As Ella led Julian to a place similar to a warehouse, two guards stood at the entrance. When they saw Julian, they greeted him with visible excitent.
"Open it," Ella said.
The warehouse doors swung open, and Julian and Ella stepped inside.
Inside were ancient stone tablets of various sizes—so intact, so broken, and so with inscriptions so faded they were hardly readable.
"Commander, aside from those in private collections, all of Drakoria’s stone tablets are here. Additionally, the tablets from Babath and those provided by other nations are also stored here. Another batch of tablets will arrive in a few days."
"There are a total of thirty-one thousand tablets here."
Julian hadn’t expected the number to be so large.
Most of the stone tablets originated from Ruins, and not every Ruin contained them. Even in Ruins that did, there were typically only four or five stone tablets at most.
Moreover, many stone tablets had beco blurred and illegible due to age and exposure to the elents.
"Mm, that outfit looks great on you."
Julian glanced over the warehouse, then shifted his gaze to Ella. She wore a well-fitted suit that outlined her figure beautifully.
"I’m glad the Commander likes it," Ella replied, slightly flustered by Julian’s unexpected comnt. She made a ntal note to wear similar outfits in different colors over the next few days.
As she was lost in thought, she suddenly noticed Julian’s hand reaching toward her—specifically, toward her chest. Ella grew nervous.
Had the Commander finally co to his senses and developed an interest in woman?
Although she wouldn’t refuse, doing it here felt a bit inappropriate… but if the Commander liked it, she didn’t mind.
With that thought, Ella closed her eyes.
However, after a while, she didn’t feel any mischievous hands on her.
Why was this different from what was described in novels? Did the Commander prefer her to take the initiative?
When Ella opened her eyes again, she saw Julian’s hand hovering near the top button of her blouse, right above her chest.
"Commander, you…"
"Mm, this button is quite interesting."
Julian looked at the button with an unreadable expression, then gently tugged at it with his fingers, pulling it right off her blouse.
He then pried the button apart, splitting it into two halves.
"Since when do buttons contain circuitry and caras? It’s quite finely made."
The split button revealed tal wiring and a cara, clearly indicating it was a miniature surveillance device.
Ella imdiately understood what was happening. Her face instantly turned pale as she hastily explained, "Commander, I didn’t do this. I had no idea my clothes had been tampered with. Commander—"
Julian raised a hand to stop her.
Ella fell silent, her eyes fixed on Julian, wide with nervousness. Silent tears began to stream down her face.
She knew that if Julian didn’t believe her, not only would she be finished, but her entire family would face ruin as well.
"Why are you crying? I haven’t even said anything yet."
Julian sighed helplessly. He reached out and wiped the tears from her face. "Don’t I trust you? Even if soone else betrays , you wouldn’t. Soone must have tampered with your clothes."
Who said Julian was a clueless straightforward man who didn’t know how to comfort won? His words alone moved Ella so much she cried even harder.
Thanks to the Seven-Aperture Stone, Julian knew perfectly well whether Ella had betrayed him or not.
As for how he discovered the miniature cara, it was because the mont he saw Ella earlier, he felt a constant sense of being watched—like soone was secretly staring at him from a corner.
He had even discreetly asked Gengar to search the surroundings but found nothing.
Yet that feeling persisted.
At Julian’s level, he trusted his instincts, so he knew sothing was off with Ella.
That was when he noticed the button on her clothes.
"Commander, why would they install a miniature cara on my clothes?" Ella asked after calming herself, fury flashing across her face. She had almost lost Julian’s trust.
"They obviously want to know why I need the ancient stone tablets," Julian sneered.
The world was full of clever people.
Ancient stone slabs ca from Ruins—records carved by ancient humans. Their content was extrely varied.
So docunted Legendary Pokémon, others recorded major events of their tribes, and so even detailed information about certain Pokémon—both significant and trivial matters were inscribed.
And most of the information humans currently possessed about First-class Legendaries ca from these ancient stone tablets.
Ancient stone slabs were useful to Pokémon scholars—but only if one understood ancient Pokémon language.
Pokémon language was generally divided into three categories: Proto-ancient Pokémon language, ancient Pokémon language, and modern Pokémon language.
Only Julian understood the Proto-ancient form. Even if there were humans who knew so, they only knew scattered fragnts and could never translate it fully.
Even ancient Pokémon language was not widely understood in human society. As for modern Pokémon language, it was a compulsory subject for Pokémon scholars. Any qualified Pokémon scholar understood modern Pokémon language.
Accordingly, stone tablets were classified into three types: Proto-ancient stone tablets, ancient stone tablets, and modern stone tablets.
Due to their extre age, most Proto-ancient stone tablets were blurred or damaged.
Ancient stone tablets were relatively better preserved, with many First-class Legendaries recorded on them.
Modern stone tablets were not worth ntioning, as their archaeological value was low.
Among the three types, ancient stone tablets held the greatest research value.
That being said, their value was largely limited to Pokémon scholars. For trainers, these tablets served no practical purpose.
Yet Julian, the world’s top Trainer, was collecting these tablets. What could be his reason?
Why had Julian beco the world’s strongest? The reasons were clear: he could command First-class Legendaries without any side effects and had even captured two of them later on.
Other trainers wonder: 'why can he do this?'
Before Julian, no other trainer had ever achieved this.
Where did the secret lie?
If they could uncover this secret, perhaps they, too, could command First-class Legendaries without side effects and even capture them.
Human desire knew no bounds.
Julian’s existence had raised the ceiling of what a Trainer could achieve.
Previously, becoming a Champion was considered the pinnacle for Trainers, but Julian shattered that notion. It turned out that Trainers could command First-class Legendaries without side effects and even capture them.
If Julian could do it, why couldn’t they?
If they uncovered Julian’s secret, they believed they could do the sa.
For such a secret, any cost was worth it—after all, this involved First-class Legendaries. Who could resist such temptation?
