After Moltres and Shaymin stared each other down for a few seconds, Moltres was the first to launch an attack, its red wings giving a gentle flap toward the ground.
Air Slash.
A crescent-shaped Air Slash shot forth, tearing through the air with a sharp, piercing sound.
Shaymin, with its nimble reflexes, dodged the Air Slash. The blade struck the ground with a boom, instantly carving a deep fissure and sending rocks flying.
But it didn’t stop there—within seconds, more and more Air Slashes rained down as Moltres continued flapping its wings. The sky above Shaymin was instantly filled with incoming attacks.
Realizing it couldn’t dodge them all, Shaymin stopped trying to evade—there was simply no way to evade such a dense onslaught.
It instead began gathering an Energy Ball in its mouth and launched it straight at the incoming blades of air.
BOOM!
The two moves collided, triggering a powerful explosion. The Air Slash and Energy Ball were evenly matched, canceling each other out.
Moltres followed up quickly, spitting out a Flathrower.
While, Shaymin used the shockwave from the explosion to propel itself backward, narrowly escaping the path of the flas.
Moltres: 'Slippery little thing…'
There was a trace of frustration in its eyes. Small Pokémon were naturally faster—their size-to-weight ratio gave them an edge in agility.
Though Shaymin had dodged the Flathrower, the sheer heat radiating from the attack still made it visibly uncomfortable.
Moltres clearly noticed this. Its eyes lit up slightly, and it opened its beak again to launch another Flathrower.
This ti, Shaymin leaped into the air, but the flas still slightly grazed its body, causing a flicker of pain to cross its face.
Mid-air, Shaymin changed form—morphing from its Land For (hedgehog-like) into its Sky For, taking on the shape of a small dog with green fur and wings.
In its Sky For, Shaymin zipped through the air, arriving in front of Moltres almost instantly.
Seeing the little thing charging straight at it, Moltres didn’t hold back—its wings glowed with a silvery sheen as it prepared to smack Shaymin down with Steel Wing.
But then, a blinding light suddenly erupted from Shaymin’s body, montarily blinding Moltres.
With its vision disrupted, Moltres lost its aim.
Though slightly shaken by the loss of sight, Moltres remained composed—it didn’t flail or panic mid-air.
anwhile, Shaymin looked smugly at its handiwork and launched a Leech Seed at Moltres. However, it underestimated the intense heat radiating from Moltres—the seed was burned to ashes before it could even land.
“Hyper Beam!” Elliot commanded.
Shaymin was a Grass-type Pokémon, but Grass-type moves only dealt one-fourth of their usual damage to Moltres. But, with Moltres temporarily blinded, perhaps there was a chance to take it down.
A golden Hyper Beam began to gather in Shaymin’s mouth, powerful energy waves rippling outward as the move charged. Then, with a blast, it shot toward Moltres.
The energy waves from Hyper Beam were so intense that even without sight, Moltres could sense the powerful fluctuations. However, lacking visual cues slowed its reaction ti.
Under normal circumstances, Moltres would have dodged, but now—blind and disoriented—it was almost guaranteed to take the hit.
“Three o’clock to the left!”
Unfortunately, Shaymin’s exact position had already been telepathically relayed to Moltres by Julian.
Just as the Hyper Beam fired, Moltres unleashed a Flathrower in perfect counter, eting the attack head-on.
To Elliot's surprise, the two moves clashed evenly, locking in a stalemate midair.
'How is this possible?' After all, from a numbers standpoint, Hyper Beam’s base power exceeded 100, yet now it was holding even with Flathrower.
The struggle lasted about ten seconds before—BOOM!—an explosion erupted, sending thick black smoke billowing outward.
Seizing the mont, Shaymin reverted from its Sky For back to its Land For, once again taking on its hedgehog-like appearance.
The pink flowers on either side of Shaymin’s body began to emit a powerful suction force, pulling the black smoke toward it and absorbing it completely.
Shaymin had the unique ability to absorb and purify air, much like how Suicune could purify water.
As the smoke dissipated, Moltres regained its vision.
Now staring down at the little creature on the ground—the sa one that had tricked it—Moltres was filled with fury. Flas engulfed its body as it dove downward, transforming into a blazing crimson phoenix.
Brave Bird!
The air compressed violently under the force of the attack, shockwaves rippling outward as Moltres descended, leaving a fiery trail in its wake.
“Shaymin—release!” Elliot called out quickly.
Shaymin’s smoke absorption wasn’t just for show. The smoke it had purified was now pressurized inside its body, like a compressed energy tank. At Elliot’s command, Shaymin released that stored pressure.
A massive shockwave erupted from Shaymin’s body.
Under the impact of the blast, Brave Bird's montum dropped, and the flas cloaking Moltres began to flicker violently. The continued force of the shockwave not only stopped the Brave Bird in its tracks—it actually blew Moltres backward in midair.
BAM!
Moltres was blasted upward and slamd hard into the top of the protective barrier with a resounding impact.
After unleashing that shockwave, Shaymin was completely drained. Its tiny body heaved with exhaustion as it watched Moltres plumt from the top of the barrier. Without hesitation, it gathered energy once more and fired another Hyper Beam straight at the falling firebird.
Despite being worn out, Shaymin was still a Mythical Pokémon—its stamina was nothing short of monstrous. So, having enough energy left to fire off a Hyper Beam wasn’t surprising at all.
BOOM!
The Hyper Beam struck true, and both Shaymin and Elliot couldn’t help but smile. It looked like this ti, the attack had worked.
Unfortunately, that smile only lasted a second.
Hit by Hyper Beam, Moltres let out a piercing cry and suddenly flared its wings open, soaring upward once more. Its eyes were sharp as blades, locked onto Shaymin below.
Brave Bird!!
It dove again with blazing speed, and this ti, Shaymin had no strength left to counter. That smoke-absorption move from earlier had taken too much out of it.
With the full force of Brave Bird crashing down, Shaymin’s small body was sent flying, before crashing into the ground. When it landed, its eyes had turned into swirling spirals—the clear sign it was knocked out.
Elliot sighed softly and recalled Shaymin to its Poké Ball.
The protective barrier faded, and Moltres flew over to Julian.
Moltres: "Well? Am I f**king aweso or what?"
Julian had just been about to praise Moltres—until those words left its beak. He nearly smacked the bird right then and there.
Instead, he grabbed Moltres by the head and scolded, “Can you stop watching TikTok with Celebi all the ti? Learn sothing useful for once—don’t turn into a foul-mouthed bird!”
Moltres: "But was I f**king aweso or not?"
Julian took a deep breath, muttering under his breath, "Don’t get mad, don’t get mad… It’s my Pokémon now. Can’t hit it, can’t hit it…"
