Chapter 575: Chapter 564: Zhan Qipei’s Reluctance to Part with Qiao Jing

At dusk, Qiao Jing put on her mask after dinner, ready to visit a patient at their ho.

She had not yet reached the foyer when Zhan Qipei called out to her.

“Where are you going? I’ll co with you.”

Zhan Qipei, seeing Qiao Jing getting ready to leave, imdiately stood up and approached her, his expression tense:

He was not at all comfortable letting Qiao Jing go out alone at night, especially since the woman was still injured.

In case she encountered trouble outside, Qiao Jing’s shoulder hadn’t fully healed, and her movents wouldn’t be as convenient.

As her husband, he needed to accompany her.

Qiao Jing rolled her eyes, sowhat speechless, and glanced sideways at the clock on the wall.

“I’m going to see a patient, and you want to co too?”

If they left ho now, the timing would be just right, but if she chatted with Zhan Qipei here for half a day, it would definitely delay her.

Not wanting to deal with Zhan Qipei, she opened the door.

After hearing Qiao Jing’s words, Zhan Qipei furrowed his brows deeply as they seed to loom like mountains through the mist.

“I’ll take you there.”

He needed to see for himself that Qiao Jing arrived safely before he could be at ease.

The corners of Qiao Jing’s mouth twitched uncontrollably, and she gave Zhan Qipei an annoyed glance.

“Are you treating like a child? Do you have to follow wherever I go? Besides, I’ve already called a taxi.”

She was just slightly injured, but Zhan Qipei always made a big deal out of it every ti.

Although she understood that Zhan Qipei was worried about her, having him follow her every ti she went out was just too much.

However, upon reflection…

It seed that even when Zhan Qipei didn’t have anything particular to do, he still wanted to accompany her whenever she went out.

Zhan Qipei pursed his thin lips, his dark eyes flickering with a tinge of possessiveness filled with concern.

“I’m worried about you.”

Qiao Jing rubbed her temples helplessly and walked to the staircase.

“I’m just going to treat soone, not doing anything dangerous. You go about your business.”

After dropping that statent, she raised her hand and was about to shut the front door completely when Zhan Qipei pushed against it, showing no intention of forcing it open.

Before Qiao Jing could ponder over his actions, his deep magnetic voice ca through.

“Co back early.”

After saying this, Zhan Qipei imdiately closed the door, leaving no chance for her to respond.

Qiao Jing stood stunned for a mont, and by the ti she ca to her senses, the door had already closed.

Staring at the tightly shut door in front of her, she could still seemingly hear his recent words, “Co back early.”

Although she hadn’t seen Zhan Qipei’s expression just now, the handso face that matched his voice automatically appeared in her mind.

Behind the door, Zhan Qipei’s face was likely furrowed, his dark eyes steady, his thin lips tightly pressed.

It gave her the feeling that Zhan Qipei was like an abandoned stray dog—what was going on with that?

Qiao Jing shook her head and thought no further, heading to the residence of the patient.

anwhile, inside Purple Garden,

Su Manhan and others had just finished dinner and were each doing their own thing.

Su Manhan was sitting on the sofa, sending a ssage to Qiao Jing.

“Qiao Jing, have you had dinner yet? Did Qipei make you the tonic I brought over the other day?”

At that mont, Qiao Jing was in a taxi, her phone ringing. She took it out to look.

“I’ve eaten, and it was made for to drink, Madam Zhan, you don’t have to worry.”

Su Manhan displayed three “good” emojis.

“That’s great, that’s great. Oh, by the way, what are you doing right now? Are you busy?”

“If you’re not busy, how about I pick you up for so shopping? It’s been a long ti since we went shopping together.”

Qiao Jing glanced at the scenery outside the car and slightly frowned.

“I’m sorry, Madam Zhan, I’m a bit tied up with sothing. I’ll accompany you shopping another ti.”

She had just replied when she received a ssage from Zhan Nanqing.

“Qiao Jing, how is your injury? I saw you were upset this morning because I was slacking off, so I didn’t dare to ask you.”

Qiao Jing’s pale fingers typed rapidly on her phone keyboard.

“It’s nothing serious.”

No sooner had she replied to Zhan Nanqing than Su Manhan sent another ssage.

Qiao Jing swiftly switched to Su Manhan’s chat window and saw the new ssage.

“What are you busy with? You’d better not tell you’re busy with housework at ho. If Qipei dares to let you do housework, I’m driving over right now to hit him!”

Upon reading this ssage, a helpless smile appeared on Qiao Jing’s face.

“Madam Zhan, you’ve misunderstood; I don’t have to do any housework. I’m not at ho right now; I need to go to the hospital to treat a patient.”

After reading this ssage, Su Manhan finally rembered that Qiao Jing also had another identity as a doctor at the hospital.

“I see, that’s okay then. But why do you have to go to the hospital late at night?”

“Doesn’t the research institute close at four in the afternoon? Aren’t there other specialists at the hospital? Why do they need a general doctor like you??”

Qiao Jing pursed her red lips and thought to herself:

Because she had been busy at the research institute in the morning and because she was Professor Qiao’s daughter, she sotis stayed late in the afternoon to work a bit longer.

As for the latter question, she wasn’t actually going to the hospital to treat patients.

She didn’t forget to reply to Su Manhan, making up an excuse.

“The patient’s illness happens to be my specialty, and the other specialists are busy. I’m free, so I’m heading over.”

Su Manhan finally gave up the idea of asking Qiao Jing to go shopping and was about to put away her phone when she saw Zhan Yao looking solemn, hurrying outside.

She furrowed her brows and called him with a displeased tone.

“Where are you going this late at night? You never used to go out at night; don’t tell you have so little affair outside!”

Zhan Yao imdiately stopped, looking helplessly at Su Manhan.

“Don’t overthink it, I’m just going to Director Chen’s house.”

After hearing Zhan Yao’s words, Su Manhan stared blankly for a mont.

“Director Chen? Wasn’t his father seriously ill and recuperating at ho? Isn’t it inappropriate to visit soone’s ho at this hour? Even if you two are really good friends, that’s not okay.”

Zhan Yao hesitated for a while but eventually did not tell the truth.

“Old Chen himself called over, said he wanted to ask sothing. I’ll also take the opportunity to visit Old Chen’s father. If you don’t believe , you can call Old Chen and ask.”

He couldn’t possibly reveal the real reason for his visit to the Chen Family; otherwise, his wife would definitely want to co with him. With her personality, she would persistently interfere, which could severely upset Divine Doctor Jing if he got annoyed.

Old Chen had particularly instructed him, as the Chen Family had gone to great lengths and through several difficulties to invite Divine Doctor Jing to treat the illness, which must not be casually disclosed.

Old Chen had told him because he rembered Qipei’s infertility issues, suggesting he might try to request Divine Doctor Jing for treatnt.

Su Manhan snorted, pulled out her phone, and called Director Chen.

“Go ahead, call. If you ss around, see if I don’t break your legs.”

Director Chen quickly answered the call and explained the situation, then Su Manhan let Zhan Yao leave.

However… sothing seed too coincidental to her.

Because Qiao Jing also happened to be going out to treat a patient at that ti, and Zhan Yao happened to be visiting Director Chen’s sick father at the sa ti.

Could the patient Qiao Jing was seeing be Director Chen’s father?
