Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne Chapter 70: Here to Pick Someone Up
「In the private room next door.」
Riley Perry sat at one end of the gambling table with Secretary Thorne standing behind her. A faint smile graced her lips as she casually crossed her legs, looking utterly relaxed. In front of her was a huge pile of chips, which at a glance looked to be at least twenty million.
A group of people, led by Clent Lee, sat at the other end. They also had a pile of chips on the table, worth around fifty million.
A dice shaker cup sat in the middle of the table. It was clear they were playing Sic Bo—betting on big or small.
"Are they playing for such high stakes? Tens of millions in chips right from the start," Ethan Page comnted.
Cole Sinclair crossed his legs and gave a rare order. "Tell your secretary that no matter how much Riley Perry bets, just give her the chips. Put it on my tab." The mont he saw lanie Chenning was there, he’d already had a hunch. ’I’ll never let anyone humiliate my woman.’
Julian Fuller sent a ssage to Secretary Thorne and got a reply a mont later: Miss Perry bought one million in chips with her own card. All the rest, she won from those rich kids across the table.
Julian Fuller chuckled. "Colt, looks like you were worried for nothing. Your girl is sothing else. All those chips in front of her? She won every last one of them herself."
A flicker of surprise went through Cole Sinclair. ’No wonder Clent Lee and the others looked so worked up,’ he thought. ’They’ve really lost their cool.’ With that, he felt relieved.
"Care to continue? That’s another win for !" Riley Perry said, idly toying with a chip. Her fingers were long and slender, her skin fair. The red chip spun endlessly between them as she exuded an air of utter languor.
The other rich kids at the table were ready to back out. After all, their allowances were limited. Tossing in millions without seeing any return... they weren’t idiots. They had no desire to keep handing money over to this cocky little starlet across the table.
Clent Lee silently cursed them for being useless while pushing twenty million in chips onto the table. "We continue. I’m betting on small."
’Just a mont ago, lanie had secretly told him that this Perry woman was just so no-na starlet. How much money could she possibly have? With all of them combined, they could easily intimidate her. Montum is everything in gambling. Once you build up your montum, your luck is bound to turn.’
’He refused to believe this Perry woman would dare to bet big against him!’
Riley Perry gave a triumphant smile. "Alright, then. I’ll bet on big. It’s only twenty million. Besides, it’s all house money. It won’t hurt to lose."
The rich kids collectively thought, ’This woman is just asking for a beating.’
Seeing that both sides had placed their chips, the dealer announced, "No more bets."
He waited another two seconds, and seeing that neither side was changing their bet, he opened the shaker cup. "Four, five, six... Big."
Clent Lee slamd his hand on the table in frustration. ’This is cursed! Ever since we mocked her for her terrible luck, I haven’t won a single damn round!’
As he watched his chips get pushed over to Riley Perry yet again, he saw that her stack had grown into a small mountain. Clent Lee began swearing under his breath.
Riley Perry’s hand glided over her neatly stacked piles of chips. "Still want to play?"
"We continue."
Refusing to give up, Clent Lee bet on small again, but this ti he raised the stakes, pushing in thirty million directly. Only a few hundred thousand in chips remained in front of him.
Riley Perry licked her lips, her peach-blossom eyes sparkling. ’This is great. Absolutely fantastic.’ ’I really hope all the won who like Cole Sinclair try to co after just like lanie Chenning.’ ’My original plan to teach lanie a lesson has completely vanished. She’s such a good person, a truly wonderful person.’
The ever-perceptive Secretary Thorne noticed her small gesture and brought a glass of juice over to Riley.
Riley Perry thanked Secretary Thorne, then turned to Clent Lee with an appreciative look. "Mr. Lee, you’re certainly bold. I’m in this round, too. Sticking with big."
Two minutes later, the shaker cup was opened again. "Four, five, five... Fourteen points. Big."
She had won again.
Cole Sinclair watched as the little woman won yet again, her peach-blossom eyes curving into crescent moons. ’That greedy little look of hers is kind of cute,’ he thought. ’No, it’s more than just kind of cute. It’s ridiculously cute.’
She was overjoyed, but Clent Lee looked completely dejected. Still, not wanting to lose face in front of the woman he liked, he forced a smile. "Continue. I want another fifty million in chips."
Riley Perry offered so "kind" advice. "I don’t have a problem with that, but perhaps you should reconsider? You really shouldn’t be spending on impulse. Another fifty million, and your total loss will be a hundred million. Aren’t the stakes getting a little high?"
Clent Lee’s expression was ugly—no, it was downright foul. As the second young master of the Lee Family, he’d been given a small company to run by his father several years ago. He had a decent head for business, and the company was doing reasonably well. A hundred million might be nothing to the Lee Family as a whole, but for him personally, it was a significant sum.
’But he couldn’t show weakness in front of the woman he liked. lanie’s dislike for this starlet was so obvious. If he couldn’t help her get so payback today, what kind of man would he be?’
He shot a subtle glance in lanie Chenning’s direction and saw her looking at him with an encouraging expression. He imdiately looked away and snapped impatiently at Riley, "Cut the crap. Do I look like soone who cares about a little money? Don’t tell you’re getting scared?"
Riley thought, ’Oh, I just love guys like this—so determined to throw money at , whatever the reason!’
’Besides, the kid keeps looking over at lanie Chenning. He’s obviously one of her suitors, just a clueless simp. Maybe I’m even doing him a favor today,’ she mused.
Cole Sinclair was already on his feet, heading straight for the room next door. It wasn’t that he was being petty; he was worried that if the kid got too desperate from losing, he might do sothing to Riley. He was afraid she’d be the one to get hurt.
Julian Fuller and the other two imdiately followed. When it ca to watching a good show, a front-row seat was always best.
The door to the Prosperity Room was pushed open without a sound, but those engrossed in the ga didn’t even turn their heads.
Riley Perry propped her elbows on the table, her interlaced fingers tapping restlessly. "I’ll see your bet. Fifty million it is."
The bets were placed, and the dealer opened the shaker cup. The dice inside added up to seventeen. It was big again.
And just like that, the fifty million in chips beca Riley Perry’s prize.
Clent Lee’s face was as black as ink. As for lanie Chenning, who had been trying her best to keep a low profile since entering the room, her expression was also quite a sight to behold.
But she quickly composed herself. After all, her target was Cole Sinclair, and he had just arrived.
’As for the money Clent Lee lost... people like them had no shortage of money!’
"Colt, Jared, you’re here too," she said.
Since they were all from the sa elite circles, Clent Lee and his friends followed suit, and a chorus of respectful greetings filled the air.
Julian Fuller looked at lanie Chenning. "Miss Chenning, what brings you to the casino? Planning to play a few hands?"
"I’m just here with a friend. I’m not really interested in this myself, but it’s fine to watch.
I rember Colt never gambles. What are you doing here?"
Cole Sinclair gave her an indifferent glance. "I’m here to pick soone up."
Riley Perry had already risen to her feet. She shot Cole Sinclair a sultry look, like an enchantress captivating the world. "Mr. Sinclair."
