"As you said -this ti we can only rely on Julian,"
When Will ended up in a rather dejected state, Shen threw him a bottle of water and drank half of the bottle by herself.
Right now, Julian and Shen were the only ones left on their side. But Machamp had fought once already, and while it was still ready to go, it likely wouldn't last much longer in a fight.
On the other side, the Lit High School team had three Pokémon: Gengar, Venusaur, and a Trainer who hadn't battled yet but had a Pupitar waiting. That made a total of three Pokémon they were up against.
Julian would need to take on at least two or maybe even three of those Pokémon if Lake No. 1 school wanted to win this match.
"Lit Middle School has been hiding their strength," Coach Sam said.
"I didn't expect them to have ga Evolution on their side."
He had thought that the Trainer with Pupitar was the secret weapon for Lit Middle School. While that was true, they actually had two secret weapons.
"Julian also has a ga Evolution stone," Will added.
"Are you sure about that?" Shen asked.
"Do you really think Julian wouldn't have one?" Will replied.
"Bang!" Shen punched Will lightly on the arm, annoyed.
"Stop answering a question with another question!"
Of course, Julian had the ga Evolution stone. When his Beldum evolved into tagross, his dad had given him the stone.
But with such a opponent, Julian didn't need to use ga Evolution just yet.
"tagross!"
In a flash of bright white light, the silver tagross appeared. Its heavy limbs landed softly on the ground without a sound.
"ga Venusaur, use Leaf Storm!"
The Trainer of ga Venusaur felt exhausted, knowing their ti for ga Evolution was almost up. They needed to deal a lot of damage to tagross before they ran out of energy.
Countless green leaves swirled and danced through the air, each one sharp and dangerous.
"Psychic!"
tagross's eyes glowed blue, and an invisible wave spread out from it, stopping the green leaves in mid-air as if soone had pressed pause.
At the sa ti, ga Venusaur realized it couldn't move at all.
"teor Mash!"
tagross floated in front of the controlled ga Venusaur, smashing its fists down on its opponent's head, surrounded by colorful lights.
"ga Venusaur, hurry and dodge!"
When the Trainer shouted, the Pokémon felt helpless. If it could dodge, it wouldn't be standing there taking the hit, right?
"Bang!"
No suspense, ga Venusaur fell to the ground, also losing its ga form.
"I think Julian wasn't even using his full strength before," Will said, wide-eyed and excited as he watched Julian defeat ga Venusaur so easily.
"I have a feeling that tagross is hiding even more power," Shen added, her martial artist instincts telling her that both Julian and tagross were keeping their best moves under wraps.
"The match is over! Venusaur is unable to battle; tagross wins!" called the referee.
After the Venusaur Trainer recalled their Pokémon, they gave Julian a deep look before leaving. This Trainer was from a well-known grass-type gym, run by his father. Even if his background wasn't as impressive as Julian's, he was still one of the best in Yale Province.
Julian's na was becoming more and more famous, especially after his first appearance with silver Beldum. His grandfather, John, even praised him as a future champion, making Julian well-known among the wealthy families.
Next up for Lit Middle School was not their last player, Nolan, but the Trainer who used Gengar.
During a previous battle with Blastoise, Gengar had regained so stamina using Dream Eater. After resting in its Poké Ball, it was probably back to about 90% energy.
In terms of type advantages, tagross had the upper hand. Gengar's Poison moves wouldn't affect tagross because of its Steel type. Gengar was likely just trying to wear down tagross and gather information for Nolan, the final Trainer.
"Psychic!"
Gengar's powerful Psychic move hit, but tagross quickly countered with it's own , controlling Gengar just like it had with ga Venusaur before.
"Bullet Punch!"
A beam of silver light shot from tagross as it attacked.
With such overwhelming strength, there was no need for fancy moves—just pure power.
Even though tagross was only at the Advanced level, it could easily defeat even the strongest opponents, and Gengar, who was slightly above average Advanced level, stood no chance.
"Gengar is unable to battle; tagross wins!"
In less than a minute, Gengar was defeated, and its Trainer recalled it in shock. They had hoped to use Gengar's tricky ghost-type moves to gather information on tagross for Nolan, but instead, they were overpowered right away.
tagross had taken down two opponents in a row, one even being ga Venusaur, and the audience erupted in cheers.
"tagross is the best!"
"Venusaur and Gengar didn't stand a chance against tagross!"
"I really want to see tagross ga Evolve!"
" too!"
"Hey, my legs are long and white. Want to see them?"
"Private chat, please!"
"Get lost; you're blocking my view of tagross!"
The chat was buzzing with comnts as Nolan, the last player from Lit Middle School, stepped onto the battlefield.
To give the Pokémon plenty of room to battle, especially in a big event like the Yale Provincial High School League, the arena was huge—almost the size of two football fields.
Both Trainers could see each other, but they couldn't see what the other looked like, they can only see their rival's image on the big screen nearby.
When Nolan appeared, the female audience went wild, cheering loudly, making the broadcast screen explode with excitent.
"Co to sister!"
"woof, woof!"
"Nolan, co give a hug to your sister!"
Many comnts praised Nolan's looks, while a few criticized.
"It's just a pretty face; what's the big deal?"
"This year's won's aesthetic is really bad; they don't know what a real man looks like."
But those comnts quickly faded into the background of the excitent.
