Chapter 824: 824
Li Hongyuan didn’t quite agree, “Now’s not a wise ti to help her win favour. Don’t forget her status.”
“I won’t forget.”
“What if…”
“Can a woman really change the Emperor’s decision?”
“Of course not.”
“So what are you worried about?” Jiang Ning calmly asked.
Li Hongyuan said nothing.
They walked side by side in silence.
Fearing to jostle Lingzi, Li Hongyuan walked slowly. Jiang Ning, not wanting to walk ahead alone, had no choice but to leisurely follow him.
The weather was warm, it felt like a stroll.
“Will you co to the selection tomorrow?” Jiang Ning suddenly asked.
“No. I’d rather spend my ti with the children.” Li Hongyuan’s voice was indifferent, “I am not Emperor Father; I don’t have much interest in won.”
“That I believe.”
“Why?” Li Hongyuan looked back at her.
“We have a great beauty right here in the East Palace, and Concubine Ya is almost pregnant. But you, Your Highness, haven’t visited Jin Liangyuan’s room since she arrived. I have to applaud your self-restraint.” Jiang Ning gave him a thumbs up.
Li Hongyuan said coldly, “I am not a saint. Where do you think these two children ca from then? What’s the purpose of the contraceptive soup you ask for ti and again?”
Jiang Ning was speechless.
Li Hongyuan casually said, “Maybe it’s because I have yet to win your heart. It’s why I find it hard to be interested in other won.”
“You an, the day I fall in love with you would be the day I lose your favour?”
“Would you fall in love with ?” Li Hongyuan asked nonchalantly.
“Of course. I am already in love with you.” Jiang Ning answered earnestly.
Li Hongyuan responded with a low hum.
“You don’t believe ?” Jiang Ning heard.
“Do you believe in yourself?”
“Of course, I believe in myself.” Jiang Ning was surprised, “I don’t understand why you don’t trust . What have I done for our trust to collapse?”
Li Hongyuan answered, “Because you are always insincere.”
“If you don’t believe , so be it.”
“The day you truly love , I’ll know it even if you don’t say it,” Li Hongyuan smiled seeing her upset, “Because it’s impossible to disguise true love.”
He placed a gentle kiss on Lingzi’s soft cheek, “Just as I love Lingzi.”
Jiang Ning watched their departing backs, lost in thought.
After dinner, Wenxi said, “The Emperor is staying at Starlight Palace tonight, and the ladies of the Harem are all abuzz.”
Jiang Ning, who was arranging the children’s clothes, asked, “How is Concubine Ya’s health? Can she serve the Emperor?”
“I heard she’s fine but needs to rest for a while. The Emperor staying there does not necessarily an Concubine Ya will serve him,” Wenxi answered with a smile.
“You have a point.” Jiang Ning handed the neatly folded clothes to Chunlai, stood up, stretched, and told Huang Ying, “It’s getting late, let’s wash up and get to bed.”
Huang Ying responded, “Did you forget, Master? The Crown Prince said he would co tonight. We must wait for him.”
“Who knows when he’ll co? If he only turns up after midnight, are we supposed to stay up and wait? Would that not be too foolish?”
Huang Ying thought about it and agreed. On several occasions, the Crown Prince had turned up in the middle of the night so quietly that it had startled them the next morning.
