ga Venusaur let out a deep, resonant roar as a violent storm of razor-sharp petals exploded from its flower. The battlefield beca a swirling maelstrom of pink and green, a raging tempest of nature's fury surging toward its opponent.
Even at a glance, it was clear how much effort Jack had put into training his Venusaur. The sheer density of the petals, the precision of the move's execution—these weren't things that could be improved by ga Evolution alone. Jack had honed Petal Blizzard to perfection. The Chiba Gym must have played a major role in its breeding and training.
But no matter how refined a technique was, absolute strength would decide the outco.
"Psychic!" John commanded, his voice calm and unwavering.
ga Gardevoir raised its hand gracefully before vanishing in the blink of an eye. In an instant, it reappeared behind ga Venusaur, a dark ripple of psychic energy distorting the air around it. Shadowy tendrils erupted from the ground beneath Gardevoir's feet, lashing forward with devastating force.
Jack's eyes widened, but his reaction was instantaneous.
"Venusaur, Seed Bomb! Counterattack!"
ga Venusaur arched its back, the massive flower atop it launching a barrage of glowing seeds in every direction—a desperate, all-encompassing counter. The battlefield erupted in a chain reaction of explosions, thick plus of smoke engulfing the entire arena.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sheer force of the blasts rivaled the earlier clash between Aggron's Hyper Beam and Torkoal's Overheat. The battlefield trembled under the intensity of their exchange.
For a mont, nothing but silence filled the air.
Then, from within the dissipating smoke, a lone figure erged—ga Gardevoir. Its elegant black dress fluttered in the wind, its arms crossed in an effortless stance of dominance. Untouched. Unshaken.
Had the battle already been decided?
As the smoke fully cleared, the answer beca painfully clear. ga Venusaur had reverted to its base form, its massive body sprawled weakly on the ground, spirals in its eyes.
It had lost.
"T-That's it?! Just one move?!" soone in the crowd gasped.
"Didn't Seed Bomb block most of the Psychic attack?" another spectator questioned, disbelief evident in their voice.
Jack stood frozen, mirroring the shock of the onlookers. But for him, the impact was far deeper.
His prized Venusaur—the one that had battled through countless struggles, staged multiple cobacks—hadn't even gotten the chance to launch a proper offensive after ga Evolution.
Defeated in an instant.
How was he supposed to accept this?
For the first ti, doubt flickered in Jack's eyes, threatening to shatter his fighting spirit.
From the sidelines, Isaac Newton let out a knowing sigh. "John's ga Shiny Gardevoir is top-tier, even by Gym Leader standards. The gap between Jack's Venusaur and it was simply too wide. Add in the type disadvantage, and... well, the result speaks for itself."
There was no need for further explanation. The outco was clear.
On paper, John's Gardevoir and Jack's Venusaur were at a similar level. But the real difference lay elsewhere.
First, John's Gardevoir had a flawless Special Attack IV. Under normal training, its Special Attack stat had reached the absolute peak for a Gardevoir of this level.
Second, John had raised it with top-tier nutrition, boosting its overall strength by at least five levels over Pokemon that hadn't received such care.
Third, ga Evolution had amplified that power even further. Gardevoir's Special Attack skyrocketed from 125 to an astounding 165.
anwhile, ga Venusaur had gained well-rounded boosts—except in Speed. Its Special Defense had only increased by 20 points, a re fraction of what it needed to withstand a full-powered Psychic from ga Gardevoir.
These three factors combined sealed Venusaur's fate.
"Venusaur is unable to battle! Gardevoir wins!" the referee declared.
The match wasn't just over—it had been completely one-sided.
For a Trainer, losing their ace ant the battle was effectively finished.
John frowned slightly. He had been too efficient. He hadn't even gotten to see what unique techniques the Chiba Gym's Venusaur possessed.
"I was hoping to pick up a trick or two for my own Venusaur," he muttered. "Guess I'll have to ask Mark another day."
Jack's final Pokemon was Shiftry.
Just as John had predicted, Jack's team was built around a fast-hitting, Chlorophyll-boosted Sunny Day strategy. But with Venusaur—the team's main Sunny Day setter—down for too long, the harsh sunlight had already faded.
And without a replacent to renew it, the advantage was lost.
Even if Shiftry could activate its Chlorophyll ability, it wouldn't be fast enough to dodge ga Gardevoir's attacks.
Dark-type Pokemon were immune to Psychic moves, but Fairy-type moves were another story entirely.
John didn't hesitate. "Dazzling Gleam!"
A brilliant burst of light flooded the battlefield. The super-effective Fairy-type move struck Shiftry dead-on, sending it flying before it collapsed in an instant.
Jack's confidence had already been shattered. His last Pokemon had simply been sent out as a formality. It wouldn't have mattered which one he chose—they would all have fallen just as quickly.
The Shiftry loyalists in the crowd let out groans of frustration, but the outco had been inevitable.
"Shiftry is unable to battle! Gardevoir wins!" the referee announced. "With all four of Trainer Jack's Pokemon defeated, the final winner is Trainer John!"
With that declaration, John officially secured his victory. More importantly, it marked his first triumph in an official six-on-six battle.
He exhaled slowly, absorbing the weight of his accomplishnt.
The road ahead was still long, but today, he had taken a significant step forward.
