Dong Xuebing was quite the jerk.
This was sothing everyone knew.
Dong Xuebing could have changed his attitude when facing the Provincial Disciplinary Committee mbers. It wasn’t that he couldn’t be polite or show respect for the higher-up enforcent agencies, but Dong Xuebing didn’t want to do that. His temper was just that bad. He had already sensed the provincial attitude toward him before taking office. The city didn’t like him, and the province didn’t like him either. They probably couldn’t wait for him to leave. You could tell this from the upcoming news reports; this ti, the province’s main target for the knife was Jiaolin County, or rather, Dong Xuebing himself. He had been suspended for investigation, and the weight of this as a county party secretary was obvious. Such an investigation could almost end his political career. But the province still decided to proceed with this, which spoke volus. They didn’t care about him or his situation, so how could Dong Xuebing be polite to them?

One of the Provincial Disciplinary Committee mbers asked, “Director Cheng, who is this guy?”
Cheng Wei answered with a serious face, “He used to be a cadre in the Central Disciplinary Committee. I heard he had a notorious temper back then, even daring to yell at leaders. Looks like it’s true.”
Another disciplinary committee mber remarked, “Isn’t he just asking for trouble?”
A different cadre comnted, “Right? The investigation team has been established, and they still dare to move in now. I don’t know what the county party secretary is thinking.”
Cheng Wei replied, “Don’t let him throw us off track. Stick to the plan. Stay sharp and make sure we get everything on record.”

anwhile, in Dong Xuebing's car.
ng Hani, Chang Lin, Sun Changzhi, and the other leaders were all in this car.
Sun Changzhi, the head of the publicity departnt, was extrely worried. “Secretary, why are you still letting them move in? This isn’t… sigh, what should we do?”
Dong Xuebing responded indifferently, “You’ll know soon.”
ng Hani and Chang Lin exchanged surprised glances. What did he an? Did Secretary Dong already have so strategy in mind? But it shouldn’t be possible. The evidence was right there, and they couldn’t move it. With the province set on investigating them, how could they escape now? ng Hani and the others couldn’t figure out why Dong Xuebing remained so calm. As long as the new county party compound was there, and as long as the province had decided to investigate them, they wouldn’t be able to get away with it.
Up ahead, they reached the new district of Jiaolin County.
However, when the trucks ahead started heading west, Dong Xuebing imdiately called ahead. “Not this direction. Tell them to stop. My car will lead the way.”
He then told the driver, Xiao Wang, “Xiao Wang, take the southern entrance. Right, turn here and pass them. We’ll lead the way.”
This command left many people confused.
Xiao Wang was also puzzled. "Secretary, the new county party compound is not here. If we go this way, won't we be..."
Dong Xuebing cut him off. "Just follow my instructions. Go straight ahead. Yes, we’ll turn right in a bit."

Dong Xuebing left the car confidently and looked toward a small gate. The people from Jiaolin County, also full of question marks, got out of the cars.
"What is this place?"
"Uh, I don’t know?"
"Isn’t the new county party compound on that street?"
Everyone started whispering; none of them understood what was going on. They hadn’t expected Secretary Dong to bring them here. Now that they thought about it, Dong Xuebing had always said they were moving, but he had never said where they were going to move to.
Zhang Dongfang and the others arrived, and Cheng Wei and the provincial investigation team mbers looked around, equally confused and unsure of what was happening.
At that mont, soone walked out from the small gate—it was Dong Xuebing’s secretary, Su Yan. As soon as Su Yan saw everyone, he hurried to Dong Xuebing. "Secretary!"
Dong Xuebing asked, "Is everything ready?"
"The contract’s signed, everything’s set," Su Yan replied.
Dong Xuebing said "Good," patting his shoulder, then turned to the others and loudly said, "Move everything in! Everything needs to go in!"
Several rows of small houses were now visible inside. They were in terrible condition, looking like temporary housing on a construction site for workers.
Zhang Dongfang widened his eyes, "Here?"
Dong Xuebing replied matter-of-factly, "Yes."
Cheng Wei’s face darkened. "You’re fooling us, right? This is your new county party compound?"
Dong Xuebing looked at him like he was crazy. "Of course. Where else do you think our new compound is? It’s right here. I had Xiao Su rent this place under the county’s na. The conditions are tough, but we won’t work here forever. We’ve already decided to renovate the old county compound. Once that’s done, we’ll move back there. Director Cheng, what’s the problem? Is there an issue?"
Cheng Wei felt like he’d been played. He angrily pulled out a few photos of their grand palace-like compound. "I’m talking about the new county party compound exposed by the provincial TV station!"
Dong Xuebing feigned ignorance. "What new compound? I don’t know anything about that."
Cheng Wei slamd the photos in front of him. "Don’t play dumb with us!"
Dong Xuebing glanced at the photos and said, "Oh, you’re talking about this place? Hah, I thought you all made such a fuss for sothing more important."
Dong Xuebing’s way of speaking was genuinely infuriating!
