It was the second ti in as many days that a woman had called him dangerous, first
Lyriel, with her devilish hum that sent a chill down his spine, and now Inolda, with her sharp, teasing jabs that carried an effortless bite.
The fact that both had used the sa word, in such different ways, struck him in an unexpected way.
He couldn’t help but enjoy the pattern, the sensation of being sothing more than just the ordinary new kid in town.
"I’m not dangerous at all," he shot back, his words laced with mock innocence as he shook his head, a chuckle escaping him.
"I’m very safe, actually." His tone remained light, a playful air to it, but beneath that easy smile, there was a subtle challenge, a spark he couldn’t quite resist fanning.
It was as if he were daring her to push back, to test his limits, to see if his calm exterior truly matched the chaos that swirled beneath it.
His eyes twinkled with mischief, and he couldn’t help but enjoy the dance of words between them, each comnt and counter a way to keep her attention locked firmly on him.
Inolda arched a brow, her lips curling into an almost predatory smile.
She leaned in closer, the space between them shrinking with every inch, as if testing how far she could push him.
Her lashes fluttered in exaggerated slow motion, and her voice dipped into a teasing, sultry purr.
"How safe?" she asked, the words dripping with an unspoken challenge, her eyes locking onto his with a daring intensity, as if she were daring him to dive deeper into the playful ga they’d begun.
There was sothing almost dangerous in her calm, steady gaze, a spark of mischief that made the air feel thick with anticipation.
Alex could feel the heat of her presence, the way she toyed with him, and it stirred sothing inside him, a desire to keep up, to match her every move, to prove that he could handle whatever she threw his way.
He matched her energy effortlessly, stepping in closer, the distance between them practically nonexistent now.
His grin stretched wider, teasing, yet laced with a touch of challenge as he looked down at her, his voice smooth but confident.
"You’d have to co find out for yourself," he replied, his words purposeful, as if testing how far she was willing to push this ga.
The gravel beneath his boots crunched with a soft shift as he subtly adjusted his stance, a small movent that seed to echo his readiness, his willingness to play along and maybe even take things a step further.
His gaze never left hers, a silent dare lingering in the air. The space between them seed charged,
She erupted into laughter, a sound so bright and unrestrained that it seed to fill the air, echoing around them like the ringing of bells.
It was a laugh that caught him off guard, light, genuine, and sohow infectious.
"Very on brand," she said, her tone still teasing but with an undercurrent of approval, as if she had just marked him with so silent stamp of approval.
She shook her head, her pink curls bouncing with the motion, the sunlight catching on the strands and making them shimr like cotton candy in a breeze.
Alex couldn’t help but feel a quiet thrill at the way their banter flowed so easily, the playful tension between them now feeling almost comfortable,
By the ti they reached the animal side, the atmosphere had shifted.
The air was thick with the heavy, earthy scent of fur, straw, and the unmistakable musk of animals, a stark contrast to the fresh, floral notes of the garden they’d just left behind.
The ground underfoot felt softer, the gravel replaced by a mix of dirt and hay that crunched beneath their boots with every step.
The sound of soft bleating and low animal calls filled the space, blending with the rustle of hay and the occasional clink of tal as animals shuffled in their pens.
Ahead, Jusin’s broad figure stood like a silent sentinel in the midst of it all, his back turned to them as he worked.
His movents were purposeful, steady, and strong, handling the animals with a practiced ease that spoke of years of familiarity.
He seed oblivious to their approach, fully imrsed in his task.
His brown hair, damp from the work, clung to the back of his neck, and the sunlight cast long shadows across his muscular fra as he bent down to adjust a wooden trough.
The crunch of straw underfoot announced their arrival as Alex and Inolda approached the animal side of Elaris Hold.
Jusin turned, his broad fra dusted with hay, a grin splitting his bearded face as he spotted them. "There you are, Alex," he called, wiping his hands on his mud-streaked tunic.
The air was thick with the scent of fur and damp earth, alive with soft snorts and rustling.
"Co and see so of the locals." He said and gestured Alex closer, leading him toward a row of enclosures where creatures native to the elven world stirred.
First, Jusin pointed to a pen where a cluster of deer-like animals grazed.
Their coats shimred faintly, a silvery sheen over dappled brown, and their antlers branched in delicate, spiraling patterns, unlike the blunt prongs of human deer.
"These are spiralharts," Jusin said, his voice warm with pride. "Quiet things, but they sing at dusk, sounds like glass chiming."
Nearby, a pair of fox-like creatures darted, their bushy tails split into two distinct tips, each tipped with a soft glow.
"Twinlights," Jusin nad them. "They hunt in pairs, you need to see how they light up the woods at night."
As he talked Alex couldn’t help but note how happy Jusin was to be near these animals, his voice was inflected with pride.
Then he led Alex to a sturdy wooden fence enclosing two horses, their coats a deep chestnut, muscles rippling under the afternoon sun.
Each bore two slender horns curving back from their foreheads, glinting like polished bone.
"These are two-horned horses," Jusin said, handing Alex a sack of grain. "Go on, feed ’em. They’re gentle enough."
