Chapter 843: Chapter 831: Warmth and Care
After pondering for a mont, Qiao Jing got up from the sofa and walked towards the kitchen.
Seeing this, Su Manhan called out to her with so confusion, “Hey, what are you going to the kitchen for?”
After asking, without waiting for Qiao Jing to respond, Su Manhan speculated on her own, “Are you hungry? Whatever you want to eat, just let soone bring it over, no need to go yourself.”
Although they had just finished dinner not long ago and had eaten so fruit, Su Manhan naturally assud that Qiao Jing was suddenly going to the kitchen because she was hungry, considering that pregnant won tend to eat more.
Zhan Nanjing heard Su Manhan’s words and imdiately let out a “pfft” laugh.
“Mom, listen to yourself. Sure, pregnant won eat more, but how long has it been since dinner? How could she be hungry so quickly? What are you taking my sister-in-law for? A pig?”
Su Manhan glared at Zhan Nanjing and said annoyed, “You silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about? I think you’re the one like a pig!”
Watching the mother and daughter bickering, Qiao Jing found it amusing.
After a pause, she explained with a light smile, “Isn’t Qipei still not having eaten? I’m going to get him sothing to eat.”
Su Manhan wanted to stop her at first because Qiao Jing’s due date was only about ten days away, and she didn’t want Qiao Jing to do anything.
But after thinking about how earlier attempts to send food had resulted in her son kicking them out, and he hadn’t eaten a bite yet.
If Qiao Jing went, her son would surely pause his work and eat sothing!
With this thought, Su Manhan changed her mind and did not stop Qiao Jing, only exhorting, “Let the servants carry it over; you shouldn’t handle it. You have more than a week to go until the baby is due, so you need to be careful with everything.”
“Alright.” Qiao Jing nodded and walked away slowly.
After having soone take the food up, she led the way to the study.
In the study, Zhan Qipei was sitting at the desk handling docunts.
Upon hearing the door open, he didn’t even lift his head, saying sternly, “I said I won’t eat, so why are you still coming? Don’t you understand human language?”
From his tone, it was clear that he was sowhat annoyed.
This just confird Qiao Jing’s earlier guess.
She was right, Wu Xirui did cause quite a hassle.
Qiao Jing raised an eyebrow slightly, gesturing for the servant to bring the food in. She also stepped into the study, saying, “It’s .”
Hearing her voice, Zhan Qipei paused in flipping through the docunts and quickly lifted his head.
The mont his gaze fell on Qiao Jing, the irritation between his brows instantly dissipated, and his previously gloomy expression turned mild.
After the servant set down the food, they tactfully retreated.
Qiao Jing glanced over the piles of docunts stacked high on the desk, and said with a slight press of her lips, “Take a break and eat sothing first, so you won’t weaken yourself because of hunger.”
Zhan Qipei disliked being disturbed when working, so he had directly chased away the previous people who brought him als.
But with Qiao Jing standing in front of him, his attitude was completely different.
Because, in his heart, nothing is more important than Qiao Jing!
He imdiately stood up from the desk, walked to Qiao Jing, helped her sit on the nearby sofa, and said gently, “You sit, don’t tire yourself, I’ll eat imdiately.”
With that, Zhan Qipei fetched the food and began eating beside Qiao Jing.
He was indeed hungry, but things weren’t settled, so he didn’t feel like eating.
But now his wife personally brought him dinner, so his appetite returned, and he ate with relish, finishing quickly.
Seeing him put down the bowl and chopsticks, Qiao Jing casually asked, “Is it enough? If not, I’ll have soone bring more.”
“No need, it’s enough.”
After responding, Zhan Qipei took Qiao Jing’s hand and said softly, “I still have so files to go through. It’s getting late; you should head back to the bedroom and rest. I’ll co to join you as soon as I finish up.”
“Okay.” Qiao Jing nodded, getting up from the sofa.
Before stepping out of the study, she turned to look at Zhan Qipei, who had already returned to the desk to pick up the files, and reminded him, “Don’t stay up too late. Business is important, but your health is more important. If you ruin your health, it won’t be worth it.”
Hearing Qiao Jing’s words of concern, Zhan Qipei couldn’t help but smile slightly, “Got it, don’t worry. I know what I’m doing.”
He wouldn’t let anything happen to himself, because he still needed to look after his wife and the three soon-to-be-born children!
Qiao Jing returned to the bedroom and had just sat down by the bed when her phone suddenly beeped.
She picked it up to see that it was a ssage from Wu Xirui, asking for a doctor’s visit, saying his myocardial ischemia symptoms seed worse than before, and asked her to co take a look.
Perhaps fearing she wouldn’t co, Wu Xirui sent another ssage.
The ssage read: I know, despite the conflicts between and the Zhan Family, you will keep your promise to . You won’t go back on your word, right?
After reading the ssage, Qiao Jing’s expression didn’t change much, but she couldn’t help but chuckle lightly.
This Wu Xirui really had the nerve to cause trouble for her man and still ask her for dical help?
However, Wu Xirui was right about one thing. Since she promised to treat him, she wouldn’t go back on her word.
So even though Zhan Qipei and Wu Xirui were fiercely competing in business, she would still make a visit.
The next afternoon, when everyone else was out of the house, Qiao Jing quietly slipped out and took a car to Wu Xirui’s company.
As she approached Wu Xirui’s office, she heard a vicious roar from inside, “Trash!”
Imdiately followed by a loud “bang.”
Qiao Jing paused her steps, stopping a few paces from the office door, and tilted her head to peek inside.
She saw Wu Xirui standing in front of the desk, his face dark and nacing, radiating fury.
Not far from his feet lay a man on the floor.
The man clutched his stomach, appearing in great pain.
Watching this scene, Qiao Jing could guess what the sound earlier had been.
Likely it was the sound made by Wu Xirui kicking the man to the ground.
This was actually the first ti she had seen Wu Xirui so enraged.
Wu Xirui now looked like an Asura from Hell, seeming ready to devour a person whole!
At this mont, the man, enduring the pain in his abdon, struggled up from the floor, knelt at Wu Xirui’s feet, and begged for rcy relentlessly, “Fifth Master, please, give another chance, please…”
The man kowtowed fiercely, each knock heavy against the floor, soon causing his forehead to bleed.
However, Wu Xirui was unmoved, impatiently spitting out a single cold word, “Scram!”
