John took out his Gaboy and leaned back on the bed. It was ti for Fly's mont of action, but the "special event" he had been anticipating never happened. He had speculated about what it could be—maybe a sudden encounter with Rayquaza tearing through the ozone layer or stumbling upon an elusive, top-tier trainer.

Not this ti. But there would always be another chance in the future.

As he descended from the sky, his character landed just outside Fortree City. He reached for a Pokeball and recalled Flygon.

Used to healing his team at the Pokemon Center, John instead decided to check his newly acquired Bulbasaur's stats.

[Bulbasaur (Grass/Poison) – Totem]

[Level: 13]

[Ability: Overgrow (increases the power of Grass-type moves by 50% (1.5×) when the ability-bearer's HP falls below a third of its maximumt.)]

[IVs: HP (31), Attack (24), Sp. Attack (31), Defense (31), Sp. Defense (31), Speed (31)]

[Moves: Tackle, Growl, Vine Whip, Growth, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf, Sleep Powder, Poison Powder, Seed Bomb]

[Held Item: None]

A 5V Totem Bulbasaur!

The stats were fantastic. But John figured it was simply the strongest of its island group, rising to beco a Totem Pokemon.

"Overgrow, huh..." he muttered, half-disappointed. He had hoped for Chlorophyll, which would have let him build a sun-based team. But considering its massive size as a Totem Pokemon, it would probably be even larger when it evolved into Venusaur.

A bigger size ant reduced agility. Even with high Speed, its bulk would still limit its evasive capabilities. So, Overgrow was actually the better fit—it could turn Venusaur into a tanky monster when low on health.

"Not bad," John concluded. He decided to train Bulbasaur as his main Grass-type. Not to ntion, he already had the corresponding ga Stone sitting in his inventory, ready for evolution.

Turning to his phone, he placed an order for so high-quality Miracle Seeds and Poison Barbs—treats for his new Pokemon.

Back in the ga, he wasn't in a rush to collect berries. Instead, he had Flygon carry him to Rustboro City. There, he made a beeline for Devon Corp and spoke to the researchers, using their fossil machine to revive the mysterious Dark Aerodactyl fossil he had picked up in the hidden chambers of Odomare.

The mont the machine powered on, thick black smoke billowed from it.

For a second, the scientists panicked, thinking they had broken the machine. But as the smoke cleared, the revival process was a success—Aerodactyl erged, its body glowing with a deep, purple-black hue. Its eyes, blood-red, burned with intensity.

It wasn't Shiny. But it was sothing unique.

John released Aerodactyl onto his balcony. It stood there like a gargoyle, scanning its surroundings with piercing eyes, unmoving.

He hesitated before reaching out to touch it. Surprisingly, it allowed him to, stepping forward onto his palm.

It wasn't so artificially corrupted Dark Pokemon—it still had its natural instincts. But its genetic makeup had been altered by the fossil revival process, embedding dark energy into its very core.

John checked its stats in-ga:

[Aerodactyl (Flying/Rock) – Dark Variant]

[LV: 10]

[Ability: Rock Head (Prevents recoil damage from moves.)]

[IVs: HP (31), Attack (31), Sp. Attack (31), Defense (31), Sp. Defense (31), Speed (31)]

[Moves: Bite, Ancient Power, Supersonic, Wing Attack, Scary Face, Rock Slide, Dark Strike, Dark Pulse]

[Held Item: None]

A full 6V Aerodactyl.

John had expected as much. His Tyrunt had also been 6V at revival, so it only made sense that this Aerodactyl followed suit.

What intrigued him more were the Dark-type moves:

[Dark Strike – Physical, Power 40]

[Dark Pulse – Special, Power 50]

He had never seen these moves before.

In older gas, Dark-type moves dealt double damage against non-Dark Pokemon and halved damage against Dark-types. If that logic still applied, then Dark Strike effectively had 80 base power—on par with ga Punch. Dark Pulse would hit for 100, making it stronger than Surf.

"I need to test these moves in battle," John thought.

And these were only its low-tier Dark moves. More powerful techniques likely awaited once Aerodactyl evolved.

Satisfied, but also a little overwheld, John sighed.

He had promised himself not to catch more Pokemon for a while... yet here he was, with two new powerful team mbers.

"Oh well, not like I can say no to Pokemon with this kind of potential."

He turned back to his phone. If he had gotten Miracle Seeds and Poison Barbs for Bulbasaur, then it was only fair to grab Sharp Beak and Hard Stone for Aerodactyl's main moves.

With that out of the way, it was ti to get back to the real grind.

Harvest berries. Replant berries. Water the soil. Sell the extras. Check every accessible area.

And most importantly—tackle the monthly Volcanic Dungeon.

Just as he was about to enter, he had a thought.

Before stepping into battle, John grabbed an Exp. Share from his inventory and handed it to Bulbasaur.

The tournant at the end of the event would pit breeders against each other, using their selected Pokemon in head-to-head battles.

A well-trained Bulbasaur would give him a solid edge. And in one month's ti, he'd steamroll the competition.
