After seeing the news on the holographic billboard, Lethia felt her patience snap. Deal or no deal, even if she had to sell her soul, she would do whatever it took to protect her child, reclaim what was rightfully hers, and make those who toyed with her life regret ever crossing her.

The fox grinned, its three tails swaying eagerly.

"Looks like my effort to fend off other spirits and protect your baby is finally paying off," it said, its expression laced with intent. "Do you even realize how intoxicating the scent of your blood was that night? It drew all kinds of spirits, each one desperate to take over your body."

Lethia frowned. "What do you an?"

"I don't know why, but living inside you and sharing energy with your baby feels... different. Comfortable, even. Your scent is far too sweet, too tempting—it fuels my excitent."

The fox humd, eyes gleaming. "Most wolfless I've possessed before were plain, and so ordinary. But you—" It grinned wider. "You're different."

"You only possess wolfless?"

The fox chuckled. "And you're sharp, too. I like that. Long before doomsday, we spirit foxes always sought out humans. But these days, humans are weak-hearted things, so werewolves make the best hosts. Their primal instincts make the process easier. The only problem is if they still have their wolf. That's a pain for us. We're like fire and water, incompatible." It tilted its head. "So yes, wolfless creatures are our favorites to possess."

Lethia lowered her gaze, deep in thought.

"In stories, don't fox spirits eat human hearts?" She looked up, her voice steady. "Will you eat mine?"

The fox's laughter rang out, leaving Lethia bewildered.

"I would," it mused, "but not in the literal sense. I am a spirit, I feed on spirit energy through my beads. And the strongest source is a mate bond."

"Mate bond?" she asked warily.

The fox humd, its three tails flicking lazily. "Werewolf mate bonds are magical. The energy they release during mating is intoxicatingly sweet and potent. It fuels my bead, igniting its light—strong, powerful—and awakens my beautiful tails."

Lethia narrowed her eyes. "When you say mate bond, you an the mating process? The... rut? The heat?"

A smirk curled the fox's lips. "Mmm. The mont your mate knots inside you, giving his heart and his whole being."

Her eyes widened in disbelief. "So, basically, you want to have sex?"

The fox grinned smugly. "Is there another way to do a mating bond without it?"

Lethia's cheeks burned. This damned spirit—was it really trying to turn her into so kind of sex doll?

"But I'm pregnant." she retorted, her tone edged with frustration.

"That's what makes werewolves our favorites," the crimson fox purred. "Your biology is different from a human's. And don't be cocky, most she-wolves experience heightened urges during pregnancy, don't they?" Its smirk deepened. "Besides, half of the desire you felt when you kissed that sexy doctor? That was all you. I just... lent you a little power push. Your body's still too weak, after all."

"What—"

The mory of her heated kiss with Renar burned through Lethia's mind, making her cheeks flush like a slap of a warm wet towel.

Even as she scread at herself to stop kissing him, deep down, she couldn't entirely hate the way her body had moved under the lust-struck heat.

The only reason she had pushed Renar away was the sheer terror of losing complete control.

This conversation with the damn-mighty fox spirit only deepened her confusion, making her question her own sanity.

"You... are you trying to confuse ? Manipulate ?"

"Oh, dear..." The fox smirked. "You're not entirely wrong about that. I am, after all, the greatest manipulator in existence. But..." Its eyes glead with amusent. "I also know you as well as you know yourself. I live inside you, darling."

Lethia let out a bitter smile. "But there must be sothing you can't do, right? Otherwise, you would've just taken full control of my body instead of showing yourself like this."

"Ahaa... That's what I like about you. Sharp as ever." The fox's tails flicked playfully. "Yes, unfortunately, there are limits to what I can do. And your willpower, your desire, well, that matters the most to make the bead to glow beautifully."

"What if I refuse to obey?"

"Simple. I leave your body, and you die." The fox chuckled darkly. "You know... we foxes hold grudges."

A cold knot twisted in Lethia's stomach. "And if I comply? What do I get in return?"

The fox's smirk widened. "I know what you want better than you do. But an almighty being like doesn't make deals with re mortals. I will decide your reward once my needs are t."

Its annoyingly beautiful eyes glead with mischief. "I always repay my debts, and I expect you to do the sa. Believe , with my help, you'll get everything you desire... and more."

Lethia lowered her gaze, lost in thought, before letting out a dry chuckle.

It reminded her of walking into the contaminated cheese-aging room on her farm.

No matter what she chose, the cheese would inevitably mold, dood from the start, much like the situation she found herself in now.

Though she was painfully aware of how inevitable it was to be this spirit's puppet—beyond her control—she had already felt the imnse power it wielded inside her.

First with that kiss, then with the way she'd effortlessly kicked Lana aside.

And shalessly she had relished every second of it.

She wondered if this was what other werewolves felt when their wolves awakened inside them—an intoxicating, almost overwhelming surge of raw magic.

Her fingers fidgeted as she watched the fox pace restlessly, its movents uneasy, as if sensing sothing foreign.

It was the sa telltale sign most animal spirits displayed when sothing unnatural was near.

"I know you're still confused," the fox purred. "But we can learn more about each other, bit by bit. Right now, you don't have ti. That doctor will be here soon, and he is your first target for the mate bond."

Lethia stiffened, her breath catching. "Wh—what do you fucking an by that? My first what?"

"I placed my bead into him when you kissed him earlier." The fox smirked. "So, he'll feel a strong pull toward you in—"

CRASH!

["Ough... I an, now? Ha.. ha! I love how Lycans are react faster."]

The fox's image flickered and vanished, its voice retreating into the depths of Lethia's mind, leaving her reeling in confusion. A silent warning that there were bigger problems at hand.

Soone had just slamd the rooftop door open with a force that made the entire fra shudder.

Lethia spun around to see Renar storming toward her, nostrils flaring, his expression dark with fury. A stark contrast to the composed deanor he had always maintained until now.

Her pulse spiked as she instinctively backed away, but he closed the distance too fast.

His hand shot out, gripping her wrist before yanking her forward. She stumbled, crashing against his broad chest where she could feel the frantic rush of his heartbeat as well.

His other arm wrapped around her waist, possessive, unyielding, leaving no space between them.

Lethia's heart pounded so violently it felt as if it might burst. Her breath hitched as the warmth of his breath ghosted across her face.

The brown eyes locked onto hers, sharp and searching, demanding answers. A gaze that seed ready to devour her at any mont, sending a rush of needy heat pooling in her stomach.

Then, his grip tightened, his voice low, almost a growl—like a sinful lody echoing in her ears.

"Who are you really? What did you do to ?"
