tons of people would head out late at night after work just to grab so. Sotis, they’d even get it delivered right to their door and eat it before bed. Even Celeste Grant herself had to grill so up a couple of tis every few days.
With that thought, she imdiately drew up so blueprints and had the disciples from the Hall of Forging craft several barbecue grills. After that, she spent two days preparing charcoal and making her own seasonings.
Celeste Grant discovered that in this world, the raw ingredients for barbecue seasonings were actually Spirit Grass and so low-grade spiritual dicines. Most of them were used by the Hall of Apothecary to create potions or for Alchemy. However, quite a few were already used as seasonings for stir-fries.
What was most plentiful in the Cultivation World? All sorts of Demonic Beasts, and that ant at, and lots of it.
The at from Demonic Beasts was excellent quality. It would be a complete waste not to barbecue it.
She planned to let the disciples of the Bloodfiend Den have the first taste. Then, she would introduce it to the entire Cultivation World. Let the barbecue craze begin!
Before the barbecue, she had people prepare a large amount of ingredients—all different kinds of at. In a world where everyone could use Magic, dicing and skewering the at required no manual labor. A wave of the hand and a simple spell could cut and skewer it all, making it incredibly convenient and fast.
The grilling itself, however, required control over the heat, so soone had to do it by hand. Of course, you could also use Magic to flip the skewers, saving ti and effort. ’Cultivation is so great!’ she thought once again.
「That afternoon.」
In the plaza not far from the entrance of the Bloodfiend Den’s main hall, seven or eight barbecue grills were set up, the charcoal within them burning brightly. This wasn’t ordinary charcoal; it was made from the Spirit Wood found in a volcanic crater. This type of charcoal was perfect for grilling.
Nearby, a large table seven or eight ters long was laden with several types of Demonic Beast at, all of it already processed, cut into small pieces, and skewered.
"Mother, what kind of dish is this?"
"It looks so strange."
Celeste Grant’s son stood beside her, his face filled with curiosity.
Celeste Grant smiled. "You’ll find out in a minute. I guarantee you’ll be drooling. It’s the kind of amazingly fragrant, incredibly delicious food that you’ll keep wanting more of."
Hearing this, it wasn’t just young Aaron Sinclair; even Nerida and the others with Celeste Grant wore looks of eager anticipation.
’What kind of delicious food is this that we’ve never had before? We’ve certainly never seen this thod of cooking.’
Seeing that the charcoal in the grills was just about ready, Celeste Grant prepared to start cooking.
She waved her hand.
Rows and rows of skewered at flew up and landed on the grills. The mont the at touched the heat, it let out a SIZZLE.
However, the flas looked a little high, so to keep the at from getting scorched, she adjusted the heat.
"This is called barbecue."
"Grilling requires low heat for a slow roast. If you want high-quality ingredients to taste delicious, you have to be patient. Today, we’ve prepared at for everyone to taste. But you can actually barbecue anything—vegetables, Spirit Grass, you na it. As long as it won’t kill you, you can brush on so oil, throw it on the grill, and eat up."
At this, she thought of how many people in the Demonic Sects dealt with poisons year-round and had no fear of them. So she added, "And for those cultivators who aren’t afraid of poison and want to try sothing different, you could even grill centipedes, poisonous spiders, and the like. Basically, if you can think of it, you can grill it."
Anything and everything can be barbecued.
SIZZLE... The at sizzled away, and soon a fragrant aroma began to waft through the air.
Celeste Grant waved her hand, using Magic to neatly flip all the skewers on the grills.
Soon, the disciples of the Bloodfiend Den were drawn over by the aroma. Without Celeste Grant even needing to call for them, they began gathering in the plaza.
They all stared in Celeste Grant’s direction, their faces etched with curiosity.
They gathered in small groups, murmuring to one another.
"It slls amazing."
"The Madam is grilling at."
"That’s demon beast at. I recognize that one—it’s from a Gale-Giant Sheep. And that’s from a Sky-Bull."
"It looks really delicious."
They had grilled at before when they were out on missions, but that was just a matter of building a simple fire and cooking the at until it was done. Disciples who cultivated Fire Techniques could even start a fire with their bare hands to cook it, but it never tasted very good.
That was why they had never seen the Madam cook barbecue like this.
As everyone watched, the at on the grills was already sizzling and dripping with fat.
The aroma of the barbecue grew more and more intense.
Celeste Grant cast a spell, continuously flipping the skewers until the at was golden brown and glistening with fat.
Now was the mont. With a wave of her hand, the jars and containers she had prepared beforehand flew into the air, dusting the at with Sichuan peppercorn powder, cumin, and chili powder. A rich, spiced aroma instantly billowed out.
"Whoa..."
"It slls amazing!"
Soone could already feel themselves starting to drool without realizing it.
"You’re drooling."
"Nonsense, Blackie! As if! I’m not the kind of guy who drools over a little food."
"You’re not? Then maybe you should wipe away that drool first."
Many of the disciples couldn’t help but gulp.
It just slled too good.
’You can eat barbecue like this?’
"That’s it, I can’t take it anymore!"
Soone raised their hand.
"Madam, can I have a skewer? It just slls too amazing!"
" too!"
"Madam, I’ll have a skewer!"
"I want to taste it, too!"
The sll was simply irresistible.
Celeste Grant smiled.
’Just as I thought.’
’No matter the world, no one can refuse barbecue. It’s such a simple, primal way of eating. Who could possibly say no?’
Celeste Grant waved at them.
"There’s enough for everyone! This is a new dish we’re rolling out, and today is all about letting you all have a free taste to see how you like it."
Once they were grilled to perfection, Celeste Grant waved her hand. The finished skewers flew up and landed in the disciples’ hands.
The disciples who received the skewers imdiately took a big bite.
And instantly, their eyes lit up.
"This... This is amazing!"
